Oh and a little extra info if you didn't already know. But if you hit the lock button on the key fob 1 time you hear the horn beep, hit the lock button again and you'll hear it beep, then hit the unlock button and you just discovered that your jeep came with remote start. Mine does and starts every time. The horn beeps a 3rd time. The lights flash and then it automatically locks the jeep back so nobody can get in and drive away. Try it, yours might be that way too.
Just remember, hit lock twice, it will beep once each time. So 2 beeps, then hit unlock, and watch it crank over and start before your eyes. Who knew. We all do now.
    Thanks Sam

Our used Jeep JK came with one key fob. Purchased a new Jeep fob on EBAY with all the functions with blank key. Took the fob to my local dealer and they programed and cut the new key. Way cheaper than buying the key fob from the Jeep dealership.

I have a 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. For no reason, all the fobs stopped working; fortunately each fob has a key inside that allows me to open the doors.
I tried many suggestions from RUclips videos; all went nowhere. I called an auto locksmith; he was stumped. And finally a worker from Advanced Auto was so frustrated, he just gave me two free fob batteries. (He thought it was the batteries).
In this video, Sam says it could be broken soldering in the fob, but this is not the issue in my case.
Also interesting, I switched back and forth between lock and unlock on the door panel, and after about 4 or 5 repetitions, the Jeep started !!! No clue what THAT was!!! And then I had to figure out how to shut off the vehicle !!! (I forgot what I did but I got it to shut off).
It was suggested to me to take the vehicle to a Jeep dealer but I think it would be cheaper to pay for someone's surgery or childbirth than pay a bill from the Jeep dealer.
This can't be rocket science. I KNOW it's an easy task for someone who has experience with this issue.

It has factory auto remote start on it, just hit lock twice in a row from the fob, then unlock once from the fob and she starts. To shut it off, just repeat the steps backwards. Hit unlock and then lock at she shuts off.

I have a question, did all models have the remote start? my jeep grand cherokee 2007 does not start like this, do you need to install a remote start module?

Sam, I've got an 06 white grand cherokee limited. My key fob works fine, 99% of the time. But being that the other 1% doesn't happen too often, I got to kearn it the hard way. I can't seem to find an answer for it. The 1% my key fob didn't unlock the doors. Well I just walked up to the door and inserted the key, BUT, my keys won't turn the latch in the door to unlock it. Both driver and passenger side, and there is no mechanism for the hatch to unlock it, as well as my upper glass part of the hatch would not raise either. It starts the jeep. Both keys fit the ignition and start it. But they do not fit the mechanism in the doors to allow it to even turn. Any idea what might be causing that issue.

@Davidittrell5615 with your key fob failing occasionally. I had the same problem with mine. I have a video on how to fix the key fob for this type problem. I found when I opened my key fob, the battery holder had one connection that the solder connection came loose. It was just touching and sometimes would not touch. I resoldered it and it worked 100%. Just move the battery holder up and down a little and see if you have a unsoldered connection. I think it happens when you change the battery, it get stress from removing the battery. A common problem with other people. The key not turning the lock, but starts the car is a mystery to me also. Try your other key. One other thing to try is try to lock the car door with the key to see what happens. Good Luck.

@Sam Owens hey Sam. Yeah I've tried noth keys to unlock the doors and neither work in the doors, but both fit the ignition and the glove compartment, but not the doors. The autostart I actually found on RUclips, the guy never spoke. He just showed his key fob and demonstrated how to start the jeep and then how to shut it off. He put the directions on the screen in steps. So I go get the key fob. I hit lock 2 times in a row. The horn beeps. Then.i hit unlock once. The jeep starts on its own. The horn beeps twice to confirm it has started. Then once to lock the doors and they all lock as soon as it beeps. I hit my unlock again when I'm ready to get in, then I put the key in the ignition and just turn it over to the acc or like it's started I just don't past that. Starts everything and locks doors everything. It stays running for 10 minutes then shuts itself off. It's really cool because that jeep does not have the auto start option on it. Thanks Again Sam. Have a good one sir.

The door lock issue may be from a new key that was programmed or new lock cylinders.

    • @samowens44
      @samowens44  2 года назад

@Desert Fox, what I tried to demonstrate is that the battery cage comes up from its solder connection and you need to resolder it. This happens when you attempt to change the battery. It is hard to show as it is small area. If you look at your key remote all around the battery retaining cage you will see it move in the solder connection as you pull up on it. Hope this leads you to know what to do now. Pull up on the battery cage and look for movement at the soldered connection, if so, that is where you need to resolder the connection.

@benjaminhaugen5759 I am saying the problem is a loose solder connection at the battery mounting location. Look very close all around and move the area with your finder to find the point that is the bad connection. It is at the battery location.

aseymonwhite open case as I show and describe. You will see the large round battery. The support that holds the battery is soldered to the circuit board. Take the battery out, then examine the solder connections for loose movements when you attempt to move the battery holder frame. If you spot movement, That is a loose connection and needs to be soldered. That is what others have found by watching my video and fixed their remote. Just look at it, you can do it.
