Jonathan Brown that's very naive to say, I disagree look at all the people who put their selves second and dreams on the back burner for their partner. Look where it got them. In my opinion, being a ride or die woman means that you will stay with your man even if he's broke because you know how hard he works to reach his goals, you know that he has ambition and you believe in him. An example of that is Michelle Obama, who stayed with Barack when he was broke, held him down when he was working his way up and stood by his side when he became the first black President of the United States. A ride or die woman is not the woman who is waiting in the getaway car while her man is robbing the bank or the woman who helps her man bury the body of the person he just murdered. Don't confuse stupidity with loyalty.

I'm a very loyal person but I'm a ride or die for myself! I will never compromise my integrity, my morals and my faith for nobody! Like the Ladies on The Real said, I could not trust a person that would put me into this kind of position. I haven't build myself up, went to college, got two bachelors and two masters to ruin all of that for somebody. You can go and die while I ride on my own.

So glad they pointed this out. This concept of "ride or die" is only about women standing by bad men. Ain't nobody asking men to be ride or die. I ain't ride or die for nobody. My husband and I had that conversation before we got married. We're committed, we'll do what we can to make it work. But when it doesn't work for us anymore, we'd rather split and save each other (and in the future, our children). I'd rather recognize that its over before we can't be civil.

I caught a case at only 17 years old because the boyfriend I had at the time would force me, literally, to go out and crime with him if not he would choke me or things like that. We ended up catching an aggravated case and I was looking at 5-99 years in prison, I luckily only got two but got deported, lost my whole life all for having that ride or die mentality. 13 years later my life is so different I have an absolutely wonderful husband and about to graduate and obtain my bachelors degree in nursing. That mentality will get you caught up for sure.

I'm a very loyal chick and I learned this the hard way, you can be loyal all you want but if that person isn't going to be loyal or worse put you down. Throw them away! Don't let toxicity into your life. Get someone who will help you build something from the ground up. I'm not saying all couples start a buisness, unless you want to & your partner does too, but get something that's both yours. Or at least help build each other up. You know why? They have the wrong idea of the concept of ride or die is. Ride or die references true loyalty to a significant other, family member or friend. The type of loyalty that means you'll stand by your person when things get challenging. One must learn to be loyal to the right person that would never make you compromise your integrity or your well being. I wish they leaned more towards that in their discussion.
