Vader never lost drive to succeed Sidious. Dooku was okay with being second in command until the untimely death of his master, and possibly ultimately taking an king under his wing. Sidious could possibly read Anakin, having such a high midi count and raging drive to be better, as more useful qualities as the number two sith. Problem with Dooku is he was okay being number two but definitely wouldn’t want to be number 3. He managed to keep the sith in line for centuries and even instituted non force sensitive authority figures despite keeping a mostly hands off approach on the situation. Most sith empires last as long as the leading figure can go unchallenged and use their strength to keep the other siths in line. The new sith empire would have anakin, sidious and dooku as its heads making it extremely hard for anyone to step up against these powerhouses and seeing how each of this individuals had different interest they would have little need to face off against each other.

    • @aussiemenace6897
      @aussiemenace6897 4 года назад +4

@@frking100 That's what I thought too dude. Like that video (which was a while ago) on the comic about sidious secretly creating the half-machine × half-force-sensitive abominations, unbeknownst to Vader, then sending Vader there to inspect them, Vader doesn't like them and I think the feeling was mutual, then they fight and as they're fighting Vader looks up to a catwalk and sidious is watching them. Then long story short, turns out sidious planned the whole thing to test them against Vader and even potentially replace him, which if I'm not wrong he tried on a few occasions.
But yeah, so maybe the reason sidious wasn't interested in an army of Sith like Dooku is because he was aware of the rule of 2 and what he did to his master, and so was probably constantly worried about meeting the same fate.

@alvi syahri Well you would think that would work, but in real time war, you cannot hope to best a nation that has a larger industrial base than you have. Even if your quality is better, their quantity will overwhelm you when it is of sufficient level. That is how the US won every war it has participated in since WOI, by simply overwhelming their enemies. The only time they outright failed was Vietnam and Iraq in the civil/guerilla war phase of those wars.
so the fact that vitiate and Revan managed to keep their empires together against a far larger state, is more evidence that they were simply better emperors. Sidious lost to a group that didnt even have afull sized fleet lol

*Supreme Chancellor:* [Anakin cuts off Dooku's hands ending the battle. Anakin catches Dooku's lightsabre and ignites it and puts both lightsabres to his neck] Good, Anakin, good. Kill him.
[Dooku looks at Palpatine in shock]
    *Supreme Chancellor:* Kill him now.
*Count Dooku:* [speaking quickly] Palpatine is Darth Siddious, he wants to turn you to the dark side, I'm his Apprentice. He set this whole thing up.
    *Anakin Skywalker:* What?
    *Supreme Chancellor:* Dew it!
See how dangerous he is, his lies could tear the Republic apart.
    [Anakin hesitates]
*Count Dooku:* Wake up Kenobi, I can't do anything [displays his stumps], leave Siddious restrained in his chair for the time being [Anakin looks confuse at the mention of Siddious], …Palpatine [Anakin realises who he meant].
If Palpatine breaks free you'll know he's a Sith Lord. Secure all the lightsabers - Kenobi's, so he can't summon one.… [Tired] And slap him awake.
Oh I need a medical droid.
*Supreme Chancellor:* We have to get off this ship, he's trying to trick you into staying put. I told you he was dangerous, even unarmed… he's _underhanded._
*Count Dooku:* There's a medikit over there, only place on this blasted droid ship that has one. Give Obi-Wan a stimulant to revive him, and a painkiller for me if you would be so kind.
[Anakin waves his robotic hand at Dooku]
Okay half a painkiller, cause this is double the hands.
[Obi-Wan groans and wakes up after Anakin injects him].
    *Obi-Wan:* Did I miss something?
Why's the Chancellor still tied up up?
*Count Dooku:* General Kenobi, remember what I said on Geonosis, Palpatine is the Sith Lord I warned you about [Palpatines eyes go wide, he mutters "motherfucker" under his breathe]. Be on guard and draw your sabre [indicating Anakin's belt], he is more powerful than even Master Yoda.
*Chancellor Palpatine:* As I said, even his words are weapons.
*Count Dooku:* [to Kenobi's] He told Skywalker to kill me after I had surrendered and was helpless [holds up his stumps]. He wants Skywalker as his new Apprentice.
*Obi-Wan Kenobi:* Is that true Anakin?
*Anakin Skywalker:* It is my master, he told me to kill a unarmed prisoner.
[Obi-Wan's eyes go wide in realisation…Anakin's jaw drops as it finally penetrates his thick head that he's been played all this time].
*Count Dooku:* Finally… now can I please get some painkillers.
*Supreme Chancellor:* [Now speaking as Darth Siddious]
    Dammit… so be it.
[Gestures and Dooku's sabre, now holstered on Anakin's belt, flies forward. But Anakin is able to grab it in time, both he and Kenobi activate their lightsabers. Darth Siddious's restraints fall away]
*Darth Siddious:* Treason is it? No, you all died, only I managed to survive. I suppose I'll just have to settle for Ventress as my new Apprentice.
Pity young Skywalker I had plans for you… such potential.
[Force lightning leaps from Siddious's fingers and sends Obi-Wan flying back to be knocked senseless against a bulkhead, yet again. Siddious then turns his attention to Anakin as he has moved forward, but Anakin is able to block the Force lightning with both blades crossed. Anakin is inching slightly forward, but also being affected by glancing shocks. It's a stalemate, will Anakin be able to press ahead to strike down Siddious? Will Darth Siddious be able to overcome Anakin Skywalker with his dark power of Force lightni blaster bolts hit him straight in the heart].

Darth Siddious momentarily forgets Count Dooku is disarmed not immobilised as he continues to assail Anakin with force lightening, and Obi-Wan still struggles to come to his senses.
Dooku musters a final effort and pushes himself, with great effort, into a standing crouch near to Siddious. Count Dooku launches himself into a shoulder charge knocking Siddious off balance.
Though the surprisingly agile Siddious manages to step aside and avoid being bodily knocked over [just as the daring Count tumbles into a roll off to his right], Siddious' lightening is no longer striking Anakin, giving the young Jedi a chance to advance further, almost within striking distance; As the deadly dark lord of the Sith rounds on Anakin and once again assails him with all his dark power!
Dooku is practically incapacitated with pain, has no arms with which to use a weapon, yet he notices he is now closer to the where med-kit and the barely conscious Obi-Wan Kenobi now lay.
Anakin still struggles against Siddious' destructive onslaught.
Siddious intends to kill all in the this room in a fit of rage, especially Count Dooku. Will He succeed?

It wasn't uncommon for Palpatine to test his apprentice's in this manner, as seen in the Maul comics made by dark horse, with "winner stays on" stakes, ensuring Palpatine always had the strongest apprentice possible. Dooku's choice was simple, win the duel, go on to be the right hand of the empire, or loose, and die, with Anakin becoming the new sith Apprentice.

I always assumed that Dooku's intentions with the Separatists were pure, that he believed Sideous would cause the Republic to crumble using the Clones to turn against the framed Jedi, forcing the Separatists to win and gain control of the galaxy, thus ending the seedy corruption that had slowly ensared the Republic and the feckless Jedi Order. I can see why Christopher Lee thought Dooku wouldn’t beg. However, that would be the best part of him begging in that moment. When it happens we’re focused on Anakin, and his descent, and nothing else. But seeing such a proud and esteemed man of ceremony reduced to a sudden fleeting moment of terrified anguish would be shocking. It would make Anakin’s deed far more sinister and give you a pit in your stomach. And most importantly, it would get you thinking: why would he be reduced to begging the Chancellor for his life? What sort of power does Palpatine really hold over him? How did Dooku expect this duel to end? My mind never went there during this scene in the film. I’d like to think that break of character would’ve actually improved the scene. Idk, maybe something like this would only work with a more fleshed out Dooku in the films. I guess if you don’t really get that impression of status, confidence, and superiority from Dooku seeing him beg makes his character look wish-washy or throw-away. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dooku’s biggest flaw his entire life was his hubris. From his time as a Padawan through the end. He always believed he was more deserving, rules didn’t apply, he was better etc. His fate at the hands of Skywalker was the perfect conclusion as the scene they left in the movie showed the pure shock on his face as he realized his greatest flaw had struck again. To be a part of a order that specializes and primarily deals in deceit and be surprised by it also shows a level naïveté on his part that again, goes back to his belief he was the exception.

Well you're talking about Legends Dooko. Canon Dooko is a mystery, we don't know his vision for canon.

I've wondered for some time time what would have happened if Dooku followed Sith tradition and killed Sidious over Coruscant and became the master. Naturally, he followed Sidious' plan for reasons stated in the video and didn't put two and two together, realizing his imminent death. Had he though, I'm sure he would have taken matters into his own hands.

I really feel like the Canon keeps slowly cannibalizing Dooku.
I thought he was the guy who left the Jedi order due to their inconsistencies, and the politics of the time?
Sure, he had questionable morality, but he wasn't evil. He was supposed to have almost never had yellow sith eyes. I thought his motivation was to re-shape the galaxy into a more liberated place in response to the oppression of the Republic?
Yet here we find he's basically space Hitler, the clone wars series paints him as sinister and methodically evil to the nth degree. I... liked morally gray Count Dooku better.
