Best untold feature in Clip Studio Paint: the Erase tool has a vector-line-friendly 'erase up to line' toggle. What that means is if you touch on a line with the erase tool and that setting on, it'll 'walk up and down' that line to wherever it intersects another line and erase that *visual* segment of the line (it'll make more segments as needed). This means you can easily erase all those 'background elements behind this character which ruins the clean look of the art' with little fast swipes. That tool by itself is what keeps me on CSP as an illustrator -- it's an *immense* speed boost to my workflows.

Maybe don’t say “look how this person did” because artists put high expectations on ourselves already so no need added pressure by loved ones. I don’t mean to sound rude, it is a very difficult path for a young artist.

Have to agree with the other commenter. Don't add on pressure by making comparisons or making promises of success based on someone else. Just show her his page as inspo and let her make her own conclusions. You doing it for her could possibly take the fun out of art, and then she'll stop doing it for herself but rather to meet this (unintended, I'm sure) expectation you gave her.

Pretty neat. The only change I'd really make is in the final panel where the advisor guy is telling the warlord to restrain himself.
Instead of him just standing there stoically, might feel more natural for the advisor to be urging him to hold back if the warlord were taking a step forward, and you could clearly see the bloodlust on his face.

This was awesome! Seeing where you were as a visual storyteller and showing us where you are now.
Couldn't help but share the following because this gave me flashbacks to this moment in my life a few months ago. My father, the illustrator Thomas Yeates, unearthed a(n unfinished) graphic novel he did for a high school English assignment all the way back in the '60s. Basically, my dad was not a great student so he was often stuck in basic English classes. However, he figured out that the advanced English class (at least at his high school) were more like creative writing because the teachers assumed the students knew all the mundane writing basics already. So he signed up for this Advanced English Class and convinced the teacher to, for his final, let him to a comic book adaptation (the term graphic novel wasn't around yet) of a pulp fiction novel he liked. Said novel was called "Beyond Thirty" by Edgar Rice Burroughs, same author as the original Tarzan novels. (The book was later renamed to "The Lost Continent.") He only completed like five to ten pages, and last page and a half never got past pencils, but it didn't matter because the teacher was blown away. Dad still retained his love for Edgar Rice Burroughs and has done a lot of projects for a ERB, Inc; thus, he frequents ERB conventions. He brought this unearthed, incomplete comic that he did almost six decades ago and shared it at the previous ERB fan convention he went to. You can see that it's obviously the work of a beginner -- he even directly copied some specific pieces of illustrations by J. Allen St. John, an OG Burroughs artist -- but you can see glimpses of the master he would become.
A synopsis, for those curious about reading this novel:
It's a sci-fi tale that imagines an alternate timeline where the USA completely cut off contact with the eastern hemisphere in an extreme effort to isolate itself from the brewing turmoil in Europe that would become World War 1. (A brief IRL timeline: the war started in 1914, the book was published in 1915, and the US joined the war in 1917). A century or two later, contact is still cut off and actively forbidden, and our hero patrols the ocean at the 30 degree longitude line that must not be crossed (hence the title). After a spat with a crew member ultimately leaves him and some other patrollers stranded in the ocean, they realize that the closest land mass is what was once Britan and decide to risk treason and head over to this land that no one's heard from for at least a century. Let's just say that they find formerly-known-as-Britain has turned into a literal hostile jungle.

Really cool to see the juxtaposition of your old art to nowadays with all the stuff you learn about composition and anatomy.
I wanted to make a comic myself at the age you drew this but didn't think i could do it justice, it's been 5 years so I might as well try again now lol

13 year old Jazza probably wouldve cried with happiness if he could see this now. I used to draw obsessively until i was about 19 or 20 but stopped. I got pretty decent and nearly went to art school but life happened. Im 33 now and have barely drawn since then and your channel is making me want to start again because I forgot how much I loved it!

I know this is sponsored and all but when Jazza got excited about his brushes being converted into Vector graphics without having to (apparently) do anything complicated, I got hyped. Like that is awesome.
