K554 is a beautiful piece of work; it is also a "sleeper." I wasn't expecting such a beautiful and modern interior. The woodwork is beautifully done. At the end, when the coach is driving away, is pure Detroit diesel, smoke and all. The four on the tree is also nice to see retained. I drove 4104s an 4107s back in the 70s but missed the last of the Silvers by about three months - a huge disappointment. Well done! Thanks!
I remember playing hockey , the bus was a silver side Greyhound . Our team was from Edmonton and we traveled back and forth to Calgary. We went all the way to game seven and lost the1972 peewee A Provincial championship . But I still remember the sound and the reflections of that old bus, nice work on this one. Thank you for sharing.
Concerning the exhaust smoke, that was the original engine. Since this video was produced, the entire drive train has been replaced with rebuilt components, including a new electronically controlled 6L71 TA (turbocharged/after cooled) engine with Jake brake, cruise control and all the modern features. 47busguy
Outstanding job on the resto/conversion. Not sure how that interior would stand up to the weekend outdoor warrior but still an awesome piece of machinery. Kind regards, Eric Dee
that my friend is a thing of beauty could that be used in period movies dateing back to the 40s or are they ordered by clients for there own needs the workmanship is out of this world very detailed l enjoyed the video very much
Yeah. The only thing that I would have changed would have been to hide the flat screen TV behind a panel. That way they could have kept the 1940's look.
While the restoration of that coach is superb repowering it with an electronic engine if that was mine it would retain the original 6-71 Detroit Diesel. A beautiful restoration like this coach has gone through doesn't need a new engine. A rebuilt 6-71 with jake brakes would be just fine albeit a little slow climbing mountain passes. In order to repower with a new engine you'd need a new rear end in order to handle the higher power from the new engine. Better to stick with an original power train.
very amazing, and gorgeous to look at, I only wish there was a range and oven included. The microwave is useful but it seems more like a day runner than a proper long cruiser.
unbelievable attention to detail! serious skills. come on, I know you probably wanna stick to original, but you gotta update to Alcoa wheels! I love these older Greyhound buses... I personally wouldn't like this older type to be chosen, but just fucken impressive work!👍
I would so rather have this coach, any day, than a new motorhome. Imagine if a company made these coaches today, in the retro style, I'm sure there would be a market for them.
Who do you have do your engine work? I live in Astoria Oregon and have a 1960 4104 that needs a repower. Beautiful work by the way, that coach is something special.
Concerning the comments about the microwave convection oven; you can cook nearly anything in a convection that you can in a regular oven. For cooktops, portable induction units are used that take far less energy. Also use portable BBQ. All bases are covered. This is a camper, not a full time live aboard.
As beautiful as this project is, I would quibble with the use of the term "restoration". Precious little of the interior is as it was originally, save for the steering wheel. Rather, it is a high grade "conversion". Also, I would have to concur with the poster who mentioned that the Art Deco motif is not chronologically accurate with the period, however attractive it may be. My late father drove for Greyhound from 1947 thru 1977, and this model "Jimmy" was among the first he drove. Their interior appointments were, shall we say, Spartan! I still have his Pacific Greyhound Lines cap/badge, identical to the one shown in the video. Certainly, the fate of this Silverside is to be preferred over the alternative of it languishing, before being sent to the junkyard! Thanks for the memories!
This is a serious damn video of a bus being turned into an RV I've ever seen you don't show the closet switch the closets you did show or nothing but little knickknack shelves
What? No LP range? That microwave would get left at the curb. Some junk food family won the lottery on that one. What a waste with those bunks. 1947 was a more simple period after the war, and art deco was from the 30's, so the styling is somewhat out of synch. But who would expect lottery winners to know that?
one critique is the fridge.... It would have been nicer if you fitted the bus with a more vintage looking fridge. The modern fridge sticks out like a sore thumb amidst that beautiful trim.
This icon of world public transport, in my opinion is the most beautiful Coach ever made!
You guys are truly artists down to the smallest details.
Simply magnificent! I commend you on your outstanding craftsmanship and devotion to detail. Amazing!
this is probably the most beautiful buss i have seen.

Who wouldn't choose this beautiful coach over a PreVost

I have to say of any rv conversion that I have seen, this is the most complete, keeping a look fitting for classic silverside. Good job
That is the most classy and tastefully done coach I have seen. You have just set the bar higher
Freaking phenomenal piece of work you guys did with that. Beautiful.
That is a work of art.

This bus should be on the show Extreme RV's. A rolling work of art.
Wow, just so well done!
the outside of it is breathless what an amazing job!

This is very impressive work.
Absolutely beautiful!!!!
Beautiful!!!!!!!! I suppose it you were buying one you could have the back bedroom configured with a double bed ect and get rid of the bunks John

Sweet looking bus. I've never seen one in person.
Beautiful!!
truly a piece of art, nicely done
AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL !!! Just an unbelievable job folks !! I wonder who bought this and what it costs

One word, awesome!!!
That's beautiful
Piękny . Serdecznie pozdrawiam .

cant believe your giving this away to one lucky winner me!!!!
Beautiful.
This is an unbelievable conversion, and I must ask. How much $$$$ ?
It's absolutely beautiful, but is the microwave oven the only cooking tool available?
Now that's how to go on a bus trip!
VERY impressiv !
Speechless
Cool! Very Cool!

Now I'm in love.
beautiful
Stunning conversion but the end sofa room looks a bit unresolved design wise ? odd they didn't want a better use of space here
I wonder how much this will cost?
really well done. I'll take one how much?

Why just a microwave? Why not a stove top?
I want one! lol

fucking awesome!
i would prefer a real bed instead of a pull out couch
+yardsausage They would have to 86 the children for that.
@@gdcat777 sounds like a plan!
I'll take two how much.
Who cares if its not period correct on the interior. I'd do the interior the same way. Beautiful bus!!
Can I have it???
Pretty hot
looks expensive
It is smoking. They need to get some fuel conditioner.
Wow, to use the word incredible does not do it any justice.
Keep the Detroit Diesel

Its a beautiful bus

+gdcat777 Why are the bunks a waste? Are the kids supposed to sleep on the roof lol
toscodav
Let me see here, uh, nope, no kids. However, the bunks would make a nice dog or cat space instead.
gdcat777
The guy that owns this bus has 4 kids he wants to travel with.
+toscodav
I'm thinking from my perspective, not his.
@@gdcat777 Grandkids would get a kick out of this bus.
