The comments remind me of back when digital started to gain traction and hardcore photographers stuck on film had dismissive, arrogant attitudes because digital was still new and lacking.
They felt threatened by new technology and couldn't see the potential for future innovation and here we are, the rest is history.
The closedminded in tech are left behind, the openminded take your jobs.
AllNamesAreTaken Tbf, these aren’t really a “step forward” when speaking about the technological capabilities.
Some of them definitely can get amazing clarity and most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference(I sure as hell wouldn’t ha), but most any professional photographer would likely have digital and the occasional film that they stick to and use these for different purposes such as side photography(not the stuff they actually dedicate their effort on, but more for experimental photography), testing the lenses, etc.
Not saying all, but in this circumstance, digital will always be “better” in terms of quality and technological advancements because the entire device is carefully put together to be everything a photographer needs and more. While these lenses are amazing(and can be very pricey, just like actual cameras), you’re ultimately still using a mobile phone that is built to have multiple purposes which in the end means they have to sacrifice some of the potential when building the lense as ones entirely dedicated to photographs, the other is dependent on the users phone.
But I completely agree with you that the snobbish “Ehuh. No man, this is absolute trash and any REAL photographer wouldn’t be caught dead even thinking about using of these! Only plebs think this is remotely coool!” of course paraphrased and exaggerated. To completely shun them just because you don’t want to try something new is ignorant in its own, and if you have she money to spend, really try them out.
I think is a good try and a curious device, but while smartphones keep having that shape and are that flat I think they'll be too unergonomic for my taste.

I have been buying long lenses ( zoom ) used. They were originally $1000 to $5000. But, since they are 20 years old they cost $75. They still work and the optics are noticably better than $75 lenses that are Brand New.. I have not done this yet for cell phones but for surveillance cameras. The same would apply to cell phones. And you might already have a lens that you own ( like for a film camera from years ago )

Way more interested in the actual smartphone mount than the lens one. Looks like a Pixel Addix Cinema Mount but those can't be found anywhere anymore (or at least for a decent price). Any suggestions where to get one?

As an amateur photographer I have various lenses laying around, and we all have smartphones. How awesome would be to be able to attach any lens to any smartphone and use them to get different angles whether they are on tripods or assistants?
i know rite....and a decent camera with 4k recording capabilities and audio jacks cost about what? yea thats right some cost as much as the phone or 2 folds of the same phone...the overall cost(for these mobile accessories) is about half the phone ...we are only trying to achieve certain effects here etc better depth of field,physical manual focus,better zoom... it won't be competing with the DSLR/mirrorless market anytime soon.... but in terms of amongst our phone (budget) videography it is certainly an improvement...
i know.. enjoy the fact that it's one more cool accessory to enhance your craft.. (no dslr=no cords, no cf readers, less equipment, right to the cloud).. win win??

or real shooting? 4K on phones is very capable in 2018 and it'll only get better!
I'm not about to trade out location scouting with my Fuji and a handful of small primes in favor of an iPhone and a massive PL lens.

I’ve found tutorials on using camera lenses with a phone, but haven’t been able to find any for the other way around: using a phone lens on a camera.

These "dof adapters" were actually a thing not too long ago used for camcorders with built in zoom lenses like Canon Vixia, Panasonic HM150, Sony HC1, to get depth of field out of them by connecting a second lens.

Secondary lenses were also sold, without the need for an adaptor. I have a couple myself, albeit they don't perfectly match the (newer) camera I use them with.

It still has a tiny smartphone sensor. The mount can be used for more optical zoom only. In a digital photography the sensor matters the most and then come the lenses.
Amit kumar dash i would argue the other way around. Slapping a cheap lense on a 5d will look worse than a cinelense of a t2i
still t2i has probably 10 times bigger sensor than a smartphone sensor not like 1.6x sensor difference of your comparison

but also there is a chance for cleaner images in low light as the diameter of the outtermost optics is incredibly big and thus the small sensor will be delivered a total light equivalent like using a speedbooster...so if much amount of light gets the phone camera and lense, it will only stay in lowers isos in auto mode ...
so better images in low light also
May be the lenses have a focus reducer (like a metabones speed booster similar) attached, and make the small sensor a full frame equivalent. That is possible.

Super cool, add Filmic Pro and LumaFusion and you have a cinema camera and editing studio all in one. But I doubt it will power and control electronic lenses...

got here because some kids were using something similar to win a contest of films shot only with smartphones...
Own 2 Sony mirrorless cameras but they don't shoot above 60p. Galaxy s8 can shoot up to 900p. It would be dope if I could attach my 50mm 1.8 lens to my phone to get a more crisp video with that depth from the bokeh lol.
