    Meanwhile in Worcester it’s “have you ever been to a usually quiet rail yard and forced to get off your train there”😭

    Hey, I think you should make a full video about railfanning. You have made one before, but you should make one again, like how to catch Special trains, when to know when the Readville switcher will depart, and etc.

    great vid! you should do one on the MBB coaches sometime, I’d love to learn more about them since they seem to be getting rare. i live on the south side and I don’t think I’ve seen one down here in quite some time

    Interesting video! Do any of the trains return to Boston to spend the night? I am asking because I was getting my car at Woburn/Anderson a few weeks ago around 1245am, and a commuter rail train passed through without stopping heading southbound (inbound). I suppose they could have been the last train running really late, but they didn't stop.

    The contractor company i work for railworks did rail for mass coastal back in 2020 and i remember seeing these go by on the adjacent tracks and man they were flying we always had to stop and watch for them cause of the speed they were going it was a great time though we went across the cape cod canal bridge all the way down to Falmouth and btw derails are for safety they are used incase any machines or trains not supposed to be on that track doesn't slam into whats parked on there if you noticed the angle on the top is always pointing outward and you have to dig a hole in the ballast and put the points against a tie so it digs in and doesn't move and believe me ive seen our equipment accidentally hit a derail that wasn't down and they work but they must be thrown away after as per FRA rules

    Do the engineers live near Rockport or do they live close to Boston?

    • @BostonByRails
      @BostonByRails  Год назад +3

      They live literally anywhere, which is pretty wild if you think about their morning commutes. Say one lives in New Hampshire (where I know multiple live), and has to drive 1.5 hours to rockport at like 5am, get the morning shift they were assigned to, and then go back in the afternoon. Railroad work certainly takes some commitments!

    This was nice, definitely not like in Thomas with the sheds. But now I have to ask, what do the crews do? I know they don't have cabins on the train, because I use the Stoughton and Middlebough lines myself. So do these crews start the day at Rockport, and finish the day there, and go sleep in their own beds in Rockport, or have secret air mattresses on the trains the public don't know about, or company cars at layover stations to drive home 40 minutes away?
