    Justin can you make a video on how to connect the registers? Especially from falsetto to flageolet and flageolet to whistle? You see i can work both in flasetto and flageolet but if i try to lets say make a gliss from falsetto to flageolet the notes cut off and my voice just ''jumps'' from flasetto to flageolet! Maybe i'm pushing my breath...i can't really find it. Thanks!

    It's finally "clicking" for me, after part 1 I realized I've been using my mix for years on my middle register belting without even realizing it, and it had never ocurred to me that I could bring "that sound" up, this was just amazing!
    There's one thing I still don't understand though. I my self have experienced the big difference nasal resonance can have when singing high notes, and making it really THAT MUCH easier, but...why though? The vocal chords are still vibrating at the same frecuency. I don't get "how is it" that bringing my soft palate down suddenly makes it easier for my vocal chords to vibrate faster.

  • @carolesenecal2255
    @carolesenecal2255 3 года назад +1

    Hello Justin, wonderful videos, thank you so much! What about soft palate position in classical voices? Isn’t it lifted with a low larynx? But if it is lifted, classical voice wouldn’t take advantage of the nasal resonance (or « mask » resonance)? If this is true and if the soft palate is closing the nasal passage, wouldn’t that sound kind of
    ´Rocky Balboa’ sound? But to my ears, it doesn’t sound so « denasal ». So how do the voice take its big and bright resonance? In twang combined with a low larynx or special tongue position? Could you please explain this? Thank you very much for all your help.

    I am a male in puberty, I am 17. I like singing but my range is like D2 to E4. I can't sing anything above E4, I can't do it even I do yell. I have heard of mixed voice since last year, I've done lips trills, puffy cheeks, sirens, but I just can't get to ease the break. I love to sing but due to the fact that I am straining to much while singing, I started scare of singing. My vocal coach is a classically trained singer so he always want me to sing in my chest voice, I've train with him 6 month but I feel no improvement. I would like to ask you if I need to learn mixed voice or continue to train my chest voice? Is practicing loud and strong chest voice contradiction with mixed voice?

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  5 месяцев назад

      Hi Boon! You can definitely learn to sing in a Mix. We would recommend finding a trusted teacher who knows how to assist you with this. Not all Classical Teachers are able to do so as they follow different methods. And yes, training only Chest Voice can prevent you from effectively developing the nuanced vocal fold coordinations needed for Mix Voice. -NYVC

    Sadly, I didn't find one. I give up and tried to search from what I know about singing voice instead.
    I found this video and surprising, it answers questions that I had given up.
    Can I ask another question? I'm into that kind of JPOP or anime song.

    First, I wanna thank you for all the amazing content you bring here! It's really helping me figure out my own voice and ways to improve it!
    So, I have a question: i've watched your videos on Flageolet, but I'm having a lot of trouble with it. I feel like its easier to reach my upper range with more of a "full voice". When I try to reach it without a bit more pressure, the sound ends up more and more like a vocal fry. Am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you!

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  3 года назад

    Hey Justin! Always enjoy your videos and find them useful for my singing.
    Can you please make a video on 'larynx tilt' and how it can help to sing high notes?

    How long does it take to get a good sounding mixed voice if you exercise consistently. Also, what did your mixed voice sound like at first?

    Justin, when I do the nasal resonance, my voice still becomes more twangy as I get higher. Do you have any tips or alternate exercises?

      Hi Karen! First, welcome! Thanks for subscribing and we hope that you continue to find our resources helpful! There may be more things that could help your specific situation, but generally we want to develop the Mix coordinations, experiment with Nasal Resonance, develop M2 (head Voice & Flageolet) coordinations for flexibility, as well as consider if too much volume and compression are being used. Here are several episodes we would recommend in order to address these and other issues that might be coming into play:
      Ep. 70 “How To Belt Trilogy 1- Chest Dragging”
      Ep. 71 "How To Belt Trilogy 2 - Mixed High Notes"
      Ep. 72 "How To Belt Trilogy 3" - Belt Singing Tips
      Ep. 101 “The Greatest Vocal Exercise of All Time” - Voice Lessons To The World
      Ep. 114 "Find Your Mix Voice" Part 1 - Voice Lessons To The World
      Ep. 115 "Find Your Mix Voice" Part 2 - Voice Lessons To The World
      Ep. 112 "What Is Vocal Technique?" - Voice Lessons To The World
      Ep. 113 "Expand Your Vocal Range" - Voice Lessons To The World
      Ep. 105 “Worst Singing MISTAKES” - Voice Lessons To The World
      We hope this helps! -NYVC
