- As I hear from my Lumpectomy and breast reduction and lift surgeries, I get news that I wasn't expecting. My battle to cancer-free life is going to be longer than originally expected. Here are some terms with definitions that I mention in this video:
Multifocal Breast Cancer: Multifocal breast cancer occurs when there are two or more tumors in the same breast. All of the tumors begin in one original tumor. The tumors are also all in the same quadrant - or section - of the breast.
Oncotype Score: The test gives a score, known as a Recurrence Score, from 0 to 100. The higher the score, the more likely breast cancer is to come back and the more likely you are to benefit from having chemotherapy as well as hormone therapy.

I do feel your pain, I was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer the lower back portion towards my armpit was where the cancer was, at the time of discovery it hadn't spread to the lymph nodes. January 12, 2023 had a bilateral mastectomy my surgeon removed lymph nodes and all on March 17, 2023 today April 12, I met with the oncologist I had about twenty questions ready to throw at him but after the initial introduction I asked about chemotherapy or radiation I was prepared for whatever but.... He happily informed me that I would not be needing either of those I was given a clean bill of health.

Last year a .9 millimeter invasive ductile carcinoma was found through my annual mammogram. Pretty small. I had a lumpectomy with clear margins and no lymph node involvement. I did elect to get my tumor tested, which was fortunate as I had a high onco score, (34). This surprised my oncologist. All other indicators had not been highly aggressive. So you never know. My philosophy was get any information you can, as soon as you can. I did 4 rounds of chemo and 31 radiation treatments as prescribed. Chemo was hard, but preventative chemo is not usually as strong the type given for metastatic cancers. Life was 100% treatment centric for 5-6 months, but I fortunately had a partner that took good care of me, (even though I was a pain in the arse patient). I’m back to normal now, a year later. On letrozole for at least 5 years, which other than body aches, isn’t too bad. I don’t think you ever put reoccurrence fears totally behind you but maybe that makes survivors that much more appreciative of today.

I have been fortunate and was sent to a doctor almost 7 months ago because they thought changes had occurred in my breast tissue. They recommended a stereotypical biopsy . I went to this doctor who specializes in high-risk people, and she is wonderful. I had no cancer 7 months ago, but MRI last month showed another spot in the same area that was not seen on the mammogram, another biopsy, and this time, I do have cancer. This doctor takes notes and makes copies and hands them to you. I go for my lumpectomy next week. I am praying nothing will be found in my lymphnodes as I already know my cancer is hormone receptive in 2 different ways. I will add you to my prayer list. I totally understand the emotions. They can definitely throw a lot of information out there at you, especially when you talk with the Onocologist. My lost mother 1.5 ago to mestatic breast cancer, and her oncologist always gave huge amounts of information. I had to take notes so I wouldn't forget so I could tell my brothers. It can be overwhelming even when it is not you going through it. My thoughts, prayers, and God's healing powers are with you. You have a blessed day today and many more to follow

Thank you for sharing your journey. I'm tracing your steps on my own journey with invasive ductal carcinoma. My surgery date is June 7. I am opening my heart and soul for what's ahead, even though in my mind of minds, I cannot grasp what that entails.
Your recorded experiences project a map of paths for us who are in the fight for our lives. I am thankful and grateful for the light you're shining on the paths ahead as you travel the road to recovery.

I just had a lumpectomy myself and will be on hormonal therapy. I wll pray for you and am so sorry that you have to have additional surgery. Keep the faith. And eat a lot of anti cancer foods to help too--berries, broccoli, fruits and vegs, etc. I pray for a low score. I am glad that you have support. Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Thank you for sharing and prayers of healing and cancer free reports your way. I had a lumptectamy on 5/23 with clear margins and clear lympnodes. I'm waiting for the Oncotype results to see if I will move forward with 2 weeks of radiation and possibly no Chemo. I'm 62 and a 9ml nodule was removed from my right breast. I'm still sore at the incisions, by my side under my armpit and the rear of my shoulder blade. I do not have drains but some swelling. I'm taking Neproxen, Tylenol or Advil as needed. Mostly at night. I have a couple of tramodols (steroid) left but won't take those unless really needed. Be blessed ❤

I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in October an I am scheduled to have a Lumpectomy on my left side on the 6th of December. I am in a small East Texas city an I thought I heard in one of you videos that I watched that you were in Texas also. wow! i had a lump removed too. they told me 2 of 3 sentinel lymph nodes were positive for cancer. i cant do chemo. im a big baby and have no one to care for me so i wont be doing it. im scared more of pain n suffering than anything else. hope you get better. you sound more brave than me. i suffer w/severe panic attacks.
You're not a baby. You're wise to refuse chemo. A lot of people do. It's poison. Hope you get help for the panic attacks. Stay away from caffeine & chocolate. It can make you jittery and trigger an attack. Try some deep breathing exercises. Drink lots of water. It's good for anxiety. Get well soon. Sending a hug.
@@tommy7fun thank you for the kind words. i did accept radiation. im on my 2nd visit. the dr there told me it kills cancer cells in that area. do you know anything about that?
@@christineanderson487 the radiation kills all cells good and bad and the good ones regenerate but any cancer cells that are microscopic die and don’t regrow! That’s what my oncologist explained to me.
Personally I’m more afraid of dying than of chemo and I do what the oncologsts recommend me to do. Yes chemo is hard, but it’s manageable.

Are you taking preventive medications such as tamoxifen? If so what is your experience with the medication? I’m was diagnosed with LCIS insitu but the doctor saw a site which was missed on the mammogram and stereotactic biopsy. I am scheduled for a lumpectomy in July. I pray all things return in favor for us all and that God covers us.
I am just now starting my medication journey. In a few weeks I will be on hormone therapy. Praying for your swift recovery!
I already had the biopsy and now I'm going to be seeing the specialist to see what my options going to be in regards to the lumpectomy but how did you go about the you know the breast reduction you could have that done while you're there and what is a benefit of having it
My plastic surgeon and breast surgeon both informed me that I could have the reduction on my left breast so that they would match up. Definitely was a surprising development that I took full advantage of!

I just found out I had breast cancer 4 hours ago. I'm so terrified and I think they said it was called mammary carcinoma. Is that the same as ductal carcinoma?
Your doctor can best let you know. My understanding is ductal carcinoma is a type of mammary carcinoma. This is just my opinion and not medical advice.
I understand how scary this time can be but be sure to keep up with your doctors and treatment plans and lean on your support system. You will beat this! 💪🏾🎀
