      Yes, I don't think there are many 4x4s out there that are this easy to work on

    Good video. But for the love god, never hit the threads on a ball joint! Best way to remove it use two large hammers and whack the eye (female part) on opposite sides at the same time. Give it a good whack and it release right away. This method will not damage your ball joint boot during removal as other tools might. Cheers!

    When removing the steering joins leave the nut on the last few threads so that you don't accidentally hit them with the hammer and destroy them. But all in all great video and educational as well

      Glad I read the comments, so I didn't repeat this tip. It does protect the threads, but also keeps it from mushrooming.

    Thanks for the video mate 🤟🏼wondering do you need to re-pack the swivel with grease?

  • @reddemon1923

    I recently picked up Land Cruiser KZJ70 and need to do the swivel seal on it...not looking forward to it haha. Quick observation though. From what I understand, the reason why the swivel seal starts to leak is because the axle seal has failed. Which allows diff fluid to mix with axle grease which thins the grease enough for it to leak through the swivel seal.

    • @TheUntraveledPath
      @TheUntraveledPath  Год назад

      This shouldn't be the case. If the swivel seals are good you can even fill the swivels with oil and they won't leak. So, if they leak grease mixed with oild they are done. Also, if grease with oil can leak out water can get in. Great purchase btw, the 70 is great

    I've used this trick as well. This way saves a lot of time if you know your swivels/bearings are in good shape. Nicely done!
    What size wheel spacers are you using?

      Depending on what caused your 3.9 to fail it might be worth it to rebuild. D1 prices are going up. Try to keep that original engine. Send her out for sleeves & resurfacing. The 3.9’s also tend to be sought after because they are less prone to head gasket failure.

    You never disconnect a steering joint like that, use a seperator. Plus clean the hub before putting the whiperseal over it, now its dirty allready. I am not impressed.
