Michael Crawford's is the epitome of loneliness and pain and desperation and begging hope. All of the others just feel like actors portraying the characters. Michael embodies the real thing.
now everybody has their opinions on the plot and songs and in my OPINION just saying, this little bit of song is the most influential to the plot because to me its basically phantom showing how much he actually loves her aswell as her realising that he heard everything she said about him and how much she hurt him coldly. it also shows how desperate he became when he lost her to raoul. he wasnt her angel, her tutor, or her friend, he was the phantom
Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime Lead me, save me from my solitude Say you want me with you here, beside you Anywhere, you go let me go too, Christine, that’s all I ask of...
John Cudia, Ethan Freeman and actually Tim Martin Gleason's were my favorite. They had the best singing overall (beautiful falsetto for the beginning then a passionate build to the end) and conveyed the most emotion. I adore Ramin, but he doesn't sound as good here as he did later. Clearly the casting of Davis Gaines was a "ooh, let's try an actual opera singer for this role" phase. >_
to her aswell as becoming a repulsive monster to her after she saw his face. to me this is really him using the last thing he really has that she dosent hate. he tries to use his voice to say a final plea to her. ;-; god i hate raoul sometimes.
Don't hate Raoul, hate the fates for making the poor Phantom ugly in the first place. Raoul just got roped into this weirdness and was trying to help Christine get out of it! I always feel ultimately the biggest thing to "blame" in this story is just ... life and humanity and fate in general. The phantom was too far gone at this point for Christine to reasonably stay with him. But his life was such a tragic loss of potential due to the lack of love (from parents and on) due to his appearance. But yes, this scene is such a sad one, the Phantom is so vulnerable and just giving his own little genuine plea for her love. And then she rips off his mask, alas lol
None of this is Raoul's fault honey. Every Eristine shipper tries to blame everything on Raoul but it's not his fault that Christine loves him and not the phantom. If anything you should be thanking Raoul for doing his best to protect Christine from a crazy murderer.
my fav phantom is actually Gerard butler, but he isn't on this list so my fav phantom on this list is Ramin Karmeilo and my least favorite is easiliy Michael Crawford.
Kelly Joseph this is literally the opposite of my list, and it took alot of will power not to write an angry message, but I respect your opinion mate. Crawford is definitely an acquired taste, especially if he’s not the first phantom you listened too. I like Ramin, but I think part of his fame comes from him being on the 25th anniversary. And as for butler, someone had to like his singing in order for him to be casted.
You can have your opinion but for me Micheal Crawford will always be the phantom. His final lair is heart breaking and his voice has a haunting ghostly sound to it. I also think that Gerard Butlers voice could definitely use some work. nobody in my eyes can top the king Micheal Crawford. 👑 but again, these are my opinions.
Crawford sounds drunk, but then again he always does because he isn't actually a singer. His acting was in comedies before this and his attempt at being Erik is exactly that, comical. I'm amazed that this musical made it this far.
KatsReborn .Are Awesome if we are to be technical colm wilkinson was first phantom. The role was actually written for him but prior to phantom being done colm took the Les Mis contract which prevented him from doing this. Colm performed with brightman at the sydmonton workshop when ALW was still writing act 2

Yeah, honestly, no one does this scene better than Michael. I've yet to see/hear it
The way Michael says "go" kills me. KILLS ME.

Michael Crawford 10/10
I still find Ramin to have the best rendition on this particular scene. I love the one from the 25th anniversary the most.
This one wasnt even close. Crawford here...the tenderness in his voice..I just cant, it hurts me
I know. His version is gut wrenching and the other ones are just belting it out.
Michel Crawford is forever the best and Ramin second.
I agree!!!
I only like Ramins cause I like the scream he does in the end
Laura Cristina De La Espriella that made me giggle
I agree too
Ramin ON REPEAT
Michael Crawford!!!
Earl❤️

I can hear this part a thousand times... It is simply hearthbreaking and beautiful.
Thank you for the compilation =)
Peter Karrie, Ramin and MC :D
John Cudia, Michael Crawford and Ramin Karimloo were my favorites
It is actually scary how simillar Peter Joback sounds to MC....
Also, Ian Jon Bourg...
Some phantoms are very stellar, and some are downright cringey lol it really all comes down to how they handle the vibrato
Michael Crawford every time.
Michael Crawford and Peter Joback
Andres Barr Same!

Say you want me with you here, beside you
Anywhere, you go let me go too,
Christine, that’s all I ask of...
Ramin
They're all fucking brilliant. But Peter Karrie, John Cudia and Earl Carpenters stood out the most for me. Wish there was a JOJ one here though x
What audio/performance date is the Ian Jon Bourg one from?
John Cudia always comes top in these for me
Top 3 for me
Michael Crawford
Ethan Freeman
Earl Carpenter

Kevin Davis you do realize that you are criticizing the original Phantom right? The one that started it all..
KatsReborn .Are Awesome if we are to be technical colm wilkinson was first phantom. Kevin Davis you clearly know very little about the subject. I’ll end with this. Best actor in a musical at the 1988 Tony Awards. No need to reply.
I think youre drunk boo. Dude won the olivier, the tony and made up the blue print of the character that has been copied for decades.
Please do not disrespect the king 👑
