      I draw a line. Then i draw a second line. One is guaranteed to be less like the objective. Erase that line. Start over.

    MY ART TEACHER PLAYED THIS VIDEO TODAY AT MY ART CLASS!
    Edit: can yall stop in the comment section saying my teacher was lazy and didn't do his work, the only reason he showed this was because he only wanted to show an example, he was an amazing chill teacher...I made this comment during my junior year in HS and thought "wow it's jazza I never thought he would be in my lesson!" I was just surprised? I'm sick and tired of yall trying to find an excuse to hate on my teacher especially when they get underpaid to do their job..he also showed this particular video because we we're learning how to do body postures for that specific art unit...anywho just wanted to make that clear.

The third time I finally understand the majority of what you stated and also my deconstructions are still shitty. It's to be expected when you're level 1 learning from a master.

      I agree, proportions and perspective are the hardest things for me. I have a bad habit of jumping into things when I try to learn them and then give up because I try to do it as if I know everything rather than start with simple things. I'm finally trying to practice drawing and jazza is a big help and inspiration. I try to look at my horrible drawings as motivation to improve rather than reason to give up.

    • @Divio18
      @Divio18 8 лет назад +9

      TheNahaw Same, I always want my drawings to be perfect somehow, even if I'm just starting to practice a specific thing like anatomy... and when I fail it's discouraging and I give up quickly... Although as you said, when I look at my old drawings I can tell I'm improving xD

    I only just started making instructional videos on RUclips recently and you are one of the only ones I noticed who really breaks things down in an easy to understand way that beginners can actually follow it makes it a little frustrating since I'm like now what can I cover if Jazza did it better first? lol. I will still try and teaching others really helps my own skill improve as well. It is so satisfying when someone is able to understand and you see that light go on that shows that they get it and they start to enjoy art. That is what I enjoy and like to share and the reason I follow your channel more than others. You really show an enjoyment and understanding that others can easily feel.

      +Draw with Jazza Hey there Jazza, i got a question, i really love this, and i will always use this technique of construction, but how should i do it in paper? i am too poor to even get a drawing tablet, in the computer you can resize, easily erase anything, and lots of stuff you cant do in paper, i want to construct fast but i have it hard for doing it without having dark lines, its hard to keep the construction lines as light as possible, maybe just loosen the construction design for more sketchy but maybe that works? maybe the question im asking you is being already answered by myself right now? lol Please help, thanks! :)

    Great to see that every artistic activity is based on the same pattern. As a comedian, it's exactly what we need to do for the construction of a caracther : lay down the foundation and Structure of it. Then refine details, and then giving the texture, the shading, keeping in it the simplicity of the construction line we establish before. This construction allows us to play our caracther in any situations, perspectives and angles. Thanks for the non-intentional metaphor Jazz, thanks for reading my french-english that sucks and thanks for this brilliant work you are doing with such simplicity. Your construction line is on point :)

    One thing I'm missing in this anatomy construction video is the measurements. I think you're drawing figures 7 heads high right? I was watching some of Sycra's videos awhile ago on his lightning technique for drawing the muscles on arms and legs and he uses an 8 heads tall method. It dawned on me that however helpful your videos have been on what fundamental shapes the male and female body consist of I don't remember you mentioning measurements (although I must admit I haven't watched them all yet)
    I think why some people watching this tutorial would have problems is because when they implement it the result isn't what they thought it would be. For instance when you draw that little line and dot for the nose and mouth explain why they go there and what the width is. The eyes are usually one eye width apart from each other etc.at what point do the elbows and knees start...
    When you draw it in 3D perspective you start foreshortening and that is the complicated bit for most because insight in measurement is crucial then. You're absolutely right when you say that people will just have to observe and practice so they will get a feeling for those 'accordion bends'. I'm still at that stage right now so I know. But some won't get that and perhaps get discouraged to continue as a beginner
    Between you and Sycra's videos though I've already learned so much the past month. I'm already drawing and painting robots in all kinds of complicated poses and perspectives. Followed an art class for about half a year over ten years ago and learned nothing so I gave up. I was just drawing two pillows with charcoal on paper the whole time. But I somehow stumbled onto your tutorials and they inspired me to buy an Intuos and give it another try. I'm so glad I did. So this is by all means merely CONSTRUCTIVE criticism ;) pun intended of course
