    I recently had a book published called, "Figure It out: Human Proportions." It's a great guide that will enable you to draw the head and body correctly every time. In this video, I'll give you a taste of the first chapter, where I cover the proportions of the head. These are just a few of the essential proportions of the head as seen from a front view. I hope this is helpful.

    As an absolute beginner who was deemed hopeless at drawing in primary school and has never held a pencil in his hand since, I learned a lot from this video lesson. Videos often show what books never can, but I would definitely get these books, and I probably will. These are books every kid should try. Especially those who, like myself, were told they could never do it. Thank you for sharing your experience.

    hi christopher. i wanted to say how much i admire your art and thank you for al the drawing tutorials you have been sharing with the world. i can see only ten precent of what a normal person can see but i love drawing so much that i have never stopt trying to create what comes to mind. you have made it posible for me to learn more because of the easy steps and coments. and that is what makes me a big fan of yours. the most besar part of it all is that without knowing, i have had 9 books of yours. i spent many hours drawing examples as art practice by choosing images from them ;). funny that i never made the connextion up to now. i will be buiying some new books in the near future. once again thank you sooo much. for making it posible for me to learn more about the tecnical side of drawing. aspecialy because of the fact that i am not able to see depth and details ;)
    bright blessings to you and yours

      Hi, Aella, I applaud you for pursuing your creativity, despite your challenges. I might also recommend that you try some cartooning styles that use somewhat less detail, which may be easier to see. These styles are nonetheless packed with personality and very popular. I refer to "Kawaii" and "chibi," two manga styles, or the retro style of Western cartoons. Take care.

    I bought your book (Figure It Out - Human Proportions) and I'm finding it very helpful. What I'm struggling with is the initial shape of the head. It's proving tricky to accurately reproduce and lacks a defined width/height relationship. Most tutorials draw a circle for the top of the head and have centre lines that protrude from the circle at certain lengths. If you get that initial 'egg' shape wrong the rest of the features don't fall into place correctly. Any tips?

    • @ChristopherHartbooks
      @ChristopherHartbooks  7 лет назад

      The egg shape is only an approximation. Think of the head shape as a starting point to be carved subtly into someone's head and face. The proportions are the key to keeping it looking real, not the head shape. There are "block"-type heads and heads with pointed chins, but the proportions remain the same.

    sir, how do you only have to erase once in this video. When I'm drawing I erase up to 10 times on a single line, I'm beginning to lose confidence in my drawing skill. My mom says that I'm a really good drawer but it's only because she's my mom. Should I keep practicing or stop because drawing is what I do when I'm bored or making a character for a game that I'm going to play outside.

    • @ChristopherHartbooks
      @ChristopherHartbooks  8 лет назад +1

      +Kaden Bujan Kaden, erasing is an absolutely essential part of drawing. If you're not erasing, you're not trying new things. Don't change your approach; you're doing fine!
