I think if having friends help out keeps one house from selling at a loss, fine. But if they're counting on it every time instead of paying, they're going to run out of friends and never learn how to actually do the business because they never have a realistic budget.
The mistake of SO MANY women who just, REALLY, want something to decorate (rather than doing the actual work involved in a renovation). With hindsight, I'd say "Stick to Interiour Design. Leave the renovating to the professionals."

Their taste in decor is bizarre, considering their background as window dressers. Flowered window valance in the kitchen???
Keep in mind that this was filmed centuries ago (relatively speaking). Other than THAT, I agree!!
