Saw and heard this wonderful , swinging, funky band in Athens, Greece, probably on the same European tour the same year. The venue was a large packed theatre. The concert was slightly delayed waiting for George Adams to turn up! Eventually, he came rushing through the theatre and leapt onto the stage armed with his saxophone case. The band then proceeded to raise the roof beams high and rock the joint. Loved Don Pullen's playing. Such a versatile and orignal player. What a band! Live they were explosive.

Pullen & Adams, el mejor grupo de jazz de los 80s

The thing about this amazing group was that they were both straight ahead jazz blues players while at the same time being one of the most avant-garde outside groups ever. Don could play all that at one and the same time as could George while Danny, with his years backing Mingus could play anything and everything in any combination. On top of it they had Cameron Brown who was one of the most undermentioned bassists ever, although he was awesome like he had to be to play this music. For me, they not only were the best quartet of the 80s but the best since then too. It makes me so sad and angry at the universe that the three main members of the group all died way too young and were deprived of long lives playing and sharing this incredible music that always fills my soul with joy.

One of the best jazz groups I have ever seen and heard. I was fortunate enough to attend several of their performances in the 80's and won't forget them.

One of the wildest and hardswinging bands ever, but they could play very soft too.
Both George and Don was raised in Charles Mingus band, so they knew how to do it!!

adams always plays the same solo everywhere and all the time: screams, random phrases without any respect for the context and the other musicians. He is a lousy musician, like many in jazz, a music where crooks of his kind can make a career without any respect for the listener.

    • @jazzisall1

Shows how bad an ear and knowledge of jazz you have. Yes, the Master of jazz, Charles Mingus, chose him for his last great group because he sucked and Mingus couldn't hear what a genius like you can. 😂 What a buffoon you are.

@@rinahall Wrong, it's directly related to a troll who has nothing better to do with his life than act like a spiritual vampire, and attempt to bring everyones energy down with your ignorant commentary. Intelligent critique should always be welcomed, but not the comments of a mindless troll.
Again, it would be more courageous to end your life as quickly as possible with your own hands, so nature does not have to slowly torture you. There are many quick was to die, choose one, and act on it.
