    Hi I found a recipe that looks like it works. I haven't tried it yet. 2 oz. of 91% alcohol, and 3 to 5 drops of pure glycerin.

    This specific "blending solution" would not work if you were to try using it on copic or alcohol marker blending. Here are the 3 main ingredients for copic or alcohol blending solutions.
    2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons GLYCERIN (Walmart,,Walgreens, pharmacy)
    5 tablespoons DISTILLED water
    1 teaspoon ETHYL rubbing alcohol ( I get mine at Walgreens.)
    After you fill your pens, or aqua brushes (BTW once you put this in your water/aqua brush, don't use it for anything else, not even water.), store the rest in a bottle.
    Your welcome :-)

    what you are all missing is that she used ETHYL alcohol instead of ISOPROPYL rubbing alcohol - the ethyl is harder to find and sometimes you have to ask for it.

    Hey guys use ethanol! Seriously I've been experimenting with lots of different things and ethanol is a better blender than the ranger blending solution it's more like the pinata claro extender. Or remember to add antifreeze full strength to the isopropyl if you want it to mix better and can't get ethanol. %5 antifreeze to isopropyl. Good luck peeps

    So, blending solution is basically just rubbing alcohol? Wow, that Tim Holtz is really ripping people off. He's a genius!! Really, just rubbing alcohol? Thanks for saving me the money for the packaging and label!! Just want to make sure that it's simply just rubbing alcohol. Wow!!

    • @karenkelleher989
      @karenkelleher989 8 лет назад +5

      no, she's wrong, Jualiana. It's not just alcohol when you buy Tim Holtz's Blending solution. His has ethyl alcohol glycerin. I do use just plain alcohol when I do my ink art, BUT I use the blending solution to make the colors flow, and then alcohol to add a sort of "texture to it in a mist pray bottle, or use my fingers and do larger drops or splatters.

      Thanks for letting me know Karen. I wonder if you can simply buy the EAG yourself and it might be cheaper. It's funny you respond to this now since I posted 2 years ago, and ironically, I have been using my handmade alcohol inks a lot recently. Thanks!!

      You can give it go if you have the ingredients. The only drawback is not having the same (or close to) measurements of each liquid, you know, like a recipe... I attempted this once with a pet odor remover. it worked okay, but not as good as the original. I have all the stuff on hand, so let me know if you figure it out before I do!

      RANGER pays for his name. Unfortunately, due to the company not belonging to Tim Holtz and probably the stipulations of his contract, the final decisions are more than likely made by a board of directors whether he fully agrees or not. They put up the $...they do the advertising...he is just an employee with fringe benefits and a flowing!

    I think I'm missing something or this video is missing something. If you use just alcohol it reacts totally different from the blending solution. It is stronger and lightens the inks more. I read somewhere about making blending solution by adding glycerine to the alcohol. This makes sense because the blending solution is thicker than alcohol. I just can't seem to find the formula anywhere. Does anyone know the ratio of glycerine to alcohol? Thanks.

      Good on you Dawn.. Well said. Ungrateful bunch with a pack mentality. You would have to have a hide like a Rhinoceros to even think about posting videos, which I might add are there to help people in their creative journey. Its OK to offer advice but do you think you could all remember that you are talking to another person....And no I don't know the maker of this video but geez some of you act so immature. Be grateful and not so rude.

    • @Ketutar
      @Ketutar 6 лет назад +6

      Hi, Dawn,
      Of course it would be nice if people were nice, but there's some things here you don't seem to have realized.
      RUclips is full of videos of people giving us information for free. But just because we don't pay anything, doesn't mean they are giving it for free... you see, there are people who earn a living by making RUclips videos. The more viewers and subscribers you have, the more you benefit for making videos. We, the viewers, vote by watching videos, on how these benefits are being divided.
      Now, I chose to give my view to The Paper Boutique, and she isn't giving me the information I need. She promised me the information, and then she wasted 7 minutes of my time giving me nothing worth anything to me. Now, 7 minutes might seem like nothing, but in RUclips time it's a lot. It's twice the time average viewers give to videos on RUclips.
      And because I chose her video, someone else "giving information for free" isn't getting my view, and this someone else could have given me what I need, and thus deserved my view better. Which means that The Paper Boutique stole this other person's views and consequential benefits, by lying to me, by promising what she did not keep, by deceiving me to believe she is a serious RUclipsr by putting the information in nice package... I feel cheated. I feel lied to. I don't feel being nice about it. (Well, teaches me to read the comments and see how many "don't like"s the video has received before watching... and that means that I'm grateful to the honest, sincere people telling their opinion openly without sugarcoating it trying to be "nice".)
      Now, when you sell things and services and information, you NEED the feedback, and the negative feedback even more than the positive. Critique is ESSENTIAL to you. Without it you won't know what you could improve. It doesn't matter how this information is wrapped, mature, intelligent people will get over the "not polite" and get to the core of the information, take what is useful and discard the rest.
      NOW, DO YOU THINK THE PAPER BOUTIQUE WILL THANK YOU FOR TELLING HER VIEWERS TO NOT WATCH HER AGAIN? :-D

But why do you call it solution when all you used was straight rubbing alcohol, its been used to clean up paints etc forever, nothing new. And of course it will blend, its alcohol like the paints are made from.

      It´s another alcohol . The cemical formula of Ethanol is C2H5OH and (Iso-)Propanol is C3H7OH. You can drink Ethanol if it is supraclean, but not the isopropylalcohol. Iso is for cleaning and desinfection.

      Dawn Gaye Rubbing alcohol has an oil in it....Isopropyl has water in it. The percentages tell you mow much or little. There are things you cannot use the other on...for example you only use a high percentage Isopropyl to clean film negatives to get finger prints off - rubbing or a lower percentage could ruin the negatives. And rubbing alcohol would leave a film, equally bad in my example. But...it might just help in blending... FWIW
