Great tip! I just went to buy my first alcohol ink supplies and something made me check RUclips for how to make them myself. This video and others show me how! Can’t wait to make my own inks and blending solution.
How exciting to hear that you are launching out with using Alcohol Ink! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks for viewing my video(s). Have a good day. Susie
Thank you so much!! I had heard this and made some long ago, but hadn't written down what I did so this is perfect!!!! It works so great and I definitely can't afford the more expensive one :) I also had these other little plastic bottles with those needle nose things...clearly I'm not versed in it😳😊 but I mix this in the largest of those and it works great. But I'm SO thankful for this ratio again!! Thank you!!!
Hm... I have just watched the Tim Holtz videos on these inks and mediums and stuff. He said that the blending solution is literally what is in the alcohol inks, minus pigment. And that it contains resin that makes it all shinier. That resin should also bind alloy in the image, so it won't smudge. Does this also lock in the alloy?
Carolyn, yes, this formula works well. Some prefer to purchase and use the real Alcohol Blending Solution. However, this formula is a simply an inexpensive option for those who are considering their budget. :) Thanks for viewing the video.
not sure if you guys cares but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last few weeks xD
Hello, I did a little searching and found this link which might provide you with some locations to purchase Isopropyl Alcohol in New Zealand. www.finder.com/nz/buy-rubbing-alcohol-online
I love your presentation and especially helping us all save money. Then we can buy more ink. I have one question though what aisle is the vegetable glycerin on? I don’t think I’ve even seen it before but then I’ve never been looking for it thank you for your great video
Suggestion: if you shop on line i.e., @ your grocery store. You can search where products are located in that store. The search will tell you where in this case the vegetable glycerin is located. Now you can order it or know in the store where to go get it. Happy shopping.
I found it in the skin care section at walgreens. In addition to using it for this, you can also use it to take off your makeup, wash your face, throw it in lotion, it's very good for your skin extremely softening.
Thank you for this information. I will definitely try it. I have a question though, I have some Rangers Tim Holts alcohol ink that I have not used in a few years. It seems to have dried up. Can I use a little of this solution to rehydrate the alcohol ink?
Hello! Personally, I've only purchased and used Vegetable Glycerin. If you locate another type of Glycerin, perhaps you could give it a try and see if you are happy with the results. I imagine it would work, but not sure. Have a good day! Susie
I'm not sure about this. I've only used Isopropyl. Sorry to not be much help...perhaps you could do a bit of research on the matter. Thanks for viewing my video. Have a good day. Susie

I've never tried this, but I don't believe it would work...perhaps you could try it in one of your copic markers/refills. Would love to hear about the results. Thanks for watching the video! Susie
I've never tried using coconut oil, but give it a try and see if you like it. I believe the glycerin is your best option. Thanks for your comment. Susie
hi susie, I tried 91% but there are some residues and water bubbles compared to 99%. However, in my city, 99% is at least 2 times more expensive and I have to pay $25 for shipping too. So, may I know if adding glycerin can fix the problem ? if yes, I will go for 91% coz it's much cheaper and accessible. thanks for your help! 🤓
@@SusieShanlian thanks a lot! I look forward to your feedback! I’ve suspended my painting for almost a month before and after relocating in this city just becoz of the costly alcohol. Feeling something is missing without my favourite pastime.
hi susie, I have a few questions. I usually get bottles in litre. So if 1L =33.8 ounce , does it mean I add vegetable glycerin according to the proportion: 3 drops for 1 ounce? Thanks l!
I appreciate Kathy D responding to your questions and she is correct. Let me know if you tried to make some of the blending solution with the supplies you have. Susie
Hello Ana, I'm not sure if it's the same. I'm thinking it is at least very similar, and probably would work. Perhaps you could try a small amount to see if you get the results you desire. Have a good day!
I've not tried it with 99% alcohol, but I recommend trying it the same say as described on the video with 91% alcohol. Give it a go, and let me know the results. :)

That comment was for Linda McDermott!

So very helpful!!

Can you add it to white blanco blanco mixatives without clumping?

@Praveen Kumar 3 drops of. Veg glycerine to a bottle of alcohol she had the 2 oz size.

The ratio of glycerol and isopropyl alcohol is mentioned in the video based on the number of ounces in the blending solution 2 oz bottle. Enjoy!
