I have been using this recipe instead of a traditional tortilla recipe. Usually needs an extra 1/4 cup of cream though. This recipe is super easy to make everyone. Give it a try!
Thank you for sharing! We will certainly be trying this in our house soon! I applaud your willingness to try something different from your traditional recipe!!!
How can you work with flour and not get any on you, look beautiful doing it and make fabulous tortillas too?! You are a marvel! Binge watching all your great videos--love them all!! Thanks for taking the time to make them--I am learning so much!
so glad to see how easy and scrumptious these are! watching the tortillas puff up made me immediately want one (or more lol) thanks for showing us how to get our hands on and into this simple dough and turn out some great tortillas!
Made tortillas for the first time with this recipe and some were thicker and smaller then they should have been but my family loved them. Even my parents who are picky eaters said they were great and that we would be buying from the store anymore. Thank you!
Thanks!! I'll try this this weekend along side with your amazing new Mexico style green hatch Chile stew I've made that stew twice and OMG 🤤🙏 thank you!!
@@marcyinspired1442 please, the pleasure is certainly all mine 😋😍👍🌹❤️😎🌻🙏💯 in fact you know what, I'm making your delicious green Chile pork stew tomorrow and making my homemade pinto beans and frying them in bacon grease and some Mexican rice if I'm enthusiastic as my tummy maybe even make homemade tortillas and sopapillas
I do love all your videos and the way you make what I've always thought to be impossible dishes seem so doable if not easy. Thanks for sharing your recipes and techniques.
Oh my gosh Marcy. I just made this- but I cut the recipe in half(not sure I’d like this due to the minimal ingredients). OMG!!! Will definitely double this recipe next time!!! Thanks for sharing!
Howdy from south Texas, this is our new favorite for making tortillas. My wife and I tried this recipe last night and they were mighty good. Soft and flexible , you don't need butter but yup , put it anyway hot off the comal for more flavor. We shared some with my sister in law and she and her Grand kids loved them as well. We are a close Tex Mex family here and my Hispanic in-laws judge all food Mexican by their moms cooking. She was a dang good cook.Keep up the awesome videos . God Bless.
Ohh Goodness.. I just made a batch. They came out Soo Deliciously Soft and Pillowy.. I normally have a tester that gets tossed with a traditional recipe, I struggled forever to copy my Mom's recipe, she could produce a stack of tortillas faster than anyone I've ever known. With 7 children. She made them daily.. I knew watching Your video this was the recipe for me!! They all look and Taste Perfect!! I said, Mary, you can Make them just like Marcy's .. I'm so excited .. they do look like them.. !! 😊🥰😊 Thank You Sweet Friend for Sharing this recipe with us. You are a Treasure to Me!! Blessing to you 💛 Sweetly, Mary
Hope this recipe works for you. I'd say it's pretty fail proof. Not sure what issues you've had with other recipes, but resting your dough makes a pretty big difference in all tortillas. Don't give up.
Marcy is so cool. Total NM girl. I remember from living in Albuquerque. Anyway I made em. Delicious. Rolling em out takes some practice. Now I know why some people use a tortilla press. Marcy, maybe show a tortilla press.
@@marcyinspired1442 it was delicious! Perfect for cold, rainy Seattle weather. I cut the tortilla recipe in half, the dough was not as sticky as yours but it still turned out great. I will definitely make again. Thank you!
I could smell them as you put them on the comal! Brought back childhood memories. I will now be making homemade tortillas for my husband! He's never had them fresh! Thanks for another awesome recipe!
So I am just about to cook my tortillas in my double cast iron pan! First time using this recipe! Very much a novice!!!!! I’ll let you know how they turn out!!! Thank you! George
These looked so soft! I've never heard of making them like this. These would probable be good fried too like Indian fry bread. Today I'm gonna try to make your pumpkin empanada recipe. I've been craving them. Thanks for the new recipe Marcy!
That's awesome. In a couple of weeks I'll be sharing my recipe for meat empanadas. You will LOVE them. The dough is similar to fry bread. Thanks for the comment. Have a nice weekend!
IKR, I had seen this on Instagram video too & it caught my attention, now I need for myself look for lactose free heavy whipping creme so I can try it & also start to use the Blue Bird flour I seem to like this flour the best.
Yes! I know a lot of people who only use Blue Bird flour. Plus, you gotta love the sack it comes in. As for the lactose free heavy whipping cream, I know Silk makes one.
Had you already heard of these tortillas made with heavy whipping cream? I never would have imagined it. They were delicious. Even if I won't make tortillas like this every time, I think it's fun to try new things. Let me know in the comments if you'll be giving this recipe a try.
I‘m definitely going to try this recipe out. I think I already know how they will taste and feel in the mouth. I suspect a popular restaurant I used to go to used a similar recipe for their hot handmade tortillas they’d send hot to the table as a starter rather than chips.
I tried these before, served them with breakfast during one of our balloon rallies. Everyone loved them!! I use a small sifter to sprinkle flour onto the counter surface that way it is more evenly spread out and I don't get as much flour onto the comal when I cook them. Delicious indeed!!!
Thank you so much for this great recipe! I recently tried my hand at making flour tortillas using butter instead of lard...I did ok in terms of taste...not so ok in terms of softness and pliablility. So I am super excited to try this recipe with heavy cream instead...thank you for the great tips!
Hi, loved your video, first time I saw your site! I tried making the tortillas, but because I was trying to make them low carb, I added almond flour, flax meal & oat bran. They tasted great, but could not roll them up- so we just put peanut butter and jelly on them, so we could at least use them. We will try them again, Thanks!
Thanks for watching & commenting. Love that you tried adapting the recipe. Even if it didn't turn out exactly how you wanted it the first time, trial and error eventually leads to the perfect recipe.
Thank you for your very detailed and wonderfully presented video. I'm going to try this for the first time today, but I'm going to use whole wheat flour.
So I cut the recipe in half as I'm going to also make this using regular flour for my wife..... I noticed, though, that with the whole wheat flour, I had to use more heavy whipping cream than what the recipe called out for.
Thank you for this simple 3 ingredients recipe. I will definitely try them. One question, on what temp is the skillet for cooking the tortillas? Thank you in advance for your reply❤

I love your recipes. Thank you so much. It makes me want to try this tortilla recipe because you use whipping cream. Can you make ahead and freeze? I’m wanting to make them for Christmas Eve. Thank you
Hi Marcy and thank you so much for this recipe. 🙏🏻 I recently went to New Mexico to visit my son and family and they have a store there where you can get fresh and piping hot homemade tortillas!! They always give them away to kids for free. Well..this big “kid” just had to try them! Wow!! I’ve never tasted a freshly made homemade tortilla before! What a delicious treat! And it set me on my quest to try and make these myself. I do have a question though. Can evaporated canned whole milk be used in place of heavy whipping cream? I often use this as a substitute for heavy cream as it’s a pantry staple of mine that I always have on hand:) I have liked this video and you have a new subscriber too! 🤗 🍁
They almost look like corn tortillas, I thought they were at first. Normal flour tortillas use flour and lard or butter cut in to the dough, and water, cream is just wetter butter, so it makes sense. I wonder how pita bread is made, maybe they use yogurt or something.
I'm not sure what I did wrong. I cut the recipe in half and the mixture seemed very dry...I had to keep adding more heavy cream. I think mine are going to come out tough. The dough doesn't look soft like yours. 😟
I tried your recipe. They looked and tasted elastic. That whipped cream does not contain any ingredients related to tortillas. Flour tortillas are made of all purpose flour, salt, baking powder, lard and warm water.

What ingredients does the whipping cream consist off that replaces the lard, baking powder for original homemade tortillas?

Hey Marcy, love your vids! Will the tortillas go bad/moldy sooner using the whipping cream instead of lard? Thanks much!
Keeping the tortilla's in the covered dish immediatley off the griddle is a huge key secret in keeping them soft as they cool. 😉
I'm making these today with red chili and potatoes. Any idea when you can make your refried beans recipe?
I've already got my next two Saturdays covered, but maybe I can share that the following week.
Great job. Send me a dozen. LOL 😂😂😂
? .... What brand is your comal? ....is looks nice and thick
How high is the heat for the hot griddle? I'm using a gas stove. Do you use any oil at all or is the skillet completely dry?
It's a medium high heat, and the skillet should be completely dry.
can you use wheat flour for this
It seems like the whipping cream made it easier to knead the dough verses making it with water salt and butter I’ll have to try them this way
It was easy to knead. Definitely worth a try.
yes I seen this on TikTok too look interesting
I was surprised by how good they turned out.
Just wondering if these tortilla can be fried in oil to make crispy tacos.
Corn tortillas are always best for crispy tacos, in my opinion. I wouldn't fry these myself, but let me know if you do.
The Milk ... is it used cold, warm rm temp ?

How did this turn yellow?
The heavy whipping cream makes them a bit yellow, but not too bad.
I’ll bet peanut butter on these would be delish!!!
For sure. If they're good on their own, you can just imagine how much better they are with anything else you love.
You can even use yogurt or coconut cream.
Just a tip: use your hand or a paper towel and put pressure on it while cooking to make them fluffy. Honestly they look undercooked.
Can we see your original tortilla recipe?
Always fun to try new trends, but wow heavy whipping cream would boost the fat content too high.
Very true. And, making tortillas with heavy cream is also more expensive. But, like you said, it's fun to try new things once in a while.

That's a good point about cream just being wetter butter. There's a bit of a yellow tint to these tortillas, too. Delicious, though.
