Being a funeral intern myself at a funeral home with a high call volume, I have to say you hit the point right on target. It’s hard to create boundaries in this business but you definitely need to have days off for yourself. Well done.
Exactly! Boundaries are a good thing. Thank you!!
I need this job
Dealing with the loss of the little ones . It takes a lot of bottle to do this job. And this lady and those who do this job have my full admiration.
dealing with grief must be the hardest part
cherry soda ! Absolutely!
Meeting with the family almost has to be bittersweet? I know you aren't there to get involved in the families affairs, but I guess it would almost have to feel good to know that you are there to support them, and provide a wonderful service for them? Great video! Thank you!🙂
So weird watching this and seeing the Starbucks right by my apartment. Hello neighbor! Haha
emily struble That’s hilarious!!! Hello!! Lol
Props to mentioning boundaries. I learned to set them at my current job and then found out I wanted to go into the funeral industry as my calling. I like going to work every day, but if I don’t set a boundary of this being my off day then I’ll get called. Now I know how to set those days and how to be flexible.
What a wonderful and much needed service you provide. Thank you.
From the thumb nail, I thought you were AOC 😂. I didn't know she was a part time Funeral Director, lol.
Dee Nugent 😂 I get that a lot
I'm just starting Worshams online program this semester. Coming across your videos seemed like a bit of a "sign" of sorts. Thank you for all of the information and a look into your life as a funeral director!
Lindsey Rediger Congratulations! That’s awesome! I don’t believe in coincidences...😉 thank you for watching. These videos were made with good intentions and I’m so happy they can give a bit of insight! Reach out to me if you have any questions at all!
I think that you cover how heavy the work is very well. Good job 👍
The Rachel Experiment Thank you!!!! I don’t think people realize the depth of this work.. definitely not a typical job.
I'm doing an apprenticeship as we speak. I'm just trying to get as much information as possible during my steps towards becoming an LIC. I've sat In a few arrangements, I haven't seen anything so far though.
I am trying to overcome my phobia of dead bodies. It's been hard but good that I am able to watch vidoes like this. It really effects my life in a negative way. I know it's totally unfounded to have this phobia but not have control of being terrified and it's horrible. I really appreciate ppl like you taking the time to makes these videos. Thank you.
Brit Cook Thank you for watching! If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to ask. Maybe learning more about the dead can help you through it! ❤️
@@EvieVargas that's so awesome of you thank you I'm sure I'll actually come up with several questions!! This has been quite the journey...
I don't mean this in a sarcastic way but surely dead bodies are easily avoided if you are phobic of them?
A very similar resemblance to AOC and that is a compliment
I actually get that a lot! Thank you! Lol
That intro beat is 🔥
Thank You.
Hi Evie, Enjoyed your video. Great to see you on RUclips!
Monty Thornburg Hi Monty! Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it😀

Glad it was helpful!
I am starting my program next semester. I have a full body suit including hands and neck. What advice would you give?
I love your Chanel! New subscriber here 😊🙋🏻♀️
Slash P. Thank you for watching! I’m glad you love it! 😄
Are you in business for yourself and own your own funeral home or do you just work in a funeral home? I would think one of the most difficult things would be going on a death call in the middle of the night to a family’s home after getting a call from hospice. In that case, would you need to embalm the body right away after getting it back to the funeral home or could you just put it on cold and wait till 10 or 11 am after getting some shuteye?
I have my own business and funeral homes contract me to mostly embalm for them. I don’t do house calls or pick ups in general. If someone passes away on Friday night the funeral home will give me a call Saturday morning asking what time I can arrive for embalming. I’m not sleep deprived at all when I’m working which is why I decided to be an independent contractor.
@@EvieVargas Oh ok. That’s interesting. I think I read somewhere where only 50% of all Funeral Directors were licensed embalmers. But do most Funeral Directors who don’t have this license embalm anyway? Is that lawful? What about an apprentice training in a Funeral Home?
@@EvieVargas Do you know that when I was just a kid of about 11-years-old, I was very intrigued with the funeral business and I actually wanted to be a Funeral Director! Many people thought that was pretty weird. Of course I never did and now I’m 65 and a retired civil servant but I still wouldn’t mind helping out in a funeral home.
Hi i reccently found your channell and i think its great but i have a question for this job do i need math its because i suck at math
Depends on the program. The one I went to did not require math.
Does it scare you doing it at night
Hey I’m wearing that same sweatshirt!
I said I would do this but I don’t think I would want to I would probably just cry
I’m 21 and thinking of going to school for this , what’s your advice
Do it and don't let any negative comments or feedback stop you!
i know a director the hardst part is getting deadbeats to pay they cry wine but if they owe you money it's stop calling me or ill sue you now it's COD or go somewhere else all homes are COD now
Wow! Attended worsham college? I will be attending in may 2023! How was your experience there?
They really prepared me to pass the board exams and become licensed! overall a good experience.
In Virginia you have to have a CDL to drive a hearse for a funeral home.
Cynthia Thomas Oh wow. Not in Illinois...
What a scam...
Can depression be triggered when you work at the Funeral industry?
Great question! I would say that it is possible. When I see traumatic deaths it can take a toll on me for several days.
Where does she live?
Would you recommend Worsham?
Yep! I graduated from there!
@@EvieVargas I went through your channel, Thank you so much for the all the great info across your videos! It was really helpful and the info I was looking for while comparing a semi local College versus attending Worsham.
Hello, I had a question. My husband got a job as a secretary to do the paper work answer calls for the funeral home. 2 months in and he is helping put on clothes of the person who passed. Driving them to their burial place (cemetery).I think he should have some type of license since he is physically moving them (like to put clothing on them) . Is this legal? Shouldn't the mortian do this?He said his boss asked him to put makeup on and he told him no, I am not good with that stuff!!Can you help? Google has no answers for me! We live in Texas.
Blair C. Rodriguez Great question! When he got hired did he have a list of responsibilities given to him? Looking over his list of responsibilities could help understand what his position actually is. I’m very confused why his boss would ask him to apply makeup! In IL it’s actually illegal for an unlicensed person to work in the capacity of a funeral director. The driving of the hearse is okay (with a licensed director) but everything else is a bit much. I don’t know the laws in Texas because each state is different. Sometimes funeral homes are a bit more flexible with the rules because no one is watching. I’ll ask a funeral group on Facebook tomorrow and see what they say! I’ll get back to you 🙂
@@EvieVargas Thank You! I told him your responses and he has been telling his boss no ,more often. He was hired as a secretary. He honestly running two offices then helping with everything else . I appreciate your feedback I subscribed to your channel!! Thanks for the input.
Do you ever find yourself becoming overly careful? I mean, when you see how all the ways we stupid humans can get ourselves dead.
What made you becoming a funeral mortician? I was old in high school after taking some of those career tests we’ve all taken, that I should be a housewife or a funeral director. It kind of stunted me for a while, but the. I realized how I could turn it around. So I became a crazy high end wedding coordinator!
Rebekah Bridges-Tervydis I feel like being around death has caused me to have death anxiety. I am aware that it can occur even being careful for example: Pulmonary Embolism can kill you without notice. I will actually be posting a new video with a bit of insight as to why and how I entered into death care. So you’re a high end wedding coordinator? I think that probably involve the same amount of stress as a funeral director! Lol
Hello new subscriber here 🤗 would love to do a collaboration with you. I am a Retired NYPD Detective and worked doing carries at local funeral homes here in NY 🗽
DutyRon Hello! I just requested you on Instagram to chat!

My uncle died today
Why do you make a video explaining why you became a funeral director?
Wendy Torres why don’t I make a video? Or why I made this video?
Sorry...why dont you make a video explaining why? It would be interesting to know.
Wendy Torres Thanks for that idea! That will be my next video.
@@EvieVargas Have you considered teaming up with Lauren(Little Miss Funeral)
I attended Malcolm x college and Worsham!!!
armageddon1981 I went to Malcolm X for my pre-reqs!!!!! Love both schools!!
@@EvieVargas so you're from the Chicago area. I work at my aunt's funeral home but since I'm a railroad conductor, i work for her as needed right now. But i agree i loved both schools. I went to the old Malcolm x building but the new one is amazing!!
I would love to be a funeral director but the only hard this one is kids it has passed away it's not a life on babies it's not had a life that is a hard part about it at least body in the 90s and 80s and 70s and 60s and 50s I've had a life a child and a baby is not a life that is a hard thing about being a funeral put that one day I can be a funeral director I will
Creepy music.
I like it
Can you live your life being a funeral director without being on call 247
There are some funeral homes that will give you set days off. It’s not 24/7 unless you’re an owner.
