My man can make a perfect beef wellington, yet can’t make a grilled cheese
Ramsay really is a human of all time
He put 100% of his skills in one recipe.
Yup and he literally burned the bread and somehow didn’t melt the cheese
lmao ramsay is the person who made this dish what it is, that is a level beyond mastery of said dish
Wait, he can’t make grilled cheese?
Well grilled cheese is stupid hard. Why would you fry a cheese sandwich? Why?! That’s just weird. Use a toasty maker or eat a cheese sandwich, frying the whole thing would ruin both fried bread and a cheese sandwich and a toasty all at the same time.
If you don’t have a toasty maker lurking at the back of a cupboard like most people, for some reason, then just use a toaster for the toast then melt some cheese, pour it on one, close it up, then enjoy the absolute worst sandwich experience you’ll ever have because what I just said would suck.
it’s more time consuming than difficult. but worth every minute especially if you’re making the pastry from scratch 🤤
Puff pastry from scratch makes no difference except for a waste of time. Believe me when I say this, buying it from the store is way more convenient and sometimes better quality.
@@bajablast8216 The only exception would be if you can't find puff pastry made with actual butter.
@@bajablast8216always make sure you get the good puff from a dealer, got it.
@@bajablast8216 this is the way
@@bajablast8216Store-bought is a convenient stand-by, but only if you can find a butter-based pastry. Usually it'll be margarine or vegetable oil. And when I take the time I find making it from scratch invariably results in a lighter more layered pastry.
PS what confuses me is he doesn't mention the biggest problem with this dish, which is meat juices soaking into the bottom of the pastry during cooking, making it soggy and disgusting. Either you only encase the top and sides, OR you have to do something complicated involving pricking the bottom layer and elevating the whole thing on a grid above the baking sheet.

This guy: the hardest to make in the entire world
It's not that hard to make. It's just a lot of steps, a lot of prep, and a lot of time. The beef part isn't complicated. Using pre-made puff pastry makes that much easier. The duxelle is easy to make. This video also left out the crepes, mustard coating, and prosciutto that go between the beef and pastry. It also really helps to wrap and chill each layer as it's added, so it takes a while to make it.
thats why it's Hard Difficult tho
@@rin0847 I mean something being tedious or slow doesn't make it annoying, and if it does baklava definitely deserves a higher spot than beef Wellington tbh

Beef Wellington is not difficult to make. It's a little labor-intensive but the difficulty just isn't there. This is especially true since you can buy puff pastry at the store and it will taste just as good as homemade.
Thank you
Yup, the toughest part is not overcooking it.
Not so much hard as just technically demanding. It requires pulling together a lot of different skills in the kitchen, along with having your timing on point for an extended period. There's a reason that Ramsey uses it so much with students and contestants on his shows, it's a great sort of "measuring stick" dish. So I guess the "hard" description is only true if you struggle with those skills, but then practice does make perfect 👍

Damn the way he said "spend more time in the oven , more than your family" 😭😭😭
Nah it was actually super simple when I made it. The hardest part is probably butchering the meat to get the perfect cut. Puff pastry is best store bought so that’s out of the question. The mustard can be made homemade but I still bought it and simmering the mushrooms was not that bad. The oven is literally just the waiting game. Do make sure you check on it though. I honestly did not like it but it was fun
But you only go in the oven for 30-40 mins

You also have to keep everything as dry as possible in order for the dough to not be soggy at the bottom.
