Longrange blog 102: Setup BDC
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 май 2014
- Caution: Might cause death by boredom. A viewer requested film, how to set up a ballistic data table and I added how to make your BDC work in any weather condition.
Nice info, really helps me. Thanks. Keep updating tricks. Really appreciate
Good, glad it is of help!
did'n get that vid. i think i shall watch it again when i gain more experience. thank you for your work, Thomas :)
No problem Anton. Is about how the number of clicks you use will vary with changing weather. Instead of using dope cards, just put it on the turret (BDC) and calculate only the changes required for the different weather.
Excellent info!
Yes I figured this would be useful. Makes the actual shooting so much easier.
Thomas, thanks a lot for this great Vid !! It really helps to open my Eyes !!!I would really enjoy if you can made a vid Shooting the HK417 on Long distances.Best Regards
+PredatorTT Sorry, unable to do any films with a HK417.
*****
Yes, i thought so. Not your privat weapon.
But again thanks for your great Videos!!
Thomas,
Thank you posting this playlist. I have a couple of questions:
1. How do you determine what is a "significant" deviation from the baseline?
2. How do you determine the range increments that you use to apply corrections to the baseline.
Thanks,
Jim
Hi Jim. Basically it was a timeconsuming process of trial and error until I found the match (10 Celsius or 30 hPa, you can also try 7 Celsius and 25 hPa if you want to be more precise). Exactly what constitutes a "significant change" can be left a little to your discretion. I use 1 click at 500 meters as "significant", as changing one click requires a physical action and therefore constitures "significant" with my perspective.
I also chose my temperature interval based on mean temperature/ pressure during hunting season and what temperature change I can easily estimate (freezing water and sweating body) and 30 hPa requires approximately 240 meters elevation change.
Do you do much .22lr training/shooting? I just picked up a CZ455 VPT as a new .22lr trainer, I think a video featuring some .22lr stuff would make a great blog episode.
Sorry no, I have a 22lr barrel but no scope.
Dear Thomas,
thanks for the video. Interesting to see, that you work with the deviation off your standard weather data. The wind isn't the contend of you data sheet?
Do you know the cards which use military snipers from switzerland? If you are interested I can send you (very interesting!)
No I have the wind on the turret or in my head so no need of a data sheet. I think I have seen the Swiss version of data cards, but thanks for the offer!
Would you include windchill value, or humidecs? or just the ambient air tempeature?
No. I set humidity default 60% and then the deviation never reaches a significant value here. Keeping track of temperature is by far the most important elevation variable if you have to choose one.
Was not a boring vid to me. There are plenty of people like me (hopefully) that are learning more and more, and comprehending more and more each day to be a better shooter. Bad data in...bad results down range. Unless you have a bad suppressor? ;-D Any chance I can get my hands on your "color column" data sheet for weather input like the link to your targets in *F versus *C? I really liked the one you and Ulf used in your LR tutorial DVD. If you made this a "hard card" like your shot/bipod cards I would buy that too. I like the cards because I can Velcro the back to keep in place in my data book, they are waterproof, and are hard to ruin.
That can be arranged. No, I will not make a version to sell - it'll be a free download.
Awesome, keep me posted when its available! Thanks !
:-/ I miss placed the link to print this BDC table. I searched all over your web site. So if you can get me the link it will be much appreciated. Thanks!
JimmyGunXD556 I haven't updated my own webpage yet. You can find it as link 2 and 3 on this side www.lindrothnorin.com/lankar
***** Thanks. I downloaded the file. Though not to be a pain in the ass I like the format that your video displays versus what the downloads looks like. It being in Excel maybe I can shift some things around. I might have to figure a way of making the weather BDC in a range card size. Again thanks for getting back to me with the link I now have a way to make it permanent on my ballistic panel I made.
Thomas... have you Neco QuickLoad software??
With a correct set up, It is a awesome software, i recommend you.
No I haven't. I have read good things about it.
Ouch! At $150 I'll leave that program alone.
***** :D
***** ..and buy beer
Pasha Tereshkin $150 would be like 2 beers or 2 kgs gunpowder in Norway. I know what will be more fun ;)
why you use only red (U...) ligne and not the green (R...) ligne ? And at 3:07 you change why before it was U99 and after it's U100 it was a bug ?
The green is windage (sideways) and irrelevant for the bullet drop. The red is elevation (up/down) and used for the bullet trajectory. The U99 versus the U100 is a very good observation and one of the regular bugs with Applied Ballistics. The U99 was calculated against velocity 838 msec because the program didn't take the powder temperature correction into account. The U100 was calculated against velocity 834 msec because I manually forced the program to take the powder temperature correction into account. Well spotted!
thx guys for the precision ! i subscribe very good channel pour the sniping. You live in GB ? Because you not use yard you use meter !
Thomas, kann ich Bei Dir ein Kurs Longrange machen?
Sorry no, I do not do any courses.
Hej thomas
Kan jag ladda ner denna mall någonstans? Eller den som ni använder i filmen?
Lindrothnorin.com burde ha den på sine nedlastingssider
