Please elaborate on this problem of hierarchy with teamwork. Very interested in team dynamics and how the affect how we work both creatively and also in more analytical fields
@ I could easily see a father with decades of experience making his son listen to him the entire time - this episode kinda breaks that cycle and sets a standard that you can respect your father/OG while still taking lead and it’ll result in greatness
This gave me chills. Watching Robert Glasper crafting chords. The fact that he's working with his son. This whole episode made me disproportionately happy 👍🏿👍🏿
“The drums be chasing “ listen to this boy! I love to see it - you guys, the future is bright! Knowing young men like this are taking the reins lets me know that music is going to be interesting forever ❤
Yoo.. that’s such a right and exact expression.. I’ll be a father this year.. I’m a musician. My mind is divinely blown on this connection in general let alone da content being created.. glad u said it 1st King🤞🏾👑🤝🏾
Imagine being a beatmaker/producer--and you have ROBERT GLASPER on deck anytime (in Riley G's case, he's literally his pops) to collab with and compliment your drums and chops--OR you have even a fifth of Robert Glasper's mastery of keys and music theory itself and you can have quality drums and chops cooked up parallel to you (in Robert's case, by his own son)...This duo literally has the best of both worlds. In no time, they turned that catchy ostinato of erratic U2 guitar plucks into a groove with soul and gravity. The output from these two together and individually (I mean beats-wise because Robert's already a legend in modern jazz IMO) will be inspiring and influential for generations.
@@gotmoresoul that’s not what I’m saying, I mean the beats made in the episode were just lazy no heart and real character not demonstrating what these guys can really do
Robert's music changed my life. I don't mean in some save me from the darkness type stuff alot of people say about life changing. I mean Robert and his music made my ears start to REALLY listen to music, sounds, arrangements. This man is national treasure.
Man, to enjoy and appreciate music together as father and son is one thing... To dig, sample and produce together to create music is even more beautiful. Respect to both - they did a great job here and put a nice feel on their beats.
Now THIS is what we needed. This was an experience, and inspirational. Maybe that's what alot of the low effort ones be not understanding. it's something to fire us up; something to turn to when you got beat block. This is a tool for us, not something to make us feel like it's a favor. This was beautiful to witness.
He's highly talented for sure. But who is he going to produce for? Listening to the top "Hip Hop" tracks in 2024 this morning made me depressed. It's a shame really.
Lil man got mad ideas and i like how dad check him on the barz 💯, i remember those dayz , locking in the drums before the sample thats 💯, thats me all day 😂😂😂, you can play with the sample in so many different wayz when you do that.
Facts! For the first few years of producing I always tried starting with the sample first and then I just tried doing drums then after seeing so many people start that way and now 8 out of 10 times I start with drums because you can do so much more with the sample
I love watching these on my lunch break in between shifts. Please bring back the consistency with the releases of the Rhythm Roulette series Mass Appeal, thank you🙏🏾
This was a beautiful inspiring episode. Definitely makes me wanna start producing with my son. He loves creating music and he’s at that age “14” where I can finally start showing him the ins and outs of production.
This episode is wayyyyyy better than the Timbaland Episode. It gave a different dynamic. To see Rob and his son create together. That’s a producers dream. 🙏🏾
The way Rob is so egoless and there to collab with his son’s vision while still guiding and mentoring is something else…This video here is pure inspiration
I am grateful for this platform. It's a safe haven for producers who love the ART. I treat each episode as its own. Thankful and respectful to all the guests who didn't have to make time for the community. Music is an artistic expression. What's great is to see family doing what they love and bond together with it. All luv.
So dope to see the father son tandems in hip hop man. Robert Glasper always been the truth, but that young man reminds me of what I picture Dilla was like as a kid. Dope content nonetheless.
Bro this was an all timer. Wholesome moments between father and son, riffing off each other, coming up with melodies. Robert Glasper shining with the keys, as per usual. Riley sampling U2 and producing gems, momma giving the approval at the end. This was so dope man, big up the Glasper family. Could honestly watch more episodes of just these 2! More than made up for that timbaland episode 😅
Every gripe I had with the last episode, instantly gone. The RIGHT kind of record store to dig in! They managed to pull a Bob James record, but laughed it off because they knew it would be TOO EASY! They were layering, throwing new chords, getting invested, ENJOYING THEMSELVES! Merry Christmas indeed.

Only the son of Robert glasper can critique his dad like that but also vibe with him at the same time. Love this
can confirm, this makes up for the timbo miss step, these 2 are FIRE, love the family love on this ep
pin this comment! 👏
Needed a pallet cleanse after whatever timb did
You would think with all the rare tracks he flipped, he would have done a lot better than that.
😂 no doubt
Remember the old episodes from Denaun Porter, 9th Wonder, Nottz, Khrysis where they used all 3 records 😂
This season is not that great so far
Anyone else feels Dilla's presence in this ep? Amazing
Dilla popped up in my head when he first made the drums
bruuuh i was about to comment on that, but came to check if anybody else had that feel
This comment. captured my thought before I even needed to post.
Kev Brown / J Dilla
Of course - Robert Glasper was Bilal’s roommate -> Bilal was a Soulquarian -> Dilla’s production strongly influenced allll their work 😊
Robert straight up raised his son on Dilla... you can hear it in his whole approach.
