Going faster in reverse? Adjust the timing Brushed motor (Tekin) motor TopTip

  • With the mirrored tranny in my COD rig i noticed after installing that like many brushed motors, also the Tekin 35T HD motor was running faster in one direction. So if i installed it that way, it would go faster in reverse.
    I decided to try something different, adjusting the timing of the motor just a bit. It works perfect!
    This neat little trick does not just work for Tekin motors off course, but also for other motors that can be identified as "rebuildable'.

    Speaking to how easy it was to set this up, I’m falling in love with crawlers coming from bashers and airplanes, stuff doesn’t break nearly as easily, mistakes don’t cost anything usually, batteries last forever, anywhere is a crawler park, cheap brushed motors are the standard, and the parts are simple and easy to work on. Awesome hobby =)

      Those are exactly the same reasons I went from bashing to crawling. But then I got the in to scale crawlers... trying to make my cars as scale as possible and let's just say my wallet didn't like that at all. My first scale truck as over €2000 in it and my second one well over €1000. So while I agree with most over your points, cost isn't one of them :)

    I was given a old epic peak brushed racing motor and was curious about the timing. Thanks for making this video!

    Thanks for the explanation! My motor has the timing adjusting slot but it does not start by itself unless I try to spin the rotor manually.. and when it stops is the same everytime spin it and restart, what could be the problem?

      No, those are the stock Axial sliders which i customized a bit.

    After timing do you lost a bit momentum in the forward direction?

    • @1967illya
      @1967illya  7 лет назад +2

      Hey Crawlervideo. After adjusting the timing i lost just a bit a rotationspeed forward. But not really worth mentioning to be honost. Also i am running this on 3S, so there still is plenty of power/speed left.
      I have become a strong believer in running 3S. It makes these kinda motors run much smoother and you can always go slower on 3S, but never faster on 2S :)

      Nice tip for 3S i never try 3S because i am afraid break parts to quick! Maybe now i try 3S!

    nice video! how bout if the motor is rnning in reverse?

    • @1967illya
      @1967illya  7 лет назад

      Well, i guess if it then still is faster in reverse, you can do the trick the other way. So turn the endbell towards the other side.
      That also seems to be the reason why manufacturers day they motor have a "fixed" most optimal turning direction, due to the fact that they already changed the timing. little do they know that we mirror our transmissionplates :)

    Could of easily switch the wires plugged the red in black and black in red lol

  • @MrJuggahomie
    @MrJuggahomie 8 лет назад +1

    all you do to fix this is reverse the black and red wired going to the motor and put your transmitter back to normal instead of reversed. adjusting the timing will create more heat in your motor.

      Yes and no... I know that trick. But many motors like the Tekin have a prefered rotation direction. Even Tekin states so...
      The method used was adviced to me by John Holmes. I guess he knows what he is talking about.

      Please, enlighten me.... As this method was told to me by Tekin themselves. How should i do it?
