      Always appreciate the support!! I was hoping that section would be helpful about the midfield issues... I didn't want to just show the finished tactic, but show why I did the changes so maybe it can help others see what to look for. My buildups were stunted and it's always easy to just blame the players but it was 100% my fault for not getting the roles right. Plus it's funny how a simple switch in a player's duty can change so much

    A roaming playmaker thrives on space to operate. Using a lone roaming playmaker in defensive midfield is challenging as they often become entangled with other players. To fully utilize this role, it's advisable to avoid using a lone roaming playmaker for inexperienced players. For simplicity, a roaming playmaker and ball-winning midfielder partnership in defensive midfield, without additional players in that area, works well. Alternatively, a roaming playmaker in central midfield can be easier to integrate than a lone defensive midfielder. The ideal roaming playmaker is a versatile player with a well-rounded skill set. To easily identify one, look for an octagon profile. High stamina combined with balanced technical ability and vision are characteristics of a good roaming playmaker.
    Good Video mate.

      Fantastic additions/counterpoints to how I used the role (and a good example on how there's not just one way to use a player role). Thank you for the write up and contrasting view!
      If you'll allow me a rebuttal on why I chose him for the DM position haha. It was purely personal preference, but when placed in the central midfield on one side (say the LCM area), I didn't like how he became too dominant on that side and would be less focused on the right sides of the field.
      Placing him in the DM slot gave him equal chances to influence both sides of the field, and I liked his movement from that area as well. Almost like he was a mixture of a box to box midfielder and a regista from the DM position.

      You are now the talk of the football manager community, and lots of new players are looking for your channel. You must have noticed that you are getting noticed by the community recently. I think the majority of them are new players, and they need to understand these roles simply. You will also agree that RPM on DM is far more complex than on CM. For beginners, simple roles like GK, FB, WB, CB, DM, BWM, BBM, CM, AM, AP, W, IF, CF, and AF are must-understand roles in their normal duties. They must learn to stabilize the team with these roles before trying to stabilize tactics with fancy roles, for example, the midfield with IWB and wide space with Carillero or attacking mid with F9, or playing no striker tactics with SS.
      And I can’t see the DLP video? That’s my best position and role. Make one, mate.

    Last week I pointed out your amazing cap. This week I noticed when listening to you. I really like how you do these pauses when you speak. You don't rush to give the information. This makes me curious if you write out and are reading the information. Whatever it is however really like the presentation style.

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад +5

      much appreciated! Usually it's a combination. I have a script written out, but I give myself the option to go "off the cuff", so to speak. So like the section in this where I'm talking about the tactical issues was more freeform, since I wanted to keep it natural. But other stuff (like breaking down a highlight) is more exact because it has to follow a highlight that I can't change.
      And I find the pauses and general speaking flow is much more in line with my personality, so it's easier for me to edit like that (if that makes sense).
      That may be more information than you wanted but there you go hahaha

    On my Villarreal save, I used to play Maximo Perrone as a DLP on the Defensive Midfield on my Gegenpress 4-3-3, much like a successor to what Dani Parejo did, an old fashioned metronome that will keep hold of his position and the posession.
    After 3 seasons of qualifying to the UCL but not challenging for the title (even though on the second season there I finished 2nd), I decided to build something from scratch in order to get all the bits and pieces working at the same time.
    I checked again on his Traits and that "Tries Killer Balls often" sounded like poetry to my ears. So I moved him up a bit on the field on my 5-2-3 Wide formation, in which I have given almost zero team instructions but personalised ones, according to how I want each role to play on the pitch. Perrone is now playing as an RPM, with Andy Diouf next to him.
    He is so damn good in chances creation and the assists he pulls out of the hat remind me of the golden generation of Spanish midfielders. I'm in early October in the season and he already has 5 assists, despite coming sometimes from the bench (I also play Martin Baturina in that role).
    Now the biggest challenge is to find the balance on transition to the defence, as sometimes I am caught off guard in the counter. Secondly, I would like to fit them both in the formation, preferably having Baturina as a Mezzala, in order to get more goals from his finishing/long shots.

      One of my favorite parts about making these videos is reading about how you guys use these roles in other ways. I naturally have my ways I like to use roles, so love seeing how you use the RPM. Plus that player trait is so good. What do you use for the centerback roles? I liked using the libero in this tactic because he pushes up in attack to cover that midfield area (since my RPM so far up)
      And I am the same way; I don't use a lot of team instructions, but in my proper saves I love giving the players more specific instructions to highlight what they're good at

    • @NickArvan
      @NickArvan 2 месяца назад

      I play Jorge Cuenca as a Libero (last season I trained him at defensive midfield, mainly as Anchor or Half Back). Technically and in terms of vision, he is good enough but he has 9 dribbling.
      I also think of training Mario Vuskovic (summer signing, now playing on the right as BPD) on that role as he is perfectly well rounded (better long shots too and his attributes are all between 12-15) while on the left there's Abakar Sylla (which I signed for free) as WCB

    Another great video! On the subject of the differences of playmakers- role and duty will not change the player you have, only what they're looking to do. Just because a player's attributes fit a playmaking role, doesn't mean they have to be a playmaker.
    One of my favorite hybrid roles is actually BWM(S). A player who dives into tackles and has the aggression and work rate to play BWM, but with technical ability (eg 16 pas and vis), can function as a hyperaggressive playmaker. The Anchor playmaker is also fun as a 6, they will be super responsible with the ball but will occasionally break the lines with an incredible pass. Part of the fun of FM (and real life) is finding ways to make the most out of your player within the rigid roles that FM provides.

    Im searching for a "lazy playmaker" role but that stil is the heart of the plays like the roaming playmaker, like valderrama, carlovich and riquelme.
    I guess they are enganche? So the whole team move around them, but i want to play in a midfield at 3 and kinda modernize their role, so giving them more defensive responsabilty.
    The roaming playmaker need too many phisical attribute like pace and stamina, when in reality valderrama and co were very "lazy" even tho that role seems right for all the rest, they walk up/down based on were the action is, idk if any other role in midfield can recreate what im asking.

He plays behind an AM so I don't really want him crashing the box, and RPM is the only playmaker role with shoot more PI. However, he only has 13 work rate so I play him next to a CM(D) so he doesn't have to start from the DM strata in a 4231. I wish RPM could be told to stay put defensively so he can have a free role offensively without gassing himself

      I've got it on the list! Probably won't be in the next chunk of videos but it's definitely on the to-do. And thank you for the suggestion!

      It's the Rensie Dark FM24 Skin. It's on the FMScout website. I love it! So clean and easy to read everything

    4:24 Have you tried a BWM-Su?

      I don't think I tried that one. I figured he would be hunting the ball as well, but I do wonder if he could work with some adjustments to my system. Basically have a bunch of players causing mayhem in the midfield haha

    Thoughts on a 4-3-3 with rice as a dm(s), kimmich as an rpm, and odegaard as a mezz(a/s)?

    • @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker
      @TheDeepLyingPlaymaker  2 месяца назад

      Looks like a great trio! I may start off with Rice on DM(d) and then see how the match goes. If you feel you're starting to dominate/take control, switch him to support to add a little more to your attack

      haha not a Toronto native, but I do like the Blue Jays though. I'm a fan of collecting baseball hats though, so you'll probably see some different ones through all the videos lol
