It doesn't work like that, it would be nice but unfortunately you have to spend the dollars. It's a process....

@@everydaydose7779 its not dampening, look at the entire bell crank system flexing and bouncing.. getting to fancy where a rising rate system is all their talking about.
Im willing to bet it might be the traction control cutting the throttle when he shifts gears or gets on the gas. Or its just the g forces moving his foot. Either way, if it's throttle by wire it could probably be programmed to be less sensitive to diver inout for a smoother ride. The heave spring and roll bar might also be too stiff the main springs and causing the suspension to become less independent
Plus it's destroked so the rpm is way higher than average LS also the torque figures will be way down even tho HP is high because of the destroked crankshaft. Plus it's a 400 cubic inch engine with good heads and cam and good intake so it flows very well at high RPM So it's not that special of tuning being done to achieve those figures. So yes he did a great job but it's more the setup than the tuner

And the best Dad ever award goes too........ Cavan is Humble Smart and talented. The only way to build a car like that is to be able to understand what you are creating and reaching that goal without cutting corners. I have been in the car hobby for 45 years now, and have built some decent stuff, but nothing at this level.
First thoughts on the looks. Definitely keeps the Pontiac firebird lines which is nice. Especially the front nose and rear end. The canards look to be on steroids along with the rear HUGE diffuser. The rear wing is huge to ! To much for my liking for the street but if this car is going to the Indy road course, go for it. Pretty much a Mad Max theme gone 2nd gen firebird with way more input. The fabrication and functionality is second to none. Suspension definitely needs to be dialed in. Love the twin turbo LS power. Tons and tons of hours went into this build and it shows. I would like to see it compete with like competitors on the track and see how she does. Very cool build and respect for the time and effort put into it.
I wish my father had the skills this father does so he could have patiently raised me into something that I could truly support myself with like his son has =D
I mean this in the best way… but when budget, Motorsports resources and brains collide… 👍🏼 I loved “a guy from McLaren taught me to weld…” 😂 Kudos to father and son on an amazing machine 🤘🏼
This was an amazing build! I am almost ashamed to ask if you’re gonna be on the East Coast soon! I’m up in New Jersey and I have a tribute car to my Dad that I’m working on, nothing anywhere close to this beast! It’s just a 1969 Dodge Super Bee clone with NA 750 HP that I got off of a new friend. He had it setup for 1/8th mile with a 3 speed 4,000 stall converter, but I just had a 6 speed Tremec Magnum installed because I’m going to drive it more, and I haven’t been able to mat the pedal since I’ve had it, because as soon as I hit part way past half way it’s already on the limiter! Next is a full Hotchkis suspension front and rear and a possible brake upgrade (it’s been converted to disc brakes all around) but with the extra speed and handling I think larger brakes maybe required! If that doesn’t get your motor running, it’s matte black smoked out windows with the red Superbee stripe and the horn from the 70’s movie THE CAR! One thing that is close to this one is that it throws so much air pressure when it’s running that it will rip your hat off your head and clear any lawn clippings that happen to be behind it with every power pulse 😍🥰🥰 either way these guys were awesome, and so are you guys for bringing us quality content!
New build, big areo, crazy suspension, and meaty tires. Needs time to dial everything in. Few thousand pounds of down force makes things tricky to get right. I'm sure they'll get it sorted in time
Unfortunately porpoising is extremely common on cars with massive downforce. Happens when breaking in Time Attack cars all the time with their big aero. Balancing up to 6000lbs of downforce is quite an art even on a race track. Lots of R&D and shakedown time.
@@replynotificationsdisabled I didn't imply they don't know what they're doing, only that the suspension being terrible is the result of not being tuned, not cuz of aero.

And the best Dad ever award goes too........ Cavan is Humble Smart and talented. The only way to build a car like that is to be able to understand what you are creating and reaching that goal without cutting corners. I have been in the car hobby for 45 years now, and have built some decent stuff, but nothing at this level.
Cavan is such a humble and brilliant young man. Will be fun to watch his career blossom. And his Dad Russel is as cool as it gets
@@AutotopiaLA Would have been a dream to have Russel as a dad, Man the knowledge he could pass down.
They didn’t built it to look pretty. Everything has intent as they continue shakedown, tuning and ultimately go racing with it
This is one of the best car videos I've ever seen and with one of the coolest cars I've ever seen. I've owned two firebird 70 and 72 both over 500 hp.
Complete insanity🤯
He should be doing some time attack events, or pikes peak!
The plan is to get it dialed and working right then go do time attack with it
@@AutotopiaLA Looking to hunt down a certain Vette?
It's amazing what you can get done when your rich and don't have to go to work
You completely missed the story here
I wish my father had the skills this father does so he could have patiently raised me into something that I could truly support myself with like his son has =D
My dad didn't turn wrenches but there were plenty of gearheads in the neighborhood. I just hung out with older guys who could teach me. Go for it!
If you close your eyes when their doing pulls, it sounds like its 1989, your at Spa, driving the Sauber C9. Pure music.
That has to be one of the biggest compliments ever 🔥
I mean this in the best way… but when budget, Motorsports resources and brains collide… 👍🏼
I loved “a guy from McLaren taught me to weld…” 😂
Kudos to father and son on an amazing machine 🤘🏼
My first car was a 1977 Camaro , I have had a lifelong love for the F-body ever since .
Badass. Just badass.
Yeah
That car would shake your guts out, it bounces so much.
Probably set up for the racetrack. I'm sure there's plenty of adjustability in the system.
New build, big areo, crazy suspension, and meaty tires. Needs time to dial everything in. Few thousand pounds of down force makes things tricky to get right. I'm sure they'll get it sorted in time
The split window in the back like the old corvette is a classic touch
I am titillated beyond description due to this savage beast! Let the horses fly freely! Like #40.
This is such a cool episode. Watched the edit and had 0 notes. It’s that kinda good imo
How passionate Cavan is about the car is so cool. Keep it up!
A summer project…huh. I built a stick frame treehouse for my grandkids. Does that count? 😂
lol!!
i bet the kids get just as much enjoyment outta it!
This needs to be seen running up Pike's Peak... That'd be one hell of a wild ride.
bouncy
Yep. Bumpy roads tend to do that. They’re in early days of shakedown and tuning
Unfortunately porpoising is extremely common on cars with massive downforce. Happens when breaking in Time Attack cars all the time with their big aero. Balancing up to 6000lbs of downforce is quite an art even on a race track. Lots of R&D and shakedown time.
@@dons1932 That's not what's happening here. It's just completely untuned suspension.
@@bassmunkmaybe they're testing everything else? Let's not be gay and assume shit.
@@replynotificationsdisabled I didn't imply they don't know what they're doing, only that the suspension being terrible is the result of not being tuned, not cuz of aero.
One of the best builds I've ever seen
Dodge posuers leave the neon yellow splitter guards on the plastic splitter and these real car guys jump on the carbon splitter and throw tools on it.😂
Exactly lol!
SICK..Engineering-Minds at its Best..Father & Son Bond/Chemistry is what made this Happen..Inspiring for other Father & Son projects out there..Nicely Done..😎👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You got it! Such an inspiring story with these two
That suspension bounce, the rocking back and forth is nutty.
Does this win the "make Shawn piss himself" award? It must be the best sounding turbo V8 on the planet.
Nah the guy completely ramming into the back of another car at a red light won that award a while back! 😂
Lots I could say here but I’ll let you think you’re funny 🤦♂️
One of the wildest rides I’ve ever experienced
would love to see this and the hoonicorn run
That ride quality looks horrific lol 😂
Early shakedown and on an extremely bumpy road. Pretty sure a former Indy car crew chief might know a bit about suspension
@@AutotopiaLAseems odd to pour thousands of hours into the development of the weight distribution etc then take someone for a drive with out dialling it in first. Each to their own I spose
The bounce on decel and gear changes is pretty obvious.
This is definitely the coolest thing this page has ever had
Impressive father-son project!
Definitely 💪
I am building my dream V12 supercar 😎
It’s great to see your face when you get in these awesome cars from track to street.. love watching your videos
Over the top build…..never realized the sheer amount of talent lurking in the Midwest….and I’m from WI lol….fantastic series…hats off 🙌🏻
Some of the best in the biz are all in the Midwest
the potential of a parent who wants their child taught right and can afford the best education...we should all aspire to be parents like this
Wow, awesome absolutely insane over the top build!!!
I wonder about the tube frame though: doesn't seem triangulated as much as it could be? (from a laymans perspective)
We need to see this thing run up pikes peak. Please please please.
