The Man on the Moon series gotta be one of musics most underrated trilogies. I’ve shown my friends Cudis music of course, many think he is just the Day N Nite guy but they don’t realize he makes amazing music 😂
This album never fails to make me cry because I found out about cudi through the collabs with kanye and I was going through so much at the time and it helps me reflect and realize how far I've come
ACT 1: The End of Day In My Dreams: • CuDi falling asleep (It's the end of day) • Setting up the "Dream" metaphor for the album Soundtrack to My Life: • CuDi's backstory • Death of his father • Struggling mother Simple As...: • CuDi's childhood years (ABC/123) • Start of CuDi feeling he's different from others ACT 2: Rise of the Night Terrors Mr. Solo Dolo: • CuDi's a loner and outcast Heart of a Lion (KiD CuDi Theme): • CuDi's internal battles in the dream or "nightmare" My World: • CuDi's transition from childhood to adulthood • CuDi moves from Cleveland to Brooklyn ACT 3: Takin' a Trip This Act is basically CuDi's experiment with drugs to cope through his loneliness and depression. This part of the album is "Trippy"... hence Takin' a Trip Day N Nite: • "The Loner Stoner" Sky Might Fall: • "Sky might be falling, but remember you could fly (HIGH)" Enter Galactic: • CuDi's experiment with Psychedelic Mustrooms ACT 4: Stuck This act is like the party portion: Sex, Drugs an Alcohol Alive: • CuDi on the prowl for sex but wants a pure woman to cure him being a sexual maniac • Drugs and alcohol turns CuDi into a beast Cudder Zone: • CuDi is in his zone and stoned Make Her Say: • CuDi himself says this song is the fantasy part of the dream, so this songs fits into the drug, alcohol and "sex" theme of this act. Pursuit of Happiness: • CuDi tries to find happiness through alcohol which is why this is a "Nightmare" ACT 4: A New Beginning Hyyer: • This marks the morning and end of the dream • CuDi's wake and bake Up, Up, and Away: • CuDi is fully awake from his dream accepting himself with a middle finger to the Judgemental Cunts
The moon is pretty much my place of peace, whether it’s a room or my mind. It’s really your own personal space. It could be interpreted any different way. I didn’t wanna have it so literal. I want kids to interpret it and find their own moon in their world. - Kid Cudi (via HipHopDX)
Words can’t describe how much this album means to me. This album single handedly picked me up out of the depression I was in and saved me. I always thank god for allowing me to have been able to listen to this album because of it was for Scott idk where I would be
I think the album’s theme is about Cudi hating reality so tries to only dream about a reality where everything is great however it goes wrong when he has nightmares about reality and how inevitable and inescapable it is and by the end accepts it and who he is great vid I was surprised there wasn’t many people doing kid cudi album analysis’
I know I’m mad late but this is something I’ve wanted for a fat min lol and really enjoyed the vid I’ll be checking out the motm2 vid in a bit and subscribed
THANK YOU! Honestly I appreciate all the ppl rhat are still watching and just know you're not alone lol... id say more ppl watch this video now than when it came out, ironically tho im listening to motm 2 as we speak
Such a good video! You did a really good job. I first heard the album when it came out but I only got a chance to listen to the radio songs like Make her say, Day n Nite, and pursuit of happiness while over friends houses back then. Listened to the full thing tonight and it’s amazing. Can’t believe I waited this long to hear it out. Glad I got recommended your vid right after.
This is awesome to hear, I made this for someone like you and honestly I do encourage listening to some of the tracks on MOTM 2 if you enjoyed this and some of MOTM 3 as well... don't know if you'll enjoy the whole thing depending on which are your favs tho
@@KingBenny just finished MOTM 2. I really enjoyed this album. there are a handful of bangers on here as well. I really like how it's more upbeat yet still dark and eerie. I kind feel like this feels darker in the matter that he seems more emotional and depressed on this one. like we kind of see him spiral into his own head, often using substance as a means of coping or getting from day to day. this feels very familiar to parts of the last album. he really is meshing and bending different genres on this which is cool. super solid album. I still like MOTM 1 the best.
@@superultragiggachigga MOTM 2 is definitely an album that grows over time... especially the latter half... for me MOTM 1 was better than MOTM 2 for some time but as time goes on the gap between the two slims down to the point that you could go either way
Personally i think that "take a trip" actually also means to assume drugs in order to escape the nightmares, as STUCK comes in with alive (stuck alive) "everytime the moon shines i become alive" could be you know the addiction. I just thought that watchin the video, great video man
I didnt think about that but I think it goes hand in hand with him escaping reality but yeah you're right btw thanks I appreciate it, i have one for MOTM 2 which is a bit better edited than this one and the MOTM 3 one should drop this week or next week
Just got a call from my sister saying she got tickets to see kid cudi live at the O2 arena in November and she made me guess who it be we seeing n i said xiu xiu which would have been sick but man kid cudi saved my life and I owe it to him to at least see the motm so psyched for this imma addict outcast who is still here so let's get it love my sister the same as ever second only to her having a daughter hence making me an uncle man I'm blessed
ngl... i dont stand by like 30% of the breakdowns for man on the moon... you gain perspective as you grow and ive grown a lot since making this video so i see some things differently
@@KingBenny this is probably the best video i’ve seen explaining an album. you make it easy to understand and genuinely interesting, deserves so much more attention 💯

Sky Might Fall:
• "Sky might be falling, but remember you could fly (HIGH)"

• CuDi is in his zone and stoned
