THANK GOD for Conservation Officers! They were invented for the likes of Habib. To protect buildings from IGNORAMUSES who should NOT be let loose in a listed building. That is a BEAUTIFUL Art Deco building and Habib hasn't a clue. This is VERY UPSETTING watching him destroy things that are well built, OUT OF PURE IGNORANCE. Bless you, Sarah, for trying to EDUCATE the boy. "Oie..."
Sweet young couple. Although total newcomers, they were able to learn, take advice, and while two week course on plumbing and plastering sounds pretty minimal, at least he did do that. They really put a lot of their own sweat and hard work into it. Plus they knew how to economize, finding a kitchen for $500. My hat is off to them
Every episode I want to tear my hair out or throw something at the screen at how incredibly, naive, stubborn or just plain dumb these people can be and then the next episode comes along and it happens all over again. And Sarah is patient as a saint.
Impressed with the young couple - they matured through the process, were willing to change some of their plans, got help when they needed it, did a lot of hard work themselves.
The thoughts of an idiot. I just bought a 1948 brick home with over 1700 square feet. I read the purchase agreement twice before signing. He's clueless.
Section 20 work on flats is hell. I sold one with 4 of them outstanding - 3 were under appeal, but the money had to be held in escrow until it was settled. It took 2 years.
Habib is such an idiot with no experience, no style and no idea. 1930's Art Deco is a specific design style and involves experience and research to get it right. Just as well mummy was there to bank roll his mistakes. SMDH!
That Habib has got no taste at all!!! I am so sorry that apartment was in his arms!!! If not the restrictions and Sarah’s advises the apartment would have looked horrible!!!
I get the young couple taking a big risk. Even if they screw up there's plenty of time to find success. Their house looks great. The clueless Habib has his own personal ATM - his momma - and he probably never paid her back. And no, Habib - 1930 is not Victorian and neither is 1950. Too stupid and lazy to bother reading papers or even Googling for styles. If not for Sarah he would have totally messed this place up.
I really like this young couple. They're naively crazy thinking they can do everything themselves on no budget (a wing and a prayer), but bravo for trying! I just thinking that they will get through this and go on to bigger and better things. You have to be young and stupid to dive into your life that way, and it's the best way to learn. They are very sweet.
Although it makes sense to have all the plug-in one area, I am still shocked to find all these old small houses have the bog off the kitchen, while there are one or two floors more where all the living happens. Golly. My foreparents were FIT!
How did these kids get 10 credit cards? I had trouble getting just one when I was that age. And why should Habib bother himself with boring paperwork when he can get whatever money he needs from Mommy? He thinks the 1930's style is "Victorian".
Air fresheners!! OMG ... I knew some really lovely people who fostered cats. They had to remove the sub-flooring (cement) of their basement because it was permeated. THAT is how serious cat pee is. Years and years of it... You are NOT going to get rid of it with air fresheners!!!
@@thegreatvincenzo8159 REALLY??? I did not know that! Thank you! I mean, I knew that bleach is absolutely the wrong thing, but I did not know that hydrogen peroxide worked. Do you know if it will work on OLD cat/dog urine stain & smell??

oh? You don't think the bankers had any responsibility? You know, those bankers who lent hundreds of thousands of dollars to people living in trailers with no jobs...? There's a book you can read (or if that's too hard, try the film of the book,) called The Big Short: this will tell you EXACTLY who is to blame for the crash of 2007.
@@swannvictor1388 Thanks for putting the blame where it lay, Swann Victor. People need to realize that the big banks' criminal mishandling of mortgage-backed securities caused millions of people to lose their homes, their jobs and their savings. ... And none of the Wall Street crooks wound up in jail!!! If vase and others don't want to read Michael Lewis's excellent book The Big Short, they can watch the film version.
Luckily they did require he keep the historic features because otherwise he would’ve destroyed the apartment and taken away most of its value. Victorian? 1950s?
Listed properties come with strict regulations. Preserving the property is paramount. This is why prospective buyers should do their due diligence aka proper research before putting in an offer.

God, some people are so thick... dumping life savings into a project they haven't even done research on....
What life savings? The single guy was using his mum's money (and a 2nd mortgage on her house); the couple were using 10 credit cards...
Been there like this young couple . Started with nothing and have worked my way up . It’s hard work and long days but you will get there .
Sarah sure has her way of taking a dig at the clueless developers

I feel so sorry for the young couple. Wish they had finished school, got jobs and saved.
Habib didn't make any money. It too 9 further years for it to sell at £330k. His mother must have been crazy.
As a 60-something, I know I'm elderly - but until now I didn't realize that I was born in the Victorian age!
We'll varnish the smell INTO the floor. NOooooooo!!!!! You have to REPLACE THE FLOORBOARDS!! And even, perhaps, what's underneath.
Love this channel ❤❤❤❤
Ive watched 2 episodes...in both one of the buyers got solid advice and ignored it till they were ruined!
I'll save you some time - that's pretty much the format of every episode! :-P
True. Every episode is a full-on dumpster fire.

I bet Habib's Mum still has a mortgage on her house.
There is an episode with an Indian woman who tried to jam ten bedrooms into a house and didn’t pull permits. His mother perhaps?

Replace some of the cat urine soaked floor boards, spray with Fabreze.

Bleach is a no-no. Hydrogen peroxide splashed liberally around will neutralise any cat or dog pee smells.

while there are idiots like Habib around, we will NEED those rules and regulations or we can kiss goodbye to all our heritage and history.
