Make a Japanese BB or BC that would be as sneaky as possible. So low draft, low smoke, etc.
the goal would be to sneak upon a mm American task force and shoot them before they could spot you. So be as much as possible elusive.
Also use fog or rain or whatever necessary to boost these effects.
And call the ship “elusive pancake” for the lols

Here's a suggestion: Make a single destroyer with 1950s tech and see up to what year you can go up against a dozen enemy battleships before the challenge becomes impossible to do.
      Channel your inner USS Johnston.

When a ship lists too much to fire broadside, it still can fire over the bow or stern (list doesn't effect those firing lines).
    That's what happened.
When you were on the BBs broadside, it could not fire die to the list.
But because this went around it, it could fire over the stern, causing you the problems you encountered nearing the end of the battle.
If you would have stayed on it's broadside, it wouldn't have been able to fire at you and you would've taken it down.

No, because ship files are too big for current LMMs to tokenize.
It would need to be dedicated AI for dreadnoughts

No. Wrong. "Messier 82" has done multiple videos of using GPT to design aircraft in "Fly Out." All you do is chat with the AI, give it parameters that are things you can do in the game (so if the AI tells you to make something "x" when only "y" is capable in-game, you tell the AI that) and work through the details with the AI. You have to *_heavily_* guide it, but it's workable.

A 60,000t BB with the acceleration of a Porsche. Nice.
The enemy BB was built more like a mobile coastal defence battery than a mainline warship. Something you'd park in a port and use for AAA and defence against raids from DD/CL.

The reason the enemy battleship engaged you the whole time is because it kept the list to starboard (or the stern in some cases) pointed towards the Tripoli. Its main guns had no problem elevating to fire back at short ranges - incidentally, that is why the Tripoli was out of range earlier than you expected. If your ocean-going Ferrari had been on the opposite side of the list, the story would have been much different.

Don't underestimate 2" guns. That's still 50mm naval gun rounds in the 1950's doing quite a bit of damage to the crew and systems on deck.

A few changes to the ship could have provided a lot more damage:
First, use 2.9 inch secondary guns(75mm), and longer barrels. The increased range and accuracy would provide a safety net agaisnt convoys and destroyers, plus some additional punch.
Next. Armor the deck! 4-6 inch is cruiser deck armor, not a proper BB.
And lastly, use that speed to ensure you only engage the target you want, outside of the enemy range or torpedoes.

16:00 I think the acceleration in battle is calculated against your current speed so the ship leaps forward from a stand still but as it approaches its maximum speed and drag really starts increasing it can't accelerate as much.

The problem with the game when it comes to transports is that there is no logic in how the defending ships located compared to the transports. If they were to mimic proper naval tactics than the transports would be in the middle, possibly in a line formation, and the escort ships would be on both sides of the transports. I am not sure that they used tactics where the escorts formed a circle around the transport ships back then but I could be wrong.

I think the AI awful designs are in part because of the crazy economy in 1.4. They think they've made a good ship, and on v1.3, a billion was a lot. But now everything costs more. The $600m BCs are now $2.8 billion. It's nuts. Everything should be divided by 10.
This inspired me to do the same test. I've just one-shot a 20,000t CA with 11.5" main belts worth... $3.5 billion. These are silly numbers.

18 inch with 14% shorter barrel vs 16Inch with 14% more barrel length in comparison.
    Game Version 1.4.0.7
    1950 Custom game Italian.
    Charge/Warhead : Cordite 2 + Dunnite.
Twin 16 Inch +14% length vs Twin 18 Inch -14% length
    Cost : $27.7M vs 12.45M
    Range : 52Km vs 33 Km
    Accuracy : 3-4% vs 1.5-1.9% at 15Km
RoF : Once every 77.5s vs 49.1s (standard loader)
    52.7s vs 33.4s (Auto II)
Pen : AP 30 inch with SAP vs 34 inch
    Damage : 3660/5984 (AP/HE) vs 6679/10923
They both has the same weight.
IMHO i always use the bigger gun with shorter barrel as long the range reduction still within a reasonable range.
Also the accuracy stated on the gun itself still will be buffed with other things like crew veterancy, radar, stability, engine vibration, etc.
Another example, 18.9 Inch +22% is much heavier than 20 Inch with -20%; also the 20 Inch have like only one third of the cost.
Maybe one thing you might want to consider when designing a ship. Or to put a test which one performs better.

Hey just watched a bit if the videos you have.
I think a spot you struggle with is multi formation command. I notice you can get fixated on one event and only turn the attention back to others when so etching happens.
That isn't be a good place to start to try and get the large formation effectiveness up.

    1) why u always avoid putting guns on superstructure? they are more accurate than deck leyer (less smoke, more vision)
    2) also, love the wireless turret u got there, rofl
    3) modern data AI is pretty heavy, idk if u can fit it in a 3.5gig game 🙃
    4) it is possible to get higher speed at cost of engine efficiency by pushing the speed cap in config file

I've not tried it in a while so I don't know if it still works, but if you take a hull with 120 or so hull form and minimize beam and draught you can get the math that determines engine weight to break. This results in a ship that has virtually no engine weight. I did it with the biggest British BC hull and managed to make an up-armored, 70kton Hood that could do 49kts with turbo-electric and have

How about you this: Super Battle Ship, One Tower pushed all the way back. Load as many guns of the same size on babbets down the center. With as many secondary guns down the sides. Call it the CHARGER. And you charge straight at the enemy formation exposing only the front profile. Single or Twin torps only and loads of armor. NO Secondary Tower and all the funnels you need.
