- The next phase of my treatment journey was radiation. It was definitely a different experience than chemo! I don’t have a long list of recommendations for this portion, as everyone should meet with their oncologist for their specifics to aid them during this time. But I feel like the items I highlight are more universal and could possibly be used by anyone going through this journey.

Hello! Glad I found you. I was diagnosed 5/25/23 with invasive ductal carcinoma Stage 1a. Lumpectomy with tissue reconstruction 7/21/23. Had 1 positive lymph node out of 4. Had to go back for the re-excision because I didn’t have clean margins. Had that yesterday 8/11/23. Now waiting on that pathology. My oncotype score was 17 so I don’t need chemo. If this pathology is clean, then I’ll be starting radiation after 9/11/23. I’ve never heard the green tea part before but I will be asking.

@littlefish I was diagnosed 8/9 /23 samething like yours invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1. How was your surgery. What kind of reconstruction did you had? Did the plastic surgeon take tissue from another part of your body? I probably will get lumpectomy but no reconstruction. Do you recommend reconstruction after lumpectomy? Idk what to do idk will the Dr take a lot of my tissue off or not. I will need surgery and radiation? How long do you have to wait to do radiation after your surgery?
@@12382576 well im no doctor so I can’t really tell you what to do. I chose the lumpectomy with reconstruction and radiation because statistically it has pretty much the same outcome as a single mastectomy. My tumor was 1.8 cm and located near the center of my chest. Im small breasted to begin with and they were planning to take out about a kiwi size amount of tissue. So without reconstruction I would have been significantly lopsided. They took tissue with a blood supply from my ribs under the breast and tucked it in from below effectively collapsing the hole on itself. I just met with the radiation oncologist the other day. I need about 2 more weeks of healing and then they’ll bring me in for my first appointment with the scans and measurements. My first actual radiation treatment will be about 2 weeks after that first appointment. So I’m probably a month out from receiving my first zap of radiation.

IDC, DCIS, 2 lumpectomies, Feb & March 2023. Radiation April-May. I suggest ordering dressings and tape from Amazon in advance because I had blisters and drainage. Supplies are limited in my area. And I was told because I am bid busted there is more surface area smaller women don’t have as much trouble. In addition, I waited too long before I asked for something for pain, thinking tomorrow will be better. I do not regret having radiation, but I wish my facility would of prepared me for these things. We are fighting against this disease, be of good courage…..Sue. Oh yes she is right the fatigue is real.
Hello 👋 thnxs for sharing an glad I found you. I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma early stage 1back in October an will be having a Lumpectomy on 12-6-23 followed by radiation. How long after surgery do you have to wait to start radiation? This is all so new to my so all the Information I get is very helpful to me. I ran across your page when I was searching for ladies that have or is going thru the same thing as I am. I am in Texas an I saw in the background on 1 of your car videos a sign that said Ft. Wort an Shreveport so I see you are in Texas as well. My radiation started after I completed my chemo treatment. About 6 weeks after I completed chemo.

Hello, and congratulations on your completion of treatment! I completed radiation treatment on 6/13/2023. I to feel as though my bones in the area are very stiff. Do you have any recommendations for the itchy feeling deep under the skin? I'm not sure if you experience this, but I am and it feels very creepy.
The achy bones feeling is definitely something I've experienced! Not so much the itchy skin but I can tell you that I've been applying vitamin e oil mixed with Jamaican castor oil over the area and it's been good for returning my skin to regular levels. Maybe give that a try. Castor oil is highly beneficial for the body.

Hi congratulations on completing your chemo and radiation treatments. Did you use anything else along with the green tea during your radiation treatment? I will start my radiation treatment on 7/3 and I have bought some Vitamin E oil and some coconut oil but I definitely need to get the sunscreen. Thank you for sharing ❤
@@pamelaallen1038 My radiation oncologist prescribed a medicated cream that I applied at least twice a day. I would apply after treatment and at bedtime.
did you use. vitamin e oil during treatment or just after it was all done?
I used it after treatment. You have to be very careful with what is used during treatment. Your doctor can give you the best advice!
yes just saw a whole video by a doc saying to stay away from oils during radiation stick w/ gels and creams (think aloe and aquafor) use oils AFTER...ladies they said coconut oil was only good after and as a blend as it can actually be drying to the skin..just one Doctors opinion. Do talk to your doc/derm of course. My doc recommended Calendula based products like BURN Calendula by Boiron.
Do you use organic green tea or decaffeinated?
Organic is fine!

@tgreen8946 it was caffeinated but I don't think it mattered, since I was just applying it to the skin.
