Actually both are correct. Australia is both a country and a continent. Oceania includes continent Australia as well as the surrounding islands, while the continent Australia is just the land without the islands that surround it. That is why in school we learnt the continents to be Africa, Asia, Australia, Antarctica, Europe, South America and North America. In short: Australia is the actual continent while Oceania is that content as well as the surrounding islands.
