Vvt isnt the issue. Vvt is just harder to tune for. The issue that those engines have is the DOD/AFM ( Displacement On Demand / Active Fuel Management ). It's a good thing that you deleted that, they've been known to eat up lifters, camshafts, all the bearings, top end valvetrain, pistons, and bottom end. It was a garbage design by GM, and it wasn't the first time they've done this. I believe they did this back in the '80s as well, and it was just as big of a failure back then. GM should have known better than to do this, but since everyone else was doing it, they decided to give it a whirl. Just another example of people trying to make sales. They use this as a marketing scheme in order to sell to more people that don't understand engines or the fact that a 5k lbs truck isnt going to get the mpg of a Prius. Lol. Good to see that you deleted it! I want to see someone try to keep the variable valve timing, it usually never has any issues, and is a good idea. I mean, hell, that's literally what Honda is known for. The vvt in Honda "VTEC" is what makes some of them so powerful for thier size, and yet still a lot then plenty of miles per gallon when you keep your lead foot off the pedal.
