- Hey guys in this video we go over my recent DIY sim racing rig build. I built the entire sim racing rig out of wood and other cheap materials. If you're looking for a budget sim rig then building one yourself is definitely the way to go! You can customize your sim rig any way you want and have it fit any need that you might have! I like seeing other people's rigs, it's kind of funny that we did the exact opposite approach to rig enclosure. I built a roof above mine and curtains around the monitors and around the back of the rig. Mine is completely enclosed everywhere except the pedal box, which I left open. You enclosed your pedal box and left the rest of it open.
Meanwhile you saved like 800 dollars! Great job! Love it!
new to the sim world as well! got my wheel and pedals and working on the cockpit now! this is awesome to see and gives me some ideas of building instead of buying! psyched for more as you build out and race! eager to get mine going as well and start exploring and learning just as you are!

My first rig was a DIY using the ricmotech RS1 plans. It was a solid rig that I used for a few years until I eventually went with a Sim-lab rig. It was extremely solid I just wanted something better looking that was modular to build off of.
Your rig looks great. I wanted to make an enclosed rig like an arcade machine with the roof and and back.and if we had more space, I probably would had that. Funny about the projector, because we had an event at work, and all In kept thinking is "I wonder how great that would be for racing". Lol. But, again due to space constraints, I have triple 24" monitors and a VR headset, but I do miss when I first got back into sim racing 3 years ago with a portable folding Thrustmaster wheel/pedal setup on our 70" living room TV playing on my, at the time, 8 year old gaming laptop.
If you're submerged then you won't need the Fire Extinguisher.... Blower will fan the flames of immersion for sure! 🤣😂

I've got a cardboard box laying around I can use. All i need to do is cut a hole in the front and plonk it in front of the TV and sorted lol.

Love it man! thats absoulutely amazing and creative. tbh the steering wheel looks amazing so enjoy it. but a tip is for your comfort try tilting the wheel down and if you can, try getting a metal adapter for your wheel, as the plastic one might break in an intense rally stage🤣

Hey hoss, I love your DIY approach to building your whole sim rig Structure (hardware mounts + seating, etc.) rather than spending a Ton of money on a Lot of overpriced products/components 👍! But, just felt like I had to mention… Make sure you confirm how much Total Power, watts/amps, you are asking to pump through a single Extension cord and what *appears* to be a basic, light duty Power-strip. I dunno dunno for sure off the top of my head, lol, been awhile since I looked the data and did the simple calculations for how stuff like how heavy of wire gauge is required to Safely pull (X) number of Watts with (X) Length of power cable. And I could be wrong but, I’d say you *maybe* could use at Least an Extra Heavy duty, Heavy Gauge ext. cord..? Or you Really might need that Fire extinguisher! Lol, just some friendly advice to possibly protect all your gear and the Homes electrical system.

Even the lightest duty extension cords will be rated well above 10 amps, probably closer to 15 amps. Thats enough for over a thousand watts. You could power a microwave oven with even the lightest duty extension cord. Nothing in this rig is even going to sniff that kind of power consumption. The only thing you could install in a rig to even worry about the capacity of an extension cord would be a full motion platform.
@@noname-gp6hk Not saying he is gonna be pulling too much power. But, the Average extension cord is 16gauge, and that’s rated for 7 amps/840 watts up to 50’. Just a gaming PC alone can draw usually somewhere between 500-1,000watts. Yet even with PC, the Wheel, the blower motor, and whatever else is currently plugged into that power strip I’d say there’s a good chance it’s Totally Fine. Even if merely a slim chance of it be’n Not fine, it is still unquestionably closer to a possibly than Your reply suggests, IF taken at face value. - Fact IS: The “Lightest” gauge ext. cord is 18g and rated for maybe Half the load you Incorrectly, yet Confidently advocated. Though by far most egregiously, you Replied to Me with tone of Condescension and unearned superiority… Don’t do that.
Ultimately, it has no effect on Me either way 👍.

Try VR, you'd come out about the same in the end as far as price. Maybe borrow a friends quest or something to test it first.
