I cannot tell you how much inspiration I have received from all the videos that have been viewed from Utube under your name the motivation is unbelievable I truly thank you
Hi, I love the videos of you working clay in your own style, your skill is impressive. Previously, Evelyne said : "It's really magnificent and the way you use your hand to raise the neck of the bottle, Fantastic!" Then she asked : " How much clay do you use for a piece of that size?" "Thanks in advance, Évelyne"... Google translation is best used for comedic effect in my opinion :) Thank you for posting such beautiful videos of your craft and your finished pieces are amazing.
@potterylady1 I am glade you noticed that. It's a technique I learned in Taiwan 28 years ago. It's is much stable because there are more finger points holding the neck.
@zhpottery I don't have budget for a new wheel and I don't have preference for any wheel either. Since I have this Brent wheel, I don't have any trouble with it.
@Angelva67 I used Google translate and here is what you said: it's really beautiful and the way you use your hand to fit the neck of the bottle, how do you use fantastic amount of clay for a room this size?? thank you in advance, Evelyne I don't quite understand your question. Maybe the translation software didn't do a good job. Please watch my two other videos that have similar throwing techniques. 30. Throwing / Making a Thin-necked Bottle and 15. Throwing a Tall-Necked Bottle
@tonyh487 Normally, I don't pick up my big pots from wheel after throwing. I will put a bat on if I intend to pick the big pots off the wheel. Getting the big pot off the wheel can be done too if you wish to do so. Here is the trick: 1. Use the metal rib to get the slip off the surface. 2. Trim the corner foot off the pot so that you have less clay stick to the bottom. 3. Completely dry your hand and try to grab the bottom portion where it is thicker and stronger. If not, I will do a demo.
fabulous! thank you. How do you trim the bottom of a pot with such a narrow neck and lip, or is this thrown so that the bottom doesn't have to be trimmed?
@hsinchuen i understand, haha wheels arent something thats really neccessary to replace frequently. i know most potters keep their wheel for years, i loved reading that you have had this wheel for 30yrs, talk about getting your moneys worth! haha but i will say that if you do happen to need or have to buy a new one, shimpo vl whisper, i need to make a video testimonial because i would not love throwing as much as i do if it weren't for that wheel, i might do one tomorrow cheers hsin, zhpottery
it is just incredible that he can throw without a splash pan. I understand the pros of doing it that way, but if I tried that I would be soaked and covered in clay haha

Watching you work is like meditation - its taught me to slow down and take my time when I'm throwing, my work is better for it

This guys skill is absolutely insane.
Invest in his work and it will be worth a small fortune in time to come.
I'd like to see how you get those big pieces off the wheel at the end, especially the big round jars. Thanks, and keep the videos coming.

@js74858 I will make a video showing how I positioning my fingers while pulling up sometime before my ceramics class start. Stay tune.
Are you coming to NC next week? Master potters are coming to Greensboro, I think for a show.

@potterylady1 It's Coleman porcelain and local clay store's Glacia porcelain about 50% to 50%.
what is that claw movement you do to the top of the pot at the end?? The claw lol? I do like that. I will have to try it!
@hsinchuen have you thought about getting a new wheel? possibly a shimpo vl whisper? or are you a brent purist?
