    U could get a few bearded dragons because maggots are their favorite food. lol
    I know this is very difficult to deal with and talk about.
    I try to think of it in a different way. The stage of a maggot helps determine exact time of death. In criminal cases, it can be the evidence that’s needed to arrest the killer.

    I had to help on three disinterments in my brief cemetery career. All happened to be female corpses. There were maggots on all of the bodes. One was buried for just a few months, one was years and I don't remember how long the other one was in the ground. I was told to expect it and I did but it was unplesant to say the least. I'll skip the other stuff for now.

But I am certain that you do everything possible to protect your clients and your families from anything that would cause them pain. In my family, if you aren't WITH our loved ones when they pass away the day they die, then you simply do not get to have a 'visitation' with them in death. That's that. We don't believe in embalming, only in natural burials and /or direct cremations.. We think that instead of expensive funeral home services, the money should be spent on a decent memorial memorial in the family plot, the rest on education for children of the living.

    Not in the funeral industry (unfortunately... I'd like to work with stillborn babes and their mamas/families), but I do have two ponies in my front yard... I adore them, but livestock bring flies. When they come in the house, I go CRAZY, I make all the rooms as dark as possible, I use a flashlight to lure them to a spot on the wall in front of me, then SPLAT! Your hairspray method sounds less time consuming. Will you *PLEASE SHARE THE BRAND OF HAIRSPRAY* that you use to hunt the flying annoyances?? Thank you :)!

    • @spiritmatter1553
      @spiritmatter1553 3 года назад +2

      I’d guess that the cheapest hairspray is probably the most effective. I don’t like the smell of hairspray personally. I have one of those battery-powered fly swatters from the hardware store. I know I’ll sound like a sick b@stard but gotta admit how satisfying it is to electrocute those damned things.

    • @MyBelgianAzzy
      @MyBelgianAzzy 3 года назад

      @@spiritmatter1553 A sick- err- person? No way. Flies can be so annoying. I literally have a double door lockout procedure for getting in my room in the summer 😂, because the worst is a fly that makes it's way in, the lights go out, the phone or tablet goes on for Netflix, and BAM! the fly starts divebombing my head to get to the light of my electronic. I've been looking into getting an insect salt gun, so I can help the $uck3r$ go towards the light more quickly... 🙃😁

    Very interesting. I remember my dad telling me of a time when he worked with my Uncle at their Family funeral home of maggots coming out of a mans nose. I did not realize how common it was. I was just a kid then and figured it was due to no air conditioner up north and windows open for flys.

    Next video should be: “describe a typical day for a funeral pallbearer. What do they do prior to the service to after the service and any other task such as giving an eulogy”? I’ll be a pallbearer for my grandfather when he does pass away and I’ll be giving the eulogy as well. And maybe after that video: “how do you normally seat people for a service at a funeral home or church? I have a best friend named Acadia whom I know for 10 years now and she understands my feelings. If she does come to the service to grief me and to provide me with peace, where would she be seated for the service”? Hope you are doing good Lauren.

    Kerosene in the pouch was an old method my grandpa and father did. The medical examiner in NJ uses dry shampoo which works great. Vinegar and water (1:3 ratio) works aswell then wash the body like normal sanitary care. Bleach and water, there are many methods that work well. But I just find kerosene (which is totally not allowed anymore) a funny solution. Legit from the gas station 😂

    I am an aspiring funeral director/mortician, and I have a quick question:
    How does one go about attempting to witness an embalming before attending mortuary school?
    I am currently a university student, but plan to attend a mortuary sciences program as soon as I graduate. Another funeral director on RUclips said that witnessing an embalming was really beneficial to her, but she never saw my comment asking about the logistics of that.
    What is the legality of doing that? How could I possibly go about scheduling something like that?
    Luckily, I already have funeral directors who have given me a tour of their funeral home, so I *do* have contacts, but I was wondering if you could shed some more light on the subject!
    Thank you for a great video, as always!

    Death industry history is interesting. I don’t even know when coffins turned into caskets or why. If you’re in WNY (I’ve seen the Tim Horton’s coffee you drink!), Forest Lawn has so many interesting dead people...and the art! There has to be some history to all the different types of headstones (other than just $)
    I’d love to hear some “you can’t make this up” stories. Best and worst families? Not names, of course. Just storytime. The one in a million type stories- have you seen people pick up their loved ones to say goodbye & it all went to hell in a handbasket?
    How do you handle families who don’t get along, argue or fight? I come from a family of “wake fighters”. Someone dies, the family gets together and brings up fights from 20 years ago. The younger generation places bets on which old people will get tossed out.

      Flies are not typically drawn to a recently embalmed body, however at any point even a split second during the time between a persons’s death & their embalming it’s possible a fly will lay eggs and those eggs may later hatch within the orifices of the now embalmed decedent.
