- This video shows the outside and inside of my beautiful 1948 Silverside Greyhound Bus. It was converted to an RV in the 1960s by a master craftsman. Join me as I give a tour of this wonderful piece of American history.
Interested in renting the bus for a night or two (or three)? I can drive it to a location of your choosing and you can enjoy all its amenities. Contact me if interested.
I love the old stuff! I used to love greyhound bus lines when I was a kid! Especially the double decker pd4501
Thank you for sharing
It brings lots of nostalgia to me
They were exported to Peru in the 70s, my grandfather(rip) and uncles drove them for years, I can't never forget the sound
Nothing sounds like a 671 jimmy
You cannot rent it out for enough to cover what the public would do to it. I run a charter service and people will destroy your coach unless you or a driver watches them like a hawk.
Prevost, a GREAT example of how bad people really are can be found on the public transportation system in Atlanta called MARTA, that is IF you can stand the filth and urine smell on their trains and buses that will almost overwhelm you. I've only ridden it once when I was passing through there and I said then I'd NEVER do it again!
Beutiful.
Great sounding 6 71
Personally I would not rent it out.
That old bus drives as good as it sounds!!
So great hearing the story about your bus today Falcon Mike. Such a great history on this one.
Beautiful outside.
One more comment. Just love the sounds of that engine as you go through the gears, eating up highway.
Lenny would love to meet her.
Hey Mike! It’s Andrew from St. Peterbilt. Great to see you yesterday bud! That bus is as amazing as you told me wow! I don’t think i could have passed up buying that too if i had the chance to purchase it. Greatness! I love it. Glad its in the hands of yourself because it will get the love it needs to hopefully survive another 70 years! Hope to see ya soon buddy.
Stunning!!! Absolutely stunning!
A real beauty
Can't wait to see more video's of this bus!!
I am making one for the Christmas parade newt month.
It's a beautiful bus, Mike. I'm envious.
Many thanks!
Nice bus
Looks like all it needs is to have the wheels and sides polished out and maybe change the canister filters to spin ons
Great ideal !! Let me know when you can come over and to that work to her. Thanks Mate
@@falconmike6485 not my bus
It's nice to see the original drivetrain used.
She drives great
What a great sound ! Es el corazón de america !!
Congratulations the bus is awesome
Thank you very much!
I really like this video kudo's to you
Ya gotta love the sound of those Screaming Jimmys!.........6-71 2 Stroke Detroit the Original Green Diesel!
They put those power plants in everything.
A amazing the great condition of your bus! Hope you and Bus Grease Monkey get to trade stories and knowledge.
Sounds wonderful, DD music!
nothing like a screamer
Now i want a silverside Greyhound bus...lol
You need a big garage to park one in.
Very nice. Can’t believe I didn’t see any oil leaks!
The first time I drove the bus we were bringing her home. We stoped for lunch, I looked under the bus upon return, not a drop of oil on the ground.
Looks like one ol Dove owened before he passed
Show, moro ai sem medo de ser feliz!
Sweet
Beautiful bus if you every decide to sell please reach out
to another Historic restoration specialis
I really like the tour, but I wish you had used 360p resolution.
I will try that on the next video.
😂🤣360 p would be like 8 mm film blurred out.
@@phil1fox You are wrong. This video is only 240p. 360p is a higher resolution.
@@shreddder999 never heard of 240p.......
780p is Low Def. 1080 p is considered hi def then there is beyond. 4k ert
@@phil1fox all you have to do is click on the gear icon on this RUclips video and see what resolutions are available and you will see that the highest available is 240p or you could step down to 144p
Did you know that Greyhound name and company originally is from Australia?
nice
looks like a teak reel to reel
You mean TEAC? They're still around.
You need some tire brite on those tires to make the Silverside stand out.
Very nice bus. Was it always a blue and white color or is that the previous owner's color scheme? A lot of the diesel powered vehicles may one day not be allowed to be driven on the highways :(. Climate change an all. Also the price of fuel has skyrocketed so would cost a fortune to drive very far in these big old buses. Thanks for giving us a peek at it.
they make busses different, i ride them sometimes, but they dont make them better than yours
DO NOT rent it out it will get destroyed.
If he wants to see his money WASTED and a beautiful bus destroyed then his plans to rent it out will do just that in a very short time, that is after they steal everything that's not bolted down! I hope he has better sense but.....
Just a question. How are you dealing with the new CARB rules, or are vehicles this old exempt? Beautiful.. would be a shame to have to put in a CARB permitted engine, if there is one that can be put in. That is one of the reasons that my former employer no longer runs out to the coast. He just could not see the expense of having to but new trucks to just cover such a small part of his business, just not economic. The powers that be seem to want to drive most businesses out of the state, and then who is going to transport all of the freight that runs through, or originates, the state???? 'Axe
WHO in their right mind would want anything to do with such a screwed up state? They, like New York, are their own worst enemy.
i was wondering what make and model and year of
your reel to reel is. To me it looks like it might be a roberts or a akai crossfield reel to reel
cat fleas, that's exactly what it is. If memory serves me correctly, only Roberts and Akai had that.
"She IS gorgeous"
Now everything is plastic crap. incredible bus
Art Vandalay Extremely expensive plastic too.
How many people would know how to drive it today?
Did Greyhound use this coach in service in California or where?
Beautiful bus why don’t you clean the engine ?
beautiful beautiful. I would strip out the interior and update it.
Hi, I might update the furniture. The interior was built by the second owner and his wife. They then lived in it in a R.V. park in San Diego for 30 years. The craftsmanship is better than I could do in a remake. The third owner didn't change a thing, honoring the vision of the second owner. I think some things are better left alone.
Ewww... no. Just no. If you don't like vintage don't buy vintage. People ruin a good thing by "updating" the interiors. What we think is cool today, will be hideous and dated tomorrow. Unless it's a classic.
I'm trying to sell a 1947 Greyhound silverside. Any suggestions about how to reach interested people.
All depends on what it is your selling. send some pics to tbrink554@gmail.com
My friend recently sold one on Facebbok market place. Worth a try. They are sought after.
Have you sold it yet kathy? I'd be interested in it!
Mine was listed on Craigs List.
@@falconmike6485 Craigslist is where I found mine also.
How much?
That dated interior would have to go
Mostly everybody that goes inside the bus for a look loves that dated interior and the craftsmanship that went into building it
I like the modern design of the coach, it’s a real classic but that dated interior has got to go.
Nice bus! Thanks for the tour. Check mine out if you're interested.
For all that " long winded Talk " , Did this bus have a " Cook Top & Oven " Or a Microwave and Stove ? !
Did the bathroom Have a " Toilet " ? ! If the answer to any of these " mysteries " is No, then, " Good Luck, " Renting out this bus !
Hi Mr Cray Fish, I have had no problem renting the bus out so far.
@@falconmike6485, I cannot believe you'd take a such a high risk chance with such a beautiful piece of history. Renters can be, and most are, nothing short of animals. It's not theirs so they don't care.
