I feel like the skull crawlers were a perfect animal to put so we could see there’s an animal who rivals a kong which was bad ass but if they had the same animals and atmosphere and same structure , that would of been a 10/10 movie
I have to say of the 1933, 2005 and 2017 Skull Island versions, the 2005 has by far the best world building and feels the most like a real, fleshed out place.
@@DangerVille I agree. I was particularly impressed by the sheer level of detail they put into Skull Island for the 2005 version in the book, The World of Kong A Natural History of Skull Island.
There are a few that you missed: 1. Triceratops- Before crossing the log bridge, Kong was to do battle with 3 Triceratops. The scene was cut during production. 2. Arsinoitherium- A two-horned mammal that would’ve stood on the oppisite side of the log bridge preventing Jack and the sailors from escaping Kong. The scene was reshot with the Styracosaurus, which was also cut from the film. 3. Scavenger raven (the name Wikizilla provides)- The big bird that was briefly seen pecking the T-Rex’s carcass. Granted, it was only a few seconds, so I can understand if you didn’t think it worth mentioning.
And a few other creatures from the spider pit sequence that were not shown in the Jackson recreation. Also some smaller pterosaurs from the 1933 sequel. And the obscure snake like reptile Called gigantophis which is only seen in a still photo we’re the meat eater is about to attack near then trees before king fights the tripodal carnivorous dinosaur. The photo is shown on king king wiki
It's actually cool how the Monsterverse have somewhat taken inspiration from this movie with both the Skull Crawler receiving an upgrade to main villain, as well as the Elasmosaurus fight being the precursor to his battle with the Warbats.
@@grandadmiralzaarin4962 couldn't agree more. 2005 and 1933 feel like real islands with real ecology. 2017 may as well have been set in a battle arena. Just a place to dump a bunch of monsters and watch them fight
Modern big herbivores do have a tendency to be skittish, territorial, aggressive, and belligerent at times. Also, fun fact, many herbivores will opportunistically eat meat for the easy calories and minerals. Calcium and salt in particular are often lacking in plants. So yeah, "peaceful" isn't a word animals like hippos, hooved animals, and elephants are always familiar with.
Yeah if you were to list the 5 most dangerous land animals (Saltwater crocodile, Polar bear, Hippo, African Elephant and Rhinoceros), three of them are strict herbivores. Please note that the ones I listed there excludes humans (obviously) and disease carrying ones such as mosquitoes.
I want a game that takes place on skull island which has multiple monsters from different movies. I imagine it like this: It'd be kinda like that predator game where you must go arojd the island completing different missions whild avoiding the fuana in that area. For example: collecting DNA smaples from Kong's parents while avoiding the detection of skull crawlers
Though some people speculated that the "dragon" was a Nothosaurus or a Protorosaurus; and the Skullcrawler precursor was meant to be either an Aetosaur or a Desmatosuchus.
Really awesome! The original 1933 King Kong is my favorite version of skull island, really awesome and unique dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures like the carnivorous sauropodomorph or dragon dinosaur from son of Kong, and the meat eater tripod an armored carnivorous dinosaur, the pit spiders, crabs, beetle larva, snakes, and lizards, to name a few. Hoping to see what dinosaurs will be in Disney’s King Kong live action to show based on joe devitos book, will be cool to see another skull island like the original and the 2005 remake.
Oh Peter Jackson. The scene he made with the herd of brontos tumbling down the ravine or w/e had my one friend laughing so hard she couldn't breathe. She damn near passed out from laughing so hard that she hyperventilated lol.
you should make a follow-up to this one about the Skull Island critters that were in the script but never made the final cut. i seem to remember that there was a herd of triceratops that lived on some volcanic plains, for example.
Pretty sure it was bullets that killed the beast lol I love that in pretty much every continuity, literally everything on Skull Island is trying to kill you. You barely have a chance to catch your breath in some versions.
13:50 I feel like this is one old trend that should have stuck around, while a brontosaurus eating several people is unrealistic I feel like things have swung too far in the other direction, stuff like a 10 ton edmontosaurus being knocked down and killed in 1 hit by a proceratosaurus that probably weighs less than a leopard is ridiculous
kinda impressive people were able to make a movie like king kong the way they did with such detail back then...seeing how much the 2005 movie pulled from it? is actually kinda amazing at how extensive they were...like it makes sense a movie could be like that in 2005...not so much when movies were black and white and the best they could do for monsters was stop motion clay toys
The quadrupeds being violent reminds me of the story of the Mokele-mbembe in the congo. Witnesses say they would kill any one who stepped into the lake or near their lair, but would not eat them. The men would turn back instead of risking themselves to retrieve the bodies of their comrades. Apparently, they were very fast in the water, at least faster than they could row.
I'm sadden though that Kong's son Kiko dies by drowning, which is even a worse way to die than by planes atop of the largest and tallest building. Hopefully in the remake the young lad will still keep his name. Kiko I'd say is my favorite, but it's down-right sad that he dies from drowning along with the island :'(
I always thought the creature that came out of the water when the island is sinking was the Brontosaurus from the first movie and not the Cetiosaurus that we saw minutes before. Especially since it has the same roar as the Bronto
Did anyone else we consider how the Brontosaurus depiction in this version of King Kong may have been inspiration for Shrek I mean both of them were large creatures that are highly territorial of their swamps and does anyone else seated the resemblance here
Nice video, very fitting for this year to look at the creatures of the Original King Kong. I liked the Cetiosaurus from Son of Kong. Also, the movie really paved the way of many things relating to cinema and science fiction. 🙂👍👑🦍

Let me guess, you haven't watched any real anime? There are more out there than the typical Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and such. Not bashing those anime. I love them. I'm just saying when we get people who say they don't like anime. They're biased and judge by only the most talked about. Demon Slayer is great, so is Hellsing Ultimate, Full Metal Alchemist and the remake Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Parasite, and Deadman Wonderland are just another few good mentions. But I do agree, singular point was utter trash! Seriously, how do you screw up twice with Godzilla?! I mean Jesus...

Disagree with that one part. Kong didn't inspire Godzilla... Kong indpired our monster movie franchise. Godzilla was inspired by the atomic bombs dropped on Japan. They wanted to do a metaphor. Which is why it was one of the only serious Godzilla movies. You give Kong way too much credit at times and it gets annoying. Especially when you claim Gamera is better than Godzilla... And yet, who's still remembered after all theses years? I love the giant turtle. But I don't lie who's clearly more better and more popular. Only Gamera Heisei Era is the ONLY good part of Gamera. That's it and maybe his B/W original film. The whole he's friends to all children was so freaking stupid! It is what rightfully killed him. They did him right in Heisei era though. Darker tone was the way to go. Screw the child friendly crap. Just lazy story telling in those. Now if we can get Godzilla Heisei Era again, but with Heisei Era Gamera budget. We would be in perfection!
It’s a well known fact that TOHO wanted their own “King Kong” after the film became so popular in Japan. It’s no coincidence they had them fight in Godzilla’s third film. Also I don’t believe we’ve ever said Gamera is better than Godzilla? Although those Heisei films are some of the best Kaiju films period.
