shock length doesn't change suspension travel, putting a longer control arm on will give you more travel, longer shocks will just give you more clearance but any up travel you gain will be down travel lost making it the same.

hello, i can see that you have a AT tires, what your size of tires and wath consum of diesel? on my, usualy i use MT 285 75 16 for my trips off road and i change to road tires when drive on road, but i thinked that maybe i will change the road tires for AT for a size a little bit less of my MT... thank you

Great video! 🫡 I’m on my 4th set of Cooper STT Pro muds on my 2014 Tacoma (35”). My truck is my daily driver and I off road/overland/camp/hunt once or twice a month. These tires have been getting pretty good mileage before swapping, but they really excel in the sand and snow over other mud terrains. They seem to be about the same as most other mud terrains in mud and on rocks. The only thing I’m doing differently with my next set is going to 37” instead of 35”. 👍

The thing with dislocating springs is that it allows the loaded wheels to travel further up and with less force. It does this via the seesaw geometry of beam axles. People who criticise saying there is no downforce on the dropped wheel is not understanding the mechanics at play.

Had my J90 for 19 years (1979 car) crossed the Sahara and done several off road rallys. Things that have been replaced. Drivers seat, all shocks, one spring, cylnder head, radiator, windscreen and rear window, clutch, belts. Trackrod ends, rear door seal, both front axcdls. Rear acxel welded. BEST CAR I EVER OWNED. Driven daily passes it anual test every year and starts first time.

Also how a noob like my can find a trails in Cyprus? 😅😅😅 i try the wikloc but most of the trails there you can’t be sure about the terrain, and as you say if you go alone is a risk

Great video Theo! Specially the saving money part. Now with social media it seems like if you don’t have 35s on a twin locked vehicle with crazy expensive overland gear you can’t go off roading. I’ve been off roading since I was born with my Dad (nowadays I go with him on the right seat in my 300tdi D1) always with a ground tent and basic stuff, and man we have so much fun! The most important thing you need to check/ replace is the braking system. You wouldn't want to start rolling down the hill only to find out your 40 year old truck blew a 40 year old brake line and now you got no more brakes.

I’m a big fan of 4Runners but prefer the LC interior design. My 4Runner has gotten me through some treacherous conditions so I’ll probably always have a 4Runner. Maybe I’ll get a used Trailhunter in about 10 years. Thanks for the video!

In previous gen there were enough differences. The lc (150) had swing cargo door, roof ac vents for second and third row, and large fuel tank. 4R had looks, lower price, and a bit lighter weight.

great vid, yeh its a good overlander. but the new lc has few issues, its expensive and will probably need lift kits 1-2 inch to be very capable offroad

Good info. I’m gonna disagree with one of your points and the same point many reviewers make. You can never have enough choice. Overlapping capability is a great choice for consumers. I’d be happy if Toyota had 3 more off road vehicles. Black 58 for me, hopefully any day now.

Bad injectors can also crack heads. Good idea to check when those were last replaced and consider replacing them when you buy the vehicle.

Main concern for me is the reliability of the powertrain once the vehicle is modded w/ bigger, multi-ply tires, which are almost essential for terrain anywhere near me. I've heard that extra unsprung weight puts a ton of strain on the turbos in the taco with the same powertrain.
