Hey Biffa, any chance you could start numbering the episodes of this city specifically? Then if I miss an episode here or there, it'll be easy to find, or to binge-watch it after the fact! :)
The algorithm doesn’t favour series with large numbers. I don’t know about you but when new channels or videos pop up in my feed it’s never episode 43!
The decorated section looks awesome. I was doubtful when you started but it looks great. I’m not sure if the extra fences are really necessary but the trees lining the roads and paths really makes a difference.
Biff my guy! on the BOB menu at the top "Replacement Mode" there's two sets of buttons. On the second set, if you choose the first icon, it will only replace the selected instance of that building, not all of them. EASY!
Biffa joining the detailing gang could lead to certain ramifications, specifically becoming Keralis 2.0! haha * Keralis voice * *_ALL ZE BUSHES! Lots and LOTS of bushes!_*
I'm glad you're taking your time with this build and adding detailing. Looks so much better and it doesn't feel rushed. I think this place should be called "Port-au-Teaco", a nice, relaxed Caribbean island build.
I guess my only queries would be the new school and funeral care being placed towards the shore side of town, most new houses were added to the rear of the town so surely new elementary and high schools would be better served on that side of town? Also is there a good option for cycle paths, just feel like that would help mobility around town and link in well to the pedestrianised area as well? Really liking the aesthetic of the build, those eco homes look fantastic!
The only way I know of in game to have pedestrian and bicycle pathways work together, is if you get the modded pathway that is a combo of the two. It is something I find rather frustrating when making my own vanilla cities, forgetting that only with that mod am I able to have a functional multi-modal pathway where they can interact and share use of it. In my own current build series, I had completely forgotten it until I tried and realized they're completely separated path types that are incompatible modes in-game.
Yay for detailing! :D Thanks for the great new tips. An additional thought: There are a bunch of tiny park "side yards" on the workshop (and I made some of those) that I like to dot in those 1u. wide spots. Those really help with land value and are an easy way to add variety. And especially behind row houses, I like to put the brick amusement park path with benches and trees--it just looks quite nice. Or you could put one of the other park paths there. I will also make a Forest Brush with a variety of trees for this build and use that on a very small size to bash in trees in those funny interstices. It's all good!👍
Community gardens would make an absolute beautiful addition to the new town Biffa. Plus it would really help match the green and pleasant vibe going on with this city.
Ooh, look at Biffa getting all uber detailed on us! What a huge difference it makes in comparison! PS4 version won't even let you over lap trees and foliage! It'll mean slower progress Biffa, but hey, that just means more fantastic episodes for the Biffa faithful to enjoy!
Yes Biffa!! I knew there was a detailer inside of you!! I'm so glad he has come out to play, looking fabulous so far. Long may it continue, very excited for this series 👍👍
To rotate fences: Use the move it mod to select the items you want, select the rotate on center function, and while holding (I think it's) shift or alt to snap to angle (45 or 90?), you can drag the mouse around and the fences will rotate appropriately!
I thought there was an option in BOB to only change the asset you selected. I think it's at the top on the left where it says 'Replacement mode'. It's one of the 6 boxes. That way you can remove the fences/change tress but it only affects what you have selected and not future placements of the same asset. I might be wrong but I think I've seen someone else do it.
The amount of detail you are putting into these cities is just mind blowing. I love it. Keeps me mesmerized, watching through the episodes one after another like a good Netflix show. Suddenly you realize the sun is coming up and you have no videos left.
a true artist makes more with less, it's more about what you can take out with it still feeling like a piece of artwork, while making it look even better. I've been watching your CS series since I think the beginning and it's amazing how much more attention to details you have gained along the way.
hey biffa, tiny detail, but it fits with the episode😊 i think the loop around the new elementary school should be one way rather than two way. it’s just more realistic, and might prevent driver confusion later game. loving the new city so far💜
Top drawer work Biffa. It looks stunning. For some smaller parks, check out Larry Skylines on the workshop, there's quite a few to choose from on his page.
I love using the self sufficient eco buildings but everything you did makes the area truly look like it should! I definitely need to use your tips and start applying them to my neighborhoods!
I really like all the detailing I think all of your cities need this much detail it just makes the city, also I think that hill area near the sea could be a cool little camping park spot!
I love this new series and the style you're playing here ❤❤❤. An IMT trick is that you can apply the marking to the whole street or until next intersection as well so you don't need to copy paste or apply the template to all the different segments!
I wish you would unlock all the tiles from the get-go for once, instead of following the vanilla progression. I think the vanilla way of doing it constrains you to building everything right next to each other, while unlocking all the tiles would allow you to have little hamlets and parks all over the map - making everything more interesting and unique.
Well, covid finally hit my household and your videos are about the only thing I have the energy to sit and watch. Thanks for the relief from a very boring weekend
I love the idea of off-setting the houses in order to make room for paths. I’m going to try something similar in my next build using bike paths to help people get to and from places.
It struck me when you were talking about how you wished that the houses and gardens butted against each other is that during the previous episode you placed the residential zoning blocks with separation - Presumably with pathways in the future in mind. Regardless, another build series to look forward to, so a win for everybody.
When you're adding footpaths - especially when they cross over a road and continue on the other side - don't forget to add a pedestrian crossing at that point, even if it's an invisible one on a minor road, otherwise pedestrians can't cross and have to walk a long way round.
Biffa im sure you know there is a setting in TPME to chage it to dedicated turning lanes or trafficlights automatically :) Also thanks for the Revo MCM - i have been looking for something like that
I do good(ish), when I want to see great, I tune into Biffa, Yumble, HK, City Planner, and a few others. My cities never look as pretty, but they function. Mostly, thanks to a lot of techniques I've learned from the experts. Do I do Lane Mathematics? Why, yes I do, guess where I learned it?
When you used Bob at the start you can actually change the fences for the individual asset and you can also add props to an asset as well, could you have done that ?
Another series, jeeejj! Love your work Biffa! In light of a previous video you made about collector roads and the connections to them, don't you have too many roads connected to your collector roads in this new city?
Avanya made a whole bunch of beautiful planters and things that will work. For those small spaces that can use a park but none fit, I made myself some small parks that range in size from 1 x 1 up to 6 x 6 squares. They're not super spectacular but work really well for those situations.
Biffa, I've often wondered why you take the approach of zoning out individual 4x4 plots rather than just zoning an entire city block - If a single cell in skylines is 5x5m leaving a 5m gap between properties seems unusual, unless it was in a high value area of the city? Just curious what would happen if you just zoned the entire block?
I'm Not Biffa lol, but, when I do it I also pick zone for 4x4 because if just zone whole area there may be 4x4's 3x4's 2x4' and sometimes 1x4's , where as when I use the smoke detector would be paying quite more with more than just 4x4s , than also if disasters or removing building if zoned 4x4 than that's what would come back instead of questionable sizes, also with the benefactors would cost much more with many different sized rather than maxed 4x4, I'm not champ like biffa so many of my maps are grid like , also play ps4 so not all the mods I watch on this channel and always max 9 tile 🙃, 4x4's seem to be helping me as I try unlock unique buildings, island hopping took quite bit of tries lol
Another amazing episode Biffa. Good job. Got just one irk about your detailing.. I know that they say that "its all about the trees", but there are other ways to detail too. Kinda feel there are too many trees at times. How about some stones, gravel piles, and other things usually found in neighborhoods? A neighborhood is not only trees and roads (for the most part). @@amandadeloff4278 Yes, but for the most part, he uses trees. I just wish he could calm it down and use some other props like you suggested. Its not that hard. Other than that, this was another stellar Biffa episode.
Rather than the big fat avenue road going around the back of the neighborhood next to the hill, for the narrow section you could use the new vanilla 4 lane two way road. Same capacity but narrower road.
I love all your builds but I must pick a small hole with your detailing in this one. Mid Century Modern developments were particularly noted for their open plan aesthetic - front yards would never have been fenced to the street and certainly not walled! Hello Biffa. Everything on this episode was excellent EXCEPT: those wooden fences (the kind you put around the parks), in the natural color, look far too rural for a modern, planned, eco-building area. A uniform wood slatted fence or some sort of steel fencing would fit the theme much better. The fences you used are more suitable for Horse or crop farms. Otherwise - I love the detailing episodes. Just don't get too "grid happy".
Fully opaque fences feels like such a British thing. 😅 😂 It's what disturbs me most since moving here, instead of big open lushus green yards where kids can run around freely and play across each other's yards.

Yea if he's worried about views then just put it at the end of the title or the description
Yes please!
I'm sure he will when he's got a name to the city, so that he can number the episodes linked to the city name.
Like EVERY other of he’s videos, he creates a playlist for them! You could start there

My exact thought
The decorated section looks awesome. I was doubtful when you started but it looks great. I’m not sure if the extra fences are really necessary but the trees lining the roads and paths really makes a difference.
At this level, I find it isn't about what is necessary, but rather making it look the best you can.
I like that you have taken a more detailed incremental aproach to this city, it sure takes a lot more work but the end result is much better
