Creating Pads and Space FX with Amigo Beta & Free Plugins
This was going to be more or a deep dive sort of breakdown but I ran out of steam a little with this series! I love doing the animations & themes but they certainly take a hot minute.
For this video, I decided to go over my favourite two techniques I used to make the track. I especially love the pitch bending way to make effects ✨.
Big love to all my Patreon supporters.❤️ I've got a few patches saved from this project I will upload so everyone can check them out.

Wow, this was one of those project where I really pushed to the max. I’ve always been interested in trying to gamify the learning process of making music. With the help of Midjourney Ai images and Runway AI clips I’m starting to get pretty close to my vision for the videos. I think I need to work on my scripting a little better to help the story really flow but I hope everyone still enjoyed the...

This was super fun to put together and it feels great to be back diving into exciting theme likes this. It quite quickly developed into fully themed Unreal Tournament Soundtrack tribute video! 🪐 I ende...

Hello everyone, hope your all well and enjoying the last of the summer sun this side of the hemisphere! 🌎 This is a track i’ve made in tribute to the iconic Unreal Tournament soundtrack. For It blends old-school style breaks with slightly cheesy sci-fi vibes. 🔭 In particular, i’ve referenced ‘Foregone Destruction’ which is the background track for the map Facing Worlds. ruclips.net/video/eEcPak...

All My Favourite SFX & Animations From 3 Years of Music Production on YouTube
Просмотров 576Месяц назад
I thought it would be a fun idea to also make a compilations of all my favourite SFX & animations from the last 3 years! 🚀 Even though this is a music production focused channel, I probably spend more than 70% of my time editing/animating and doing the SFX for the videos. The animations certainly take a long old time so it’s nice to have them all in one place for people to check out. 🌴✌️😊 Patre...

Amigo Sampler - Amiga Commodore & Akai Timestretch VST
I like trackers. Some of my favorite video game memories growing up featured tracker tunes -- nostalgia fuel, man. But I seek to record irl instruments -- I just can't give up guitars and my MIDI controller (therefore a conventional DAW). If not for those ambitions, I would totally give Renoise a try, heck I already got along okay with Buzzmachines a while back. I would probably sink deep into the genres of ambient DnB (PS1-era menu stuff was dope), Neurofunk, ambient breaks, demoscene-era chiptunes, etc. Alas... I'm not retired and have already bitten off more than I can chew.
Good Looking absolutely changed my world!
This is a brilliant video!!! I would honestly love to see another one similar to this. I remember I was searching for tips on how to make lush pads and so many videos were sending me to buy some expensive plugins or use some expensive DAW for their effects, so at some point I decided to follow one of them, but I just copied the technique. I took a basic mono saw wave and wanted to see how far I can get with just effects and it's crazy how much you can do with layering, resampling and even stock basic effects if you just keep repeating the process. I think if you can make lush sounds with even more basic sounds you would inspire even more people. Thanks for this.
Thanks mate :) Yea there's a lot of more complicated techniques out there but achieving great results simply is often the best way to go. Another technique I love is layering multiple pad samples together which could be a great one for future vids. Big ups 😊✌️
For anyone on (M1/M2/M3..) Apple Chips use Rosseta. 1. Command Button + Space bar 2. When app (logic pro) is highlighted to open 3. Use Control + I (letter i ) to open up menu click on "use rosseta" and relaunch / Launch logic, and now ReWire options will be available in settings ! :)
Super interesting approach to create a pad! I dig it! 🙂
Thanks dude! Was fun being creative with all these free plugins. No that too complex to get a good sound going also :)
The fx sound really cool
I agree! You get such unique sounding FX for the amount of effort needed. It's mostly just about trial and error and playing around rather than tweaking synth parameters which is boring af! :)
Does the live resampling work on a base model s3000 XL also?
No I don't think so. Well my Akai s1000 definitly can't record internally. The EMU e5000 ultra can. Resampling via the computer is usually the easiest method. Then you can just re-record back into the Akai
Awesome video! Hope to see more Renoise stuff too. I’ve been finding a lot of motivation in combining modulators for instruments, like LFO + AHDSR envelopes and see how that sounds on a wicked driven filter, little stuff like that. Love the channel!
Thanks Ninjilla! Yea defs more Renoise stuff on the way. I love doing that too. One of my favourite tricks is an LFO on Amp decay on things like hi-hats. Just to change the way they ring out. Amazing on filters & Sample rate reduction like you said. Big ups dude :) ✌️
Really looking forward to all your future content ✌️
Cheers Flux - thanks for all the comments - I'm excited too! :)
@@groovining You're welcome. It's Scotty btw 👊
I love the arp to pad trick. So sick
Yea its a cool one. The best part is you can just change up the arp patch or notes and get completely different results once you have the preset sorted with the reverb & FX.
@@groovining and then play the resampled patch up and down the piano roll in parallel harmony
@@Flux_One yea exactly! resample that and load it into amigo or another sampler and play around. Add more filters etc
UK junglists -Avoid the extortionate £2 VAT charge by buying a flight to New York, downloading it at the airport, and coming back on the next flight.
Resampling is crucial. Valhalla FreqEcho can be nice for things like this as well, turning the knob & recording the output makes for great creative FX. I want to try this Amigo technique with FreqEcho & see what happens.
Great idea! I love Valhalla Freq Echo also. Amazing on drum hits with the technique like you said. Another cool one is doing it with a space echo emulation like the Arturia Tape-201. Anything that manipulates the pitch with some looping action can give crazy results. ✌️🚀
@@groovining 100%
Wish amigo could do stereo. It has really nice tools for beat chopping and mangling. Great vid!
I agree, the option for stereo or even choosing L/R would be a amazing in a future update. It's probably the only thing left to add after this next update! :)
Those chords sound exactly like the start of "all I wanna do" by Sheryl Crow !
Omg I was thinking that
Haha yes they do! Bit more glide and there literally the same 😂
Dude!! I had never thought of that technique for making fx, so useful, thank you!
Happy you found it useful mate. Yea its such an easy/fun technique to setup but provides amazing results, especially when you start swapping around the source sample. 😊
want that amigo update! Thanks for the video, I wonder if you've considered formalizing your approach and workflow into a course?
Coming very soon! Yes a course is something i've been wanting to put out for ages. I've done scripts for it in the past but never quite nailed the idea. I just wanted it to be super polished and high level so its on the back burner but is a great idea for my channel :)
@@groovining That's great to hear, I'll look forward to that ^^
beautiful.
Thanks lunanescence - glad you liked 😊✌️
Beats have a bit of a Pete Rann vibe. Thanks for sharing this walk through!
Cheers mate. Greenfly - Music has a voice ( Pete Rann remix) is a sick tune, never heard of Pete Rann before! :)
So cool, thanks for sharing! lovely track as well
Cheers Nick! Yea i've been on bit of an atmospheric jungle hype recently - enjoying the chill vibes - glad you like the tune. 😊✌️

Nice one, you are Spot on in 90s smooth Ambient Jungle. But what about the dark side of 90s Jungle? Yes you show your swordstyle before with Paradox, Photek ans Source Direct. Now its Time for the next Chambers. Go the path of the venom and Show us your Hokusai and No U Turn skills. Good luck young Shaolin.
show us the Jungle Techno! Show us the Basement Records!
Yea maybe it's time to revisit the dark side 🥷
🏄♂ surfing on sinewaves
🏄♂️💨
I use a similar technique but I keep it more basic by just using Stargazer with Amigo on Renoise, it morphs and sounds different at each bar. If I was that invested I would probably get something like a Strymon bluesky.
The Strymon Bluesky sounds amazing and I think there is a VST version but its pretty $$$. Valhalla Shimmer, Supermassive & Air Windows Galatic are all amazing and pretty similar. I still need to check out Stargazer! :)
@@groovining For a free plugin it's the best I found, it's very fun to just play samples and chords in it and let it run.
Ah damn its only on windows :(
@@groovining That's a shame, by now we would think plugins would support both platforms. People like to use these shimmering FX for guitars but to me they sound better with 8bit Amiga Paula samples :)
Excellent work as always mate
Cheers bro! ✌️:)

be interesting to rebuild the amen using midi & alternative drum samples..?
Yea its a dope idea and has been done a few times actually. Check this www.rolldabeats.com/forum/index.php?/topic/36986-boymerang-soul-beat-runna-clip/page/2/
Bro at this point I can’t tell which you’re better at, the videos or the music! Both are JAW dropping! 😮🎉
Appreciate you bro :) Just steadily levelling up is the name of the game. Once you understand music production you can transfer those skills to lots of places like editing and animations which all work in a similar way ✌️😊
Awesome work as always man! And while the animations and all that certainly look cool, I can only imagine the work that goes in to them. So I wouldn't be feeling bad about dropping the amount of effort on that side of things if it meant more time for the music-making side of things! On the flip-side, if it's something you enjoy doing (and of course it's a bit of a USP for your channel at this point), I can see how it might be nice to break out into other creative areas other than just the music making. Keep up the great work!
Cheers Mick - yea for sure, I've just been trying to find the right balance with everything. I will always add little things here and there and keep the edits nice a clean but sometimes I get a bit carried away with it all! I've got plans for a super polished music course i've been working on for a while, also thinking about setting up a gaming focused RUclips channel to run alongside this one as it's such a big market. Even though I don't really play much anymore I have lots of ideas for cool animated video's in that world. I love the music & working on this channel but its very niche so just trying to put it all together really & build a steady career from it all. ✌️😊
@@groovining Cool! Looking forward to see what comes of the plans for the music course, I'd absolutely be interested in that! I can also imagine that as this becomes more and more of a job, the creative joy around making music could be tricky to sustain so I can absolutely see the desire to branch out into other creative areas too. Keep up the awesome work man, I can always rely on this channel to provide some awesome material!
Thanks about the channel! Great to hear you'd be interested in the course, it will probably be a few months still as it's one of those things I really want to nail. Yea for sure, I think we all struggle with creative energy from time to time especially in a process like making music & RUclips vids. Interestingly, I actually love the creative stage of the projects & doing the productions, ideas and themes etc. Just the bringing it all to life part where you sometimes get a bit stuck in the mud! I think a lot of things are like that really :)
Some good tips in there, looking forward to the new Amigo update dropping!
Coming very soon! :)
Thank you so much for making this. Super grateful for how information dense your video is. Definitely subscribing.
Appreciate the sub mate! Glad you found this one so useful :)

Great video, thanks so much for the workflow tips. Is there a way to remove duplicates from a playlist in AudioFinder? It's happening to me that I add a particular sample to the same playlist multiple times. And when I realize, I go to remove one of the duplicates and they all get removed from the list! Help! Cheers!
@@quentinjames981 ha yea that’s a bit of a annoying one in Audio Finder. I do have a workaround but it uses another app called Meta by nightbirdevolve. It’s basically a meta data app for organising music. All you have to do is drag your playlist to meta and it will automatically remove the duplicates. Then delete all the info in the playlist in audio finder and just drag it back from meta.
@@groovining Legend. I tried with my metadata editor (mp3tag) and the same method works flawlessly - tags kept intact too! Thank you!

Thanks for the great review. I started using Amigo this week I love it. Question about mapping. I'm using the Alesis VI49 keyboard controller, but I don't know how to get the samples mapped to the pads on the keyboard. I haven't seen a mapping or midi learn feature on the Amigo UI. Any suggestions?
You don't need to map as Amigo just uses the keyboard notes . i.e C1-C4. You need to find a way to transpose the pads on your keyboard controller to hit the right midi notes.
hi friend in the next video you can create a kick rumble pls
dude doesnt stop at music when it comes to being talented like damnnn
Thanks mate :) I enjoy the animations side of things a lot also.

Wow thanks man really appreciate the donation! 🙏 glad you’ve been digging the vids so much. You making tunes in Renoise?
@@groovining Im using ableton since 2019 but now im switching to renoise because im making alot of idm and renoise seems perfect for that lol

All good mate! Glad you've been enjoying the channel so much :)
your channel is honestly a god send for figuring out this DAW, I dont think I would get far without it
Happy to help mate! I love Renoise so feels good to share and get other people into the program :)
I like that "Interpolation on/off" feature. I had a Cheetah SX16 sampler back in the day and you could get more polyphony by turning off the anti-aliasing filters - it gave a similar "crispy EQ" effect and I started using it to brighten drum samples..
Oh that's dope - i've never heard of the Cheetah SX16 - seems like quite a rare sampler these days. Yea turning the interpolation off really comes through with drums. That bit of bright distortion often adds a nice bit of character, especially when you pitch them down a lot.
Lovely coast line! It’s like I’m really sitting between two very real signs listening to jungle.
Ye Wales is so beautiful! Love that place - glad you enjoyed this one Ninjilla :)
