hey! just recently came across ur channell and i can tell that is one of the best hidden gems in regards of quality and usefullness all over YT... real producing. love it. keep it up my man, and thank you :))
Love that you teach the stuff you have learned from other artists over the years but you also add in your own tricks which you have come up yourself. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate, Glad you found this one useful :) I have a digitakt mk2 and you can do pretty much all these tricks on there with a little effort and a few workarounds. I would highly reccommend checking out Digichains for the Digitakt 2 as a way to get your breaks properly chopped and running in the digitakt. digichain.brianbar.net/ I also made this video which may help you even if your on a Digitakt mk1 - ruclips.net/video/8GIYfdNk46g/видео.html

Cheers THFLW! Big ups dude :) Thanks so much for all the comments and support this year. ❤️ Hope you had a merry christmas and happy new years mate ✌️🚀
Thank you so much Artemiy! really appreciate the super thanks :) I'm looking to buy some video glitch gear to enhance my animations and fx so I will put it towards that. All the best and happy new years 🙏
Thanks bro :) Feels good to have all this info in one place now. Lots of these techniques are quite common but when you put them all together with multiple breaks shit gets crazy quite quickly! Happy New Years✌️🚀
There's definitly quite a lot of steps sometimes to prepare/process your breaks for chopping as well as all the FX techniques I show in this video. Glad this helps :) Happy new years mate ✌️🚀
One thing I would love you to do one day is on how to create your own samples. Like the ones in your packs but not for packs, but for actual composing.
Yes this would be a great idea for a video. Human Synthetics and I are going to work on a sample pack this year so it would be super cool to film some of it and share :) ✌️🚀
You can get crazy interesting accidents with modulating your snare rattles start and end times...its like with the doted 8th delay...just more expressive....tightening the loops to audio rate or getting dynamic ghosts...its so much fun to do this life. I think squarepusher did a lot of it back then
Another great trick! I sometimes do that and resample everything so you have a bunch of variations of the rattles with the end time moving around. really dope one that :) ✌️🚀

I really want to give Renoise a go, like a trip back to the 90s playing on my amiga but being so young at the time though I didn't learn a lot and none of it has stuck with me through the years. One day I will just go for it and learn how to use it but at the moment I'm really just enjoying learning Ableton and jamming. Thanks for the tutorial I'm not new to breaks but still learnt from this and very easy to follow and understand. 👍
Renoise is the best, do it! I made this video to help people get into the program - ruclips.net/video/Qwfnvs5pIcM/видео.html Once you get really comfortable in a DAW like Ableton or Logic, it's actually much easier to transfer and learn Renoise as you understand the features even though they're presented in a different way. Glad you got something out the vid anyways :) Happy New Years ✌️🚀
Any chance you'll look into making a from zero to complete (or as complete) jungle/ambient tutorial/showcase? I'd love to produce jungle, I just don't know where to begin really.
Yes! I have done this series for Renoise users which helps beginners learn the program too - ruclips.net/video/Qwfnvs5pIcM/видео.html I've been wanting to do a proper structured course in Logic on producing jungle from scratch which is one of my main goals this year :)
A missing element here is maybe the choice of breaks for different parts of the song...having a chill think, apache combo intro...switching to an all out amen tramen warfare part was always a highlight of a good track. Spinscott does this in his sessions usually to great effect
yes! I bought one at the start and like it but in the end went with Digitakt mk2 and Renoise as my combo. Just works better with my workflow but the polyend tracker is dope for sure :) ✌️🚀
Re. Programming your shakers in MIDI, what are your thoughts about this approach vs. using either a recording, a loop or a VST for shaken percussion? The nature of shakers is that they have an extremely volatile sound, and that obviously there is sound well before the transient/peak of each ‘hit’, so programmed shakers can sound quite robotic or unnatural, even with some fluctuation of the velocities programmed in. Or, for the purpose of adding just some metronomic additional drive, at 170+, does this realism not really matter quite so much?
It's actually a really good question. Realism is almost always a good thing in computer based production so if you can figure out other ways like a shaker vst for a more realistic sound then amazing. That dosent mean the shaker part wants to be sloppy though or not rhythmically tight. A good trick to use is to chop up a real shaker loop and program a different chop for each part of the shaker rhythm. But yes, in this example the shaker is really just a fill/pulse element and is not meant to stand out. In this case you might go through all that effort to make the shaker sound great in isolation, but none of that is heard in the final result and it just meshes with the breaks and other percs. ✌️🚀
I initially learn on Logic so sorta just stuck with it. It's just as good as any of the other DAWs like Ableton, Bitwig etc I use Renoise also so I have a good combo of two DAWs. More than enough really :) ✌️🚀
Ableton is an amazing DAW for pretty much any style. If i started again I would probably use Ableton and Renoise. But I chose Logic so here we are :) ✌️🚀
Drum programming is fire. Excellent sound design, sounds a little like it was produced on a tracker with all the edits. Very cool, never heard it before! 🔥
@@grooviningthe entire album is great, imo. His first album was a DJ Shadow type of hip hop record. This album was his second as I recall. Discovered him with his first album. The track Ultrasonic Sound off the Devious Methods album got picked up by an American football broadcast show as their opening track some years back. Most of the album is more jungle. I’m guessing you listened to the Devious Methods track, which is probably the most hip hop track.

He's one of the best channel for jungle production. I'm not bashing whatsoever it's just my opinion/suggestion, bec logic's audio time stretching is nowhere near as advanced as ableton.
Logic's timestretching is just as good as Abletons. It's just implemented differently but in terms of audio quality it's very similar. We can warp to markers in just the same way.

Why logic? Ableton or Renoise would be great
Why not, he makes renoise vids plenty of ableton out there
The principles are the same no matter what DAW you use. You just take the techniques and apply them to your DAW of choice.
