  • Welcome back to the channel everyone!
    I'm back again with part 4 of my 02 Arctic Cat ZR 600 EFI Series! In today's video I'm digging into the power valves and getting them installed in the engine!
    I show how to remove the valves, clean, explain how parts fit together, what to inspect and put them back in the engine. So Check the video out and chime in with any questions about the process.
    Thanks again for all of the support on the channel and continued conversation! Stay tuned for more on this series.

      Yep. Gotta keep an eye on them. Pop em out ever year and wipe them off with some brake cleaner on a rag and they're good to go. Keeps em tip top.

    Hi Andrew I just seen your videos...very educational which helps a lot of guys out like myself....I have a Arctic cat ZR 600 EFI.....I have a bad bogg is when I put the throttle to the bar wide open she dies down I cleaned my power valves other than she stays running nice and goes along good gets up to speed slowly

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-

      Thank you very much I'm glad it helps out a lot of guys because I didn't get much help when I first started fixing snowmobiles I kind of had to find this information myself. Yes the 600 efis are nice sleds. So do you still have your bog? Will it now slowly get up to speed? What year is your 600 efi? One thing that you can look into are the smart valves inside the fuel tank which are the pickups for the fuel pump. Those can start to go bad and need to be replaced but instead you can put a tiny quarter inch slit in them and that will allow them to open up like they should and allow full fuel flow. There could be other things to look at though if your snow will be a will eventually gain speed. You could be looking at low compression or bad clutching. Bad clutching could be worn out clutches or the wrong setup.

    Andrew, hi. I'm happy to watch your videos again. This video is very good. It not only shows you how you work but also teaches others how to do it right! Very, very good! Of course, I know this myself and can do it, but I still watch your videos like a good movie . Unfortunately you couldn't remove the spring because you didn't loosen the other end of the cable on the control lever :) hahaha )))) I by the way, when I disassemble such nodes and they are poorly understood, I think, And I can then put it all back together ))))) So sometimes it's better not to disassemble it )))) Why are you scrubbing the parts with a brush? Wouldn't it be easier to immerse them in a solvent and an ultrasound bath? I do that. The result is always excellent! Andrew, O-rings and cuffs, and any rubber seals. If they have nothing to replace and need to be put back, I soak them in ammonia (Formula: NH3 * H2O, or, more commonly, its notation as ammonium hydroxide: NH4OH.) For 1-3-5 minutes no more! Then I wash it. The elasticity is restored.

      Thank you very much for the kind words. I do like work. Soemtiems it can bs tedeous but the ens result is great if you do it right! You always seem to have some good little tips ans tricks. I will have to try the ammonia trick some time. Yeah I hit the parts with a wire to show someone tjat doesnt have a part washer (like I do) how it could be dine. These valves had some nicks in them so also had to hit with a flap disc.

      @@Fixin2Ride-Official- Andrew, rubber seals can also be soaked in kerosene. Depends on the composition of the rubber. As for the dampers: If there is no ultrasound bath. Then you still should not brush them with a brush. The iron brush, the more abrasive the nozzle, creates a bully. These teasers will subsequently either interfere with the movement or if the pair is precision, then there will be air suction that will also disrupt the work.By the way, the pistons burn out easily due to air suction. For this reason, I clean such nodes ONLY with something soft. A rag, a Brush made of wool.I soak it in a solvent and clean it. It's something that doesn't fit in my tub. It is small ))) But for cleaning the perfect thing.

    Hey Andrew I just picked up a 2002 ZR600 I noticed on the right power valve it’s missing the 3 socket head (allen bolts) would that cause the power valve not to work properly? I’m learning as I go on this one. Thanks!

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  Год назад +1

      Yes. I believe so as there is a spring that needs to be achored to the cylinder via the plate that is held in by those bolts. It will just get pushed away from the cylinder and only slide down when exhuat pressures lower the closer to idle it gets.
      The power valves dont moce until around 6,700-7,000rpms. So if one is moving before that on account of exhaust pressures it will hinder performance.

    • @Fixin2Ride-Official-
      @Fixin2Ride-Official-  3 года назад +1

      Youre speaking in terms of "Race Pistons".... Forged piston dont expand as fast as a cast and therefore can be ran at tighter tolerances... They are used in race engines for this purpose. Heat the wrapped pipes up and then hammer on the engine for one hard pass in a drag race without worry of cold seizing. Cast pistons, with proper cyl to piston clearance, when treated right on a properly functioning machine will last 10,000 miles easy.
      When using forged pistons on a trail sled, the engine has to idle much longer to warm up every use of the sled from cold starting, to avoid damage on account of different heat expansion rates of the cast cylinders and forged pistons and thats just not good for the cylinders. Regular use of and proper warming procedure of forged pistons will cause the cylinders to glaze over and that causes poor lubrication and compression as the cross hatching is filled in with hardened oil/carbon deposits (i.e. the glaze)...
