Bentonia Blues Medley - Jimmy “Duck” Holmes (July 10th, 2022)

Within blues music the so-called “Bentonia school” is distinctive for its particular guitar tunings and “haunting” sound. Henry Stuckey is known as the “Father of the Bentonia Blues” and his framed picture hangs on the wall at the Blue Front Cafe in Bentonia, Mississippi. The proprietor, blues musician Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, showcases the Bentonia style with a brief sampling of the songs: “Cypress Grove”, “Hard Time Killin’ Floor Blues”, “It Had to Be the Devil”, and “Catfish Blues”.
