  • In this video Rick Shiels reviews the brand new Titleist GT drivers. Rick reviews the Titleist GT2 driver, Titleist GT3 driver and Titleist GT4 driver.
Titleist say ''with a powerful new engine inside there is something almost unbelievable about how Titleist GT drivers optimize the distance dynamics of every drive. Speed is gained but also controlled, meaning you get the best possible distance and outcome from every swing.'

Interesting you took down the full fitting video where your personal experience was “not being able to hit the ball” “Not able to find the club face properly” “Not having a good ball flight” “i dont feel like i have hit a solid ball” between all the adjustments while using the three heads of the GT series drivers. To in this video talking about how forgiving they are, your ball flight is great, they feel great. The entire personalized fitting video came across super negative. Obviously a fan here and personally have a Titleist driver. Maybe you had more time with the club in your hands and who knows what time passed between uploads. But there is a whiplash like effect between the two experiences in the videos along with opposite messages.

Can’t take this serious after watching the fitting. So many contradictions to what was said in that video. Pretty much slated the thing the whole time. You said in that video that you couldn’t feel where you hit it on the face, when it was middled, it didn’t feel good. Trying to fit for an un natural fade when your go to natural shot is a draw. Basically didn’t like it. And now in this vid you’re singing its praises and the fitting video has magically disappeared after the slating it got for your attitude. I wonder why? Hmmmmm. I’d say that your integrity is now defo in question personally 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think Rick realised that the Woburn fitting video was an absolute disaster in terms of his poor attitude with the fitter, the sense of entitlement that he had during the fitting, the disrespect to the new clubs, and the overwhelming negative comments from the audience. That video had over 1000 comments with about 99% in the negative majority. It was up for less than 24 hrs before it was taken down by Rick.
By letting this video stand alone, WITHOUT the Woburn video is a massive u-turn by Shiels to repair the contradictory damage by this one having a more positive spin on the new Titleist products. There are clips of the fitting video in there, but no audio or specific moments like when he says "if that feels like hitting it out of the middle, then middle don't feel great." There's no fronting up to his poor attitude that was there for all to see on the fitting video.
After watching both videos, I'm ashamed to call myself a Rich Shiels fan and subscriber - I feel the real Rick Shiels was the idiot on camera at Woburn, and the one on this video is the more calculated vanilla RUclipsr who doesn't want to upset his image, audience or sponsors or brands that he gets stuff for free to try - you can see it in his eyes. Its kind of shattered my view and opinion of Rick Shiels... Rick - I've been with you for a long time - since the pre-beard days, I've never unsubscribed from a single RUclipsr before in my lifetime - but it's time to say goodbye. The trust has gone man.

What are you talking about? Rick put this video up BEFORE he put up the custom fitting video. So no, this isn’t a “damage limitation” video at all. What Rick should have done is never upload the Woburn vid.

    • @harrisonreed6296
      @harrisonreed6296 3 месяца назад +3

@@surindersingh724 You're very correct Surinder, this video does pre-date the Woburn one. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in saying this. I have amended my original comment to reflect this. What I'm saying is that in the timeline of events now, the only video that exists now is this one - those who haven't seen the entire Woburn video before it got taken down will not know what the hell we're talking about! lol!
To those who have seen the custom fit video it still doesn't get away from the fact that BOTH videos contradict each other. In the one above, he loves the product. In the Woburn one, it's pretty clear he hates the product, and acts like a bit of a spoilt brat with the fitter. It doesn't matter which order the viewer would have seen these two videos, the clear difference in the opinion is the damage.
You're right in saying that Rick should have never uploaded the Woburn video, which was clearly the damaging video - and thus by removing THAT video and letting only this video stand, and removing the contradiction in opinions is actually 'damage limitation' in my eyes - to his brand and to Titleist. Again, those who haven't seen the the Woburn vid, they will just think he just loves the new GTR drivers.

Fitting is key. I got 17 more yards through optimising my GT2 during the fitting over my TSR2. Different loft, different setting on the Surefit (that I'd never have picked), different weight on the back and different shaft. Feels better than the TSR2, more consistent flight window and spin. Even using the same shaft from my TSR2, the GT2 was longer and more consistent. But the optimisation was the key to get the most out of it for me.

I got fitted in the GT3 and I liked it a lot. I didn't even try the GT4...I don't have that swing speed anymore. The Gt3 flew about 15 yards farther than my current driver and I liked it better than the GT2. The only thing I wish is they would have played with the movable weight...it wasn't touched. I want to hit it again and see how the weight affects ball flight. I have a fitting in 2 days with Callaway (weather permitting). It will be interesting to compare the 2 clubs.

I'm enjoying my TSR2 for the past 2 seasons. I feel that I'm getting much more consistent with center strikes than when i was fitted. But no plans of upgrading any time soon. My next driver will probably be the 3rd itteration of the GT3.

My understanding is the GT3 weight isnt much about shot shaping as it is about impact location. Yes there is a little shaping aspect too it, but from the TSR line you are supposed to use the weight to position it behind where you typically strike the ball on the face rather than use it to correct a slice or a fade. Its also something id imagine once you get it locked in, you dont need to move it much

At 105-110 SS, my TSr3 was basically identical in performance to GT3 on good strikes.

Last week I try GT2 and GT3 with same shafts, somehow swung both faster and gained 10-15 yards and narrow dispersion. Just got put into a GT3 coming off of a TSR3 that was given to me and by no means was fit to my swing so there were obviously improvements simply from the shaft for example. For context I swing at about 117mph with ball speeds in the 173-175 range. What stuck out to me was I was put into a heavier shaft, lost 2mph in swing speed, but still managed to generate the same ball speed…needless to say my credit card has never swiped that fast lol.

With the limits put on drivers by the USGA, I feel as if they’ve reached the technological limit, especially when it comes to distance so what many companies are doing is working on forgiveness. Would you rather find 10-12 fairways a round while hitting it 274 yards or hit it 280 while hitting 6-7 fairways? I’d go with the first option all day long which is why I went with a GT2.

With such major construction changes the feel of the ball coming off the face will feel different - maybe "I don't like the feel" could better be interpreted as "its not the feel that Im used to". Just go with the flow and look at the outcome of the swing - if not satisfied after that then see a swing coach as there may be issues (which is my inclination).

It's definitely a nice line of drivers when it comes to look, feel, and sound. As you briefly mentioned where usually there can be a driver in a series where one of the drivers is less appealing look wise that's not the case with this GT line. The improved aerodynamics seem to be consistently leading to high clubhead speeds when compared to previous generations. For anyone that has been shown and held the crown piece they can tell you it's amazingly light, and surprisingly thin looking. Likewise anyone who has witnessed in person the drop test of the face material for something that isn't a titanium or steel material it sure sounds like it, and unless you're told about it beforehand you could easily believe it's one of those metals.
Will it perform better than another driver for a person? That depends what you compare it to, and if you were properly fit into that driver as well as this one. Well fit drivers are hard to beat if they bring you close to optimal for how you swing. They are definitely worth a try if you feel like your current driver is under performing and you're looking to bring confidence a fun back if you've lost those when it comes to hitting the driver.
