    Just bought a Box (10) of Lapua 300gr Scenar .338LM Cartridges (GB528) for my Sako TRG42. Really nice looking Brass, nicely annealed and everything so it should be great for reloading when I can (and will definitely have to at $75/$7.50 per Round).

    • @THLR
      @THLR  6 лет назад

      Yes it is a round that dictates reloading. It is a very straightforward round to reload, I used Vit N570 but many of the slow powders should do the same job.

    I though you were kidding you cracked a tooth. When I saw you break the shot, it seemed premature. So I thought you got caught up on a light trigger. I guess it was your tooth. Ouch is right ! .4 MOA is sick @ 1400 meters. I shoot 2 MOA @ 100 yards! LOL! Awesome vid always fun to watch.

    You obviously don't understand Ballistic Coefficient, and Max SS distance, so naturally you will pretty much assume that the .50 BMG is all that is capable of reaching out and touching someone at that distance. The .50 BMG or Browning Machine Gun cartridge, is certainly able to handle a distance of 1000-1400 meters. Though, why take a rifle that weighs 33 pounds, when the BC of a .243 is still high enough that you can still make a shot of 1000+ meters. The .338 is a badass choice. Sweet setup!

      It can be. Came home to white snow, blue skies and little wind this weekend and everything looks splendid. Weatherwise it's a hard region which again contributes to the low population and (in my opinion) is part of the beauty.

    Each year there is a long range shooting competition at the Wittington Shooting Center at Rapon, New Mexico, USA. Owned by the National Rifle Association of the USA. Some of the shooting events exceed one mile. Information of this event is on the web and RUclipss. Would like to see you there.

    • @THLR

      Sorry no, it would be wildly expensive in both time and money to travel to New Mexico, USA. There's no way I can source those resources to go shoot targets.

    Would you say the 300 prc allows you to do what this 338 lapua magnum can do? Also what do you think of this hensoldt scope vs the newer ones you have used in general. Thanks for the vids

    • @THLR
      @THLR  2 года назад

      This is a very old film. A 300 PRC should definitively match the flight characteristics of a 338 LM when using the modern .30 bullets 215-250gr weight range. See ep 226 where I'm using the 300 Norma with Hornady 225gr ELD M, no reason why the PRC wouldn't do the same. That said, I ended up not having much use for the 300NM as carcass damage was excessive. ruclips.net/video/n91ueatnGeQ/видео.html

  • @longsnipz

    is that scope available in the US? if so how much? i like the range finder- looks like the same range finder in a russian pso scope on a dragunov. other than the 50cal the .338 looks to be a punnisher- how much more recoil than a 300win mag?

    Hi.
    It is true that you sometimes have filmed through a zeiss Diascope 65T with Mildot/Finndot? If so, do you have any information regarding the size of the thin lines, dots, poles ? - sometime it vary a bit depending on the brand.

      +THLR.NO Ok, but thanks for the reply anyway. In the meantime, I learned to use my brain, so I shoot a photo through the scope aiming at a ruler. I can then import the photo into a CAD program at work and measure out what I need.

    I guess the noise reduction is considered beneficial to the ecology. You don't want to make the animals stress out. I like the Norwegian interpretation of green. In America, they are clearly looked upon with suspicion.
    What makes the .338 so special? Why not just use a .308 for 1000 meter shots? Please comment at length. I am very close to deciding on buying a .338 LM. Tak.

  • @450teamsuzuki

    I was just wondering because the center of the target looked like it tumbled or is that how big the entry hole is with the .338? I really like the set up by the way.

  • @XtremeMotocross911
    @XtremeMotocross911 12 лет назад

    Wow, you guys are good! this must take so much skill shooting at 1,400 meters! were i live in southern Missouri, you are lucky to see 400 meters. there is a shooting range i know of that goes 1000 yards out but i don't have near the skill or equipment to shoot that far. I do have a 6.5x55 Swedish Mouser with a 2-7x32 scope that does just fine around here. Nice vid 2, +Subscribe+

      Stacey Reynolds It was underneath the cap, not over. Apply pvc tape for a very tight fit. When it's very tight, use a hairdryer to heat the cap so it'll be a little flexible. Put it on and let it shrink-fit. Caution: Too tight and it will not close.
