Good information this was my experience. My lumpectomy was a walk in the park compared to my 4 part shoulder fracture. I only took 8 paracetamol as it wasn’t too painful. I started my prescribed arm exercises the next day, I sat up to sleep for 4 weeks, I wore a crop top in bed and soft non wired bra during the day wore compression stockings for 3 weeks to prevent DVT. I covered the scar from the third day with Vaseline petroleum jelly and covered with gauze. The third week I change to silicone gel twice a day. I also drank lots of water and ate more protein, took vitamin D3,K2 C and Zinc daily. I tried driving week 3 but steering pulled on my breast it’s now week 5 and no problem driving. Still not ironing, hoovering gardening or lifting anything heavy. Started walking week 3 as prior to that the movement jiggled my breast and swinging my arm also made my breast tingle and was painful. I had spitting stitches around the cut around my nipple, I bathed it in salt and warm water rinsed, dried it and then put on the silicone gel thinly. It’s week 5 for me now. I still get tired, but managing to do more each day if I do too much my breast is painful so the following day I have to be careful. I had sentinel, lymph nodes removed too so I made sure I massaged my arm to try and prevent cording it seems to have worked. I have what looks like a bruise on my breast but the consultant said it was the dye which they inject to find the sentinel nodes, apparently it should go in time. Awaiting Radiation now, new things to learn, the arm exercises at the beginning are to help you be able to raise your arm above your head, which is what you have to do for each radiation session. Good luck ❤

Thank you for posting. I'm about 3 weeks out and glad what I'm feeling is normal. I've had major abdominal surgeries and also not as bad but harder in it's easier for me to over do it and pay for it in soreness/pain. Hope you are feeling better in your recovery ❤

I had my lumpectomy in November and it went pretty smooth. While I was healing I had sharp piercing pain that would come and go every now and then and the hard tissue underneath the skin. But the worst for me even after it healed is the itching, it gets bad.

My doctor wouldn’t give me anything but ibuprofen. And I had to ask for it. Another fact is that it takes more than a few days after surgery. I now have a seroma but I don’t know yet if my surgeon will aspirate. My surgery was in early October 2023, I’m still healing. My doctor prescribed gabapentin. But it makes me lethargic and nauseous if I try to take a hike. The hardest part was the radiation. Absolutely awful.
