- Trying to get this silversides bus back in the road for the first time in decades. This bus took a couple of weeks to get it to this point. Hard work is starting to pay off. It’s almost ready to get back on the highway.
not gonna lie, if that bus pulled up behind me at a red light and honked its horn I'd probably shit myself.
I shit myself just thinking about that....
Rotflmao
And then get out of the way LOL :D
ahahahah You are damn right ! ahahah
I just had an immediate visual. Busted out laughing.
There’s nothing better than bringing something back to life
Great job guys
If Spielberg's "Duel" movie featured a bus instead of a truck, this is exactly how the bus would have looked like. Great job!
Just what I was thinking. It looks creepy as hell
Me Too!
Nobody would be scared of bus. It's just not menacing enough. Duel was written by snowflake Stephen King, who is terrified of big trucks.
@@donkeyslayer4661 The only ❄ here....IS YOU! Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out....Buh-Bye!
Duel 2: Bus vengeance
It’s kind of sinister looking, but that just adds to the coolness. Great job as usual guys.
Hey that was a left-handed comment lol
Looks like something that would be in a Mad-Max movie if you just add some barbed wire to it lol
Reminds me of the Duel truck.
A silver oxide side , hehe..
Imagine that thing coming after you in the middle of the night.
if that came towards me i would run so fast i would enter mach 1
@Bitnik ye it looks creepy
Like something Jeepers creepers would drive.
maybe like Christine
i prefer to run in the forest :D
Another amazing restoration of these amazing machines! Still hard to believe how well made these buses were made back in the day! What pride the builders must of had in what they manufactured! Thanks for saving them!
God that brings me back.... the old man had his in the back 40 behind a fence with 40 other cars and trucks.... every one of them with a story and a plan.... the bus had been a mobile hording shack destined for a motorhome. Thanks you guys... we gots to keep these old ghosts rolling! :)
This was so fun to watch, I was cracking up the whole time....then all of the comments about it chasing them in the night! 😂😂😂 The neighbor at the mailbox put a jump in his step when he saw you coming😂
What a gem! It must've been so exciting and satisfying to revive and then drive that thing!
From mothballs to running laps around the building. You work miracles, Scott and Tyler.
These old busses bring back memories; I remember Greyhound running them over the mountains in southern British Columbia, Canada in the early 1960's.
Tubmaster 5000 I rode on a Greyhound(Silversides) with my Mom and baby Brother, down to San Bernardino, and on the way back to Portland, we were on 101 in the winding Redwoods highway, and the clutch went out. So we were transferred to a newer Greyhound, a 4104, I suppose. This was in 1952. My Brother cried a lot, I mainly remember. I loved riding in the old Silversides, and that was the last time, for Greyhound retired them, shortly thereafter.
@@paulm.6437 But, the 4104's didn't come out 'til 1953.

An exciting day! Congratulations boys on all of your hard work getting the bus to move again! Great job! Thanks for sharing your video, Scott.
Congratulations to all of u! Hang in there Sage, I was crying happy tears watching ur dopey old bus go around that shed, AWESOME! A true treasure.
I love seeing old vehicles being brought back to life so satisfactory!!!!
Just found your channel. I am amazed at how you guys resurrected something that I would have thought was junkyard material. You guys are absolutely talented and relentless in getting these out of the grave. Love the look of these buses. These were way before my time as I am 51 but can really appreciate their beauty! Looking to buy a 1961 Silver eagle as my project. If you find your way to Mesa AZ, I have plenty of space! Keep up the fantastic work!!
Really great to see her actually moving, hopefully we will see the bodywork cleaned and restored and gleaming.
The engine bearer is a work of art no doubt, well done guys, great job!
Great job Scott, Tyler in bringing back to life the great silverside, really like the shape of the rear windows!
He looked and rejoiced, could not take his eyes off. The design of the bus engine sound made a very strong impression on me. Thanks to everyone who participated in the restoration of this bus !!!
Watched a number of your episodes. You sir are a dragon slayer! Just getting it done over and over. I have to use gojo on my hands after each episode. Bringing beasts back to life. What fun!!!
you can tell the new owner is a little overwhelmed. big kudos for not giving up to him and kudos to you for bringing them back, be nice if every industry had guys like us that like the old stuff better
I'm falling in love with these binder busses! Enjoying your videos, good job & thanks for sharing.
These buses are works of art. Thank you for keeping them alive.
I love them
Wish we had stuff like this in the UK great to see them being restored.
Hell, this thing runs like a champ. Smokes like a forest fire when you hit the gas pedal but still runs pretty good for an abandoned old bus. Even the door works! This thing is MINT
Guys like you are truly the best. Bring back old left for dead buses. Brings back memories for old farts like me ( 68 ) to enjoy thanks guys
Hard to imagine the GIs this bus carried off to war and to home. Awesome job. It’s rough but if not for all you guys it would probably have been scrapped.
I just found this channel and I love seeing these things brought back to life.
Glad to see another great piece of history back on the road, again!! 👍👍✌🏻
Brings back memories, we had several old GMC's at my company, one Silverside, some old 1951 transits, I'm tall, was tough to see though those little windows. Glad someone is saving the old beasts.
Kool vintage bus glad to see it wasn't scrapped and even more that it still runs on a Detroit and not repowered!! Badass! Cant wait to see the ole gal completed and shinning!
Great seeing vintage buses, like this one, being made road worthy again. I remember seeing a bus similar to this one just sitting in a lot on the east side of St. Cloud, Minnesota, along Lincoln Avenue north. That might make a good project bus, rather than just see it sit there withering away with time. Great restore here!
That is awesome fella's, just love to see these old busses brought back to life. alot of history. Thx for sharing it with us.
Sage, Im not sure you're going to stay with the look, but it is a badass. The mat silver and aluminum with black wheels it's like a gun metal Harley will fat black tires and wheels, it says get out of the way. Make sure you're horn works on the way to Indianapolis. Nice work Scott , Tyler Sage and the other cool dude, that looked like fun!
Thanks Taylor
The COD BO2 zombies transit bus be like
almost want to say that
be like the bus in nuketown
Wonderful seeing another old GM bus brought back on the road! Congratulations!
iF that old silverside could talk, imigine the history it has seen. Thanks for bringing it back to life again. You gotta be an ace mechanic! I wouldent know where to begine!
This makes me happy to see. Congratulations and good luck with your bus!
Old girl sounded happy to be moving again. Warms my heart to see old machines revived.
These older gems are a labor of....
A labor of........
Well a labor.😂
In all honesty I do indeed enjoy earning the priveledge of driving my motorhome. The constant maintenance and upkeep help me to feel alive.
Some people gamble. Some people drink. Some people get high and some people have old heavy vehicles to nag them into bliss.
What a great looking bus, my kind of vehicle, another bit of history saved. Well done all.In all the videos I have watched of yours, there is one part of the buses that has never been worked on, the lever mechanism for closing the passenger door. It looks an all manual operation and is in constant use,the doors are heavy and lots of linkage to wear. For some reason they fascinate me.
I've never thought of my self as a bus guy, came here for the repairs, but I get it...cool, that old style design is art in motion. But the sound of old diesels is awesome.
Silver Side Classic of Classics beautiful bus thank you for fixing it. greetings from okinawa jpn.
Scott driving round and round the warehouse building was like a kid with his first gas-powered vehicle, maybe a go-cart! I wish we could have seen his face behind the wheel, but the smile he had on his face getting out of it was almost as good! PS....You had better find reverse and get it back up on the gravel before the rain comes and you're stuck in the mud!
I love it when these cool old buses come back to life!
Is nice to see a piece of history rolling again, nice work.👌
I love what you guys do with these busses I want one now!
Awesome Bus,
Thanks for saving her, and Posting.
Even buses back then had some class.
Sage, now it’s a hobby. I got one. Not a silverside but a big 50,000 lbs motor coach. Latest is a house battery that exploded. Waited too long to change them. Dead short in a cell and boom. No damage but acid everywhere. Lots of baking soda baths for a while and new batteries.
I'm going with a 24 volt system using lithium laptop batteries in a blast proof case. I will be running solar and the whole bus could run off a 110 volt 20 amp service.
You folks have impressive passion and perseverance.
This is so cool. I love the way this but looks and sounds.
It’s ready to go home 😁 take it home . Good job to all the people that work on the bus . Looks good .
I had watched Tyler's first, that one is coming along nicely Scott. Another silversides about back on the road.
Another Silversides brought back to life!🔧🚌👍
You can check the alternator quickly with an ohmmeter to see if it is setup for positive or negative ground. With the alternator output wire disconnected, connect the meter positive lead to the output terminal and negative lead to ground; if it is negative ground you will read OL or what your meter reads for an open circuit. If it reads a low number, it is positive ground. Hook it up the wrong way and the diodes are toast.
It’s great seeing this old iron back up and running. That being said I think I would be terrified to see it on the freeway near me.
You know, that sure is one sweet rig.... I mean, you could even forgo the mechanics and just marvel at the design.... Man, we have really lost our way....
Make this today with a biodiesel mill or even hybrid.... I'd travel on it.
That thing sounds good .Too bad ya couldn't take it on the road, and blow the soot out of it ,lol.......Love the sound of it . Man , the Stories that machine could tell you. When you let the clutch out ,and the motor revs down just before fully engaged ,and revs back up, and starts to move it almost sounds like a V8.Can't wait to see it cruising ,and a buzzin. Safe Travels guys......
It’s alive! Great job! This bus is now officially RESCUED!👍
Lookin good! Glad you got that Wheel/Clutch problem fixed.
Scot is an amazingly talented mechanic.
Go Sage!!! Gorgeous coach, and she’s (or he’s?) rolling under her (sorry) own power again! Crosby fam and Jacob, is it? I’m loving what you you do!
We've only started
That brought a smile on my face 😊
Great bus & video. 😊👍
Therapist: "The COD BO2 Transit bus isn't real, It Can't Hurt you."
The COD BO2 Transit bus:
What a beautiful bus, in it's own way! It is always good to see when vehicles like this gets rescued someday.. 😃👍
I can still remember, back in the day, my boyfriend and I doing these kind of resurrections on weekends, usually on old cars, but sometimes on pickup trucks. When we got to the test drive part, we were done for the day, no matter what time it was. We'd get some beer, and drive around until we ran out of fuel or beer. We never ran out of fuel.
I love old Trucks and Buses im sure You will do something good from that old one, good luck and have fun :)
Neighbors were probably complaining about that bus just sitting there. Now they have to watch and listen to it doing victory laps. Nice save guys. Still amazing how things were designed to last back then. Now with all our technology we build disposable stuff
The dogs got pissed when they accelerated atleast
Congratulations! It will be really nice when that coach gets a good wash.
The bus looks evil as hell. Very nice
Good looking bus you guys did a good job on that bus I love it
Great job, guys! Good luck!!!
Thanks
Ahhhh, a reminder of simpler times in US history!
I wasn't alive back then but I miss those days :(
I reccomend using checklists. For most major steps. Like start after rebuild etc. Could be on your phone quite easily. And you could sell it.
Great job getting this running and driving again !
well done !!! this is a work of art technique !!!
Another good day. My "Hey Lance" shirt is still on its hanger. LOL
Beautiful Scott - that was a real credit to you!
Nice to see another silversides back in action!
That's my kind of bus crusty and scary
What a pretty little tank .When I see a battery cable like that one I call it a "no no Napa" :)
When this bus slowly comes around the green building it reminds me of the truck in Stephen Spielberg’s movie Dual with Dennis Weaver.
Must be a great feeling to get these busses going again
Good job!...that one looks like something out of jeepers creepers but im sure a bit of tlc will make it look like a sweet dream...
Great job guys! Another one saved. Hey speaking of saving, you tube Classic Truck Rescue knows of a bus in Oregon 1952 GMC with Detroit motor for sale on a “car” farm in Oregon. Episode 169 posted today.
Magnificent job!!
So many memories growing up, my mom owned 2 of these in Peru
Thank you for the heater core loop answer.
Cheers!!!!
This bus has a very loud unsophisticated exhaust note. Unlike Lenny with the loud exhaust It was still pleasing to the ear if you were standing outside. Something about this one just makes a person want to girt their teeth. Maybe it will get better with use. I still like it anyway, good to see it move and stop. Thanks for letting us watch.
The entire exhaust system had leaks all over it. It is getting a new exhaust this week.
The Sage that’s great, the old girl needs a lot of love, I can’t heap enough good will on someone who takes on this kind of project, good luck. I am sure she will be beautiful with a new paint job and new shoes.
I love the flaking paint and patina. beautiful
Обожаю американские автобусы. Парни молодцы, историю надо хранить.
Fantastic result guys.
That thing needs an insane amount of work!
Great running& sounding 671.
Epic just what I need to watch on my lunch break
To look at it you would say it is the bus version of the Marie Celeste, but when he opens up the governor and the 6/71 goes up through the revs, you know this bus has lots of potential.
Man that bus could be the villain in a new movie.
Let go hisrty4 love of !
If they remade Maximum Overdrive with buses, this one would work.
majcrash :-0). I was thinking Duel.
That bus looks like it just drove out of a black and white movie. It would look great with all clear lenses and coloured bulbs. I would keep it all grey-scale on the exterior.
sounds nice just purring on that idle
Those old detroits almost sound like a Cummins, I love it
liked seeing the old bus move and hope Kelly didn't get too cold filming while the big kids played with the new toy the left turning bus just kidding nice to know it is going to be saved
Очень красивый автобус. Какие же красивые автомобили делали раньше.
