You are so incredible. I love all of your videos. This explained every single question I had about cutting off the hump. It baffles me that you don't have more views than you do. Your filming and editing is perfect.
I would love to see more videos from you =]
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Who would have thought of the simplicity of this technique.......amazing information. Thank you Hsin-Chuen.
Thank you so much for your demonstrations. I watch them over and over.
I agree with all the comments below- perfect technique, perfect explanations and beautiful work always! Thank you so much.
Thanks for this video, excellent explanation of how the string cutting works :)
And a beautiful pot too!
beautiful work, thank you!
your a very skilled potter, thank you for the video!
Hi, please watch my video #128 ~ #131. I demonstrated how I used these handmade tools.
Hsinchuen Lin #128
Thanks for your videos Lin. I guess my throwing is way too occidental. I weight every piece i'll throw and I throw on bats. I'll give this a try, def looks less complicated.
i love your videos. you are amazing.
how many pounds of clay would you use to throw a noodle bowl?
Is that a piece of leather that you are using to compress the lip or just a piece of cloth?
Thank you for this demo. Now my iPad has clay on it but I can finally cut off the hump evenly!
I would love to learn how to do what you do.
How do you do so much work off the hump and get forms of nearly exact same size? Is it just a matter of practice? How do I work up to that? I have been measuring a lot and using a stick as a gauge and so on to get consistent forms but the sticks get in the way and wont work on the hump and measuring all the time slows things down massively.
What kind of trimming tool is that, that also makes that pattern when your trimming it? And when can I buy one?
Dear Mr Lin,
Thank you for the excellent demonstration. How many days do you let the bowl dry between throwing and trimming? Do you cover it in plastic while it dries?
Thank you
It's not about days it's about dryness of the clay. A bowl can be dry enough to trim in a matter of hours. Hsinchuen Lin has said in a different video a bowl is ready to trim when its dry to the touch on the outside but you can still press a nail indent into it (in a place you are going to trim away obviously) . Plastic is just a tool to lengthen the drying time so it's ready to trim when you are and I'm sure he just uses it as needed :)
Question please, why do you have to make the noodle bowl on a hump. Why not directly on the wheel?
This method is for production potters who do bother wedge many pieces of clay to save time.
What type of string do you use?
Excellent info thank you very much.
Aww why'd you cut it in half at the end?
@31361claire Cotton string.
Perfect :)
Anna Cheek, I would say one kilo.
okidoke, thanks!
