This is probably my favorite interpretation of skull island, cuz it’s packed with so much lore, detail and creatures that it makes skull island feel like a real place. The island has this otherworldly, creepy vibe to it that makes it so unique amongst the other skull islands we had before and since. I especially love the creatures and how terrifying and how inaccurate they are to science, my favorites are the V. rex, the Piranhadon, the Worm creatures and the Venatosaurus. One last thing: the art book is an awesome addition too, since it greatly expands on the island and includes way more creatures than the ones we saw in the movie, I hope they do the same thing for the monsterverse with GvK.
Wouldn’t say inaccurate. There is a ton of explanation of why they look like they do. Considering they’re dinosaurs that continued to evolve for 65 million years they are pretty plausible and not that far fetched.
Yeah I do prefer this skull island to the monsterverse mainly because actually have dinosaurs it’s just kinda something that’s should always be part of a Kong movie
Also, according to the official field guide, the 2005 remake's Skull Island literally sank when the crew visited it for the second time. And apparently, because there are too many predators on the island compared to prey, the island's ecosystem is dying even before human intervention, and the sinking of the island finally sealed their fates.
I agree, Peter Jackson's Skull island had actual monsters that were the stuff of Nightmares, Kong Skull island was cool but aside from a the skull crawlers and the mother long legs the creatures really didn't come off as terrifying or vicious
I feel like it’s the opposite but in a good way (except the terrifying part). The 2017 version feels more like an island of monsters instead of actual creatures unlike the 2005 version that feels like an actual ecosystem.
This island feels so much more lived in and densely populated with creatures than the 2017 one. While I do like the 2017 Kong, it’s funny that Skull Island had so much more character and depth in the film that didn’t have Skull Island in the name. There’s like... ten different animals we see in Kong: Skull Island. There’s like ten different animals we just see in the background in single scenes in the 05 King Kong.
Yeah. I think a good idea would have been to, in a nutshell, simply reuse the skull island from the 2005 film, but simply add in the 2017 version of King Kong.
It serves as a testament to Kong's strength, intelligence, and fighting prowess that he manages to stay alive with all these mean mothers sharing his home island.

Not empty, the monster verse one merely showed a smaller portion of the Island because it was an hour and a half shorter and not enough people to kill off. There are hundreds of possibilities of Skull Island Monsters. Parrots, Monitor Lizards, Tortoises, Sea Snakes, the Monsterverse version of the Spider Pit, the possibility of seeing the Bride of Kong and her Son, Large Mosquitoes and Leeches, not to mention any of a large number of crustaceans, insects, arachnids, and myriapods. Add in dinosaurs, aquatic predators such as Mososaurs and Plesiodonts, and pteranodons of various species, plus random monsters based on tropic and subtropic locales and you have a few hundred possibilities, not including Toho's dozens of Kaiju which could show up. The Giant Praying Mantis, Kamacuras, Kumonga, and Meganula would be appropriate for Skull Island.

The creatures explored in this video actually represent only a small fraction of all if the magnificent animals on Peter Jackson’s skull island, there’s a rare book that details every single creature living on the island, and there are more than 100. Each creature lives in a certain area of skull island, i.e. the crumbling coast, the shrinking lowlands, the winding swamps and waterways, the steaming jungle, the abyssal chasms, and the barren uplands
I personally love both versions of Skull Island, from the 2005 version and the 2017 version. The 2005 version you can tell they went for a more "realistic" look with a lot of the dinosaurs based off of those from the original 1933 film. However, they evolved the designs to match those of an isolated ecosystem and created plenty of new designs like the bugs and worms. Plus there's so much lore and background for the island and the creatures, it's astounding. Even if the monsters in the 2017 version aren't necessarily realistic, they really fit in with the tone set by the larger Monsterverse. They've already established that the Titans came from a completely separate ecosystem from before humanity and before the dinosaurs, and Skull Island to me reflects a series of creatures from a completely prehistoric era that predates everything we've ever know. Plus a lot of the creatures seem to have animal and plant characteristics, similarly suggesting the creatures "evolved" after years isolated in this one environment. The 2005 movie insects are so terrifying. I remember watching it a while back and I could never stop thinking about what happened to the people who were dragged into the holes in the abyss
Same here. After I saw it for the first time when I was young, I had nightmares for a few nights because of those damn Carnictus worms. After watching this video, looking back on it now, I still F****** Hate those creepy crawlies the most from the movie!!! 💯🤬🤬🤬🤬
I'd really love a movie around Jackson's Skull Island, it's way more realistic than that of monsterverse and feels like an actual historical ecosystem.
It would add a depth of horror to Skull Island if they did, imagine a group of scientists stranded on the island building a canoe only to have the Piranhadon attack them, and while the Piranhadon is eating part of the people in the water the Mire Squid eats the Piranhadon. Then imagine the Mother Longlegs, Spore Mantis, and Skull Crawlers added into the infamous Spider Pit Scene!
When the trailer came out, I thought it was going to be the same Skull Island as 2005's Kong. I was pretty hopeful to see Vietnam-era soldiers fight the monsters on that island, they were better prepared to defend themselves.
when this video was uplouded in night Me:Ok it mite be new monsters in skull island. aslo ME:I finnshed the whole and boi I should not sached the video in night now iam going to have nightmares.
Technically it's not, because this film got launched in 2005, and I don't think it even existed, considering that the first film "Godzilla" got launched in 2014
this is why I prefer this version of Skull Island the realism put behind the lore of these beasts, makes the island more believable that it could exist.
Fun fact: the megapede is actually a real thing and lived about 160 million years ago. It is actually called arthropleura and could grow up to 6 feet in length but were much wider, flatter, and more armored, truly horrifying.
xeno drone i heard of a few people that had to go to therapy after watching that scene and loads of people had a phobia of bugs, my brother and I didn’t sleep for 5 days straight. That scene was pure genius.
This entire video is why 2005 Kong will forever be my favorite adaptation. There is just layers of lore, also the creatures (while super alien), also wouldn't be super out of place in a prehistoric era
But imagine what would happen if you combined the two into one single island that contained all the creatures from both movies that island would be actual hell on earth and would be a true test of survival in which living on or even just visiting the island and being able to survive would be a god damn miracle
13:08 I think the carnictus sordicus was based on the bloodworm. Since bloodworms shoot out there teeth and guts to chew up they’re prey Also my favorite monster on this list is the arachno claw
dude, every 90/early 2000's kid knows exactly what insane anxiety this scene was causing when we watched it as a kid, and this dude got swallowed by those worms...alive this scene was so freaking disturbing, and in its own way awesome because music etc. just was absolute perfect to transmit what this scene should feel like
God, 11:07 gave me ptsd like flashbacks to the first V-Rex level in the King Kong game. Fucker was a guarenteed one shot, was bullet proof, and you could only distract it by feeding it, but it all fits the reality of 2005 Kong and i loved it.
I love Peter Jackson's King Kong I still watch it sometimes well there's more monsters you kind of Forgotten King Kong I well find a novelization and some art book and the King Kong video game just worth mentioning
The inclusion of Flood music from Halo during the Chasm segment is perfectly fitting. That pit used to scare the hell out of me when I was a kid and I think it helped contribute to my essentially paralyzing fear of centipedes, specifically house centipedes. Not really sure why it's house centipedes, I've been scared of them for a long time, but when I was like 18 I woke up to one at 3 AM crawling down my arm and it was legitimately the largest house centipede I've ever seen, ya boi didn't sleep the rest of the night after I killed it so I'm sure that didn't help assuage my fears I guess
The only one that I can think of that would be even better would be one that was a combination of this one and the one from the 2017 movie an island that had all the creatures from both movies can you imagine just how terrifying that island would be
My little sister was in the room while i was watching this. Now congrats, you made her cry and run to her room lol Of course this was to be expected, I didnt know she was in the room. Just heard her crying and running up stairs all a sudden
one reason i liked this more than the newer adaptations, is the natives of the island. One thing they did so well was make them so mysterious. In the behind the scenes they explained on some of the natives you can see older clothing from mixed periods, as to show the fates of those have previously stumbled upon this island.. so fucking awesome

You forgot everyone's favorite creature. The moa bird.
LT T. I noticed it wasn’t on the list
It didn’t really have much of a presence so I had to cut it for timing.

@@NlRATAP me too
It's name is Brutornis
@Issac Omar Khan this is a part 2
I’m Coyote Peterson, and I’m about to enter the strike zone of a Skull Island Carnictis!
If he did that, it would be his last ever video!
This is giving me the creeps
What if 2008 skull island was merged with 2017 skull island?
That would be hell on earth
It would add a depth of horror to Skull Island if they did, imagine a group of scientists stranded on the island building a canoe only to have the Piranhadon attack them, and while the Piranhadon is eating part of the people in the water the Mire Squid eats the Piranhadon. Then imagine the Mother Longlegs, Spore Mantis, and Skull Crawlers added into the infamous Spider Pit Scene!
@@collinbeckham8259 bro fuck that I'd commit suicide
When the trailer came out, I thought it was going to be the same Skull Island as 2005's Kong. I was pretty hopeful to see Vietnam-era soldiers fight the monsters on that island, they were better prepared to defend themselves.
11:00 "Ran into something much much worse" LMAO I'd rather run from a vastatosaurus rex than deal with megapedes😂
when this video was uplouded in night
Me:Ok it mite be new monsters in skull island.
aslo ME:I finnshed the whole and boi I should not sached the video in night now iam going to have nightmares.
wait a non monster-verse video
WOW
uhm its a monster verse video???
k
VisualCloak nope it’s not
Technically it's not, because this film got launched in 2005, and I don't think it even existed, considering that the first film "Godzilla" got launched in 2014
@@electricalraptor8942 king kong is part of the monsterverse
I like how Halo 3 music was used as the background music. Beautiful.
this is why I prefer this version of Skull Island the realism put behind the lore of these beasts, makes the island more believable that it could exist.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR MONTHS FOR THIS
my favourite king kong movie and I think i actually cried and I still feel like crying for kong
imagine king kong 2005 fought the small skull crawler from kong skull island 2017 now that would be an epic fight
Wanna be YT friends
My favorite is Vastatosaurus rex
Same
Me too
Same
It would be awesome if we see the vastatosaurus rex in a jurassic park movie
I call it Simply , V-Rex .
Imagine getting your guts ripped out by a group of those worm things!! Jesus Christ!! It'll hurt like hell.
I'd be more embarrassed by the fact that it just got eaten by a giant living penis with teeth
I don’t think you’d be alive to much longer to feel the pain
@@y0kian lmao
When ur so early you look at the comments first
Really well edited video. The clips kept focus on the specific creature it was talking about in that certain moment which I appreciated. Well done
Fun fact: the megapede is actually a real thing and lived about 160 million years ago. It is actually called arthropleura and could grow up to 6 feet in length but were much wider, flatter, and more armored, truly horrifying.
Kong was 45? I thought he was over 150 according to Jackson.
I wonder how big the exploration team was, I always feel like there died more people than the team had
I can imagine how terrified little children watching this will be

The Walking With Dinosaurs soundtrack playing in the background is surprisingly fitting...
god thoses carnictis things gave me so many nightmares
@JapaneseGiant Lizard1234 same
xeno drone i heard of a few people that had to go to therapy after watching that scene and loads of people had a phobia of bugs, my brother and I didn’t sleep for 5 days straight. That scene was pure genius.
Still can’t watch that scene in one go. It just so gross.
I remember having nightmares about that scene for MONTHS as a kid
Strange I was just watching this yesterday.🤔
The worm still makes my skin crawl every time I watch that scene
This entire video is why 2005 Kong will forever be my favorite adaptation. There is just layers of lore, also the creatures (while super alien), also wouldn't be super out of place in a prehistoric era
Everything on the island is trying to eat you. Exactly like how it would be during the time of the dinosaur.
Australia.
2005 skull island is a spooky ancient island while 2017 skull island is a bunch of nba youngboy fans on a rock
But imagine what would happen if you combined the two into one single island that contained all the creatures from both movies that island would be actual hell on earth and would be a true test of survival in which living on or even just visiting the island and being able to survive would be a god damn miracle
"All of the horrifying beasts" .. *sees puppy* xD
Probobly the piranadon. but its habitat is a bit of because it could do really well and grow bigger in the sea
Dont give it any ideas
Eh not really, it can be bigger yes but can it survive the difference between salt and sea water? Probably no
@@magniwalterbutnotwaltermag1479 it can stay on land, so maybe it can breathe like an eel. Salt water would not be such a problem maybe
13:08 I think the carnictus sordicus was based on the bloodworm. Since bloodworms shoot out there teeth and guts to chew up they’re prey
Also my favorite monster on this list is the arachno claw
dude, every 90/early 2000's kid knows exactly what insane anxiety this scene was causing when we watched it as a kid, and this dude got swallowed by those worms...alive
this scene was so freaking disturbing, and in its own way awesome because music etc. just was absolute perfect to transmit what this scene should feel like
God, 11:07 gave me ptsd like flashbacks to the first V-Rex level in the King Kong game. Fucker was a guarenteed one shot, was bullet proof, and you could only distract it by feeding it, but it all fits the reality of 2005 Kong and i loved it.
Imagine tons of Kong in that island. Thank god he's the last one, but still sad that he's dead
Thanks for acknowledging All of the Species in the movie!
Man the King Kong game soundtrack is hitting my childhood I should re play the game again
Digital Soldier XP such a good game
After watching this movie, I believe that human beings are the most dangerous and worst creatures.
Damn, those creature effects by Weta, Peter Jackson's effects studio, still look good 15 years on. Might have to dig out the *"King Kong"* DVD again.
It makes me happy that you use some of the Halo music for the Flood with the Cavern area.
The best version of Skull Island period.
It's not skull island
tech_shield69 How so?
Agreed although I love the skull crawlers
The only one that I can think of that would be even better would be one that was a combination of this one and the one from the 2017 movie an island that had all the creatures from both movies can you imagine just how terrifying that island would be
Vastatosaurus and foetodon are my personal favs
My little sister was in the room while i was watching this. Now congrats, you made her cry and run to her room lol Of course this was to be expected, I didnt know she was in the room. Just heard her crying and running up stairs all a sudden
Mission Accomplished.
@@DangerVille You did your mission well, soldier. Now I shall award you with a sub
This one is such a fire movie and so underrated ! That bug scene is just wow
The Carnictis are SUPER FREAKY😬
Nice video, though👍🏻

Gotta love how he used The Flood theme from Halo to add to the suspense cause anyone who knows what The Flood is surely knows how creepy they are.

1:17 lol King Kong isn't 45 years old, he's over 100+ years old!
"Welcome to the Abyssal Cavern!"
thanks, I'd rather be torn apart by King Kong.
I really love v rex but I don't like giant bugs.
I haven't watched Kong in years, but it feels like the footage being shown from a different movie. XD
Falling into that hole of bugs is gonna make me cry
one reason i liked this more than the newer adaptations, is the natives of the island. One thing they did so well was make them so mysterious. In the behind the scenes they explained on some of the natives you can see older clothing from mixed periods, as to show the fates of those have previously stumbled upon this island.. so fucking awesome
