I was at this and it completely blew me away. I had never heard Miles Davis, or even of Miles Davis. But this was unforgettable. Roll forward 40 years and I was working with Jack DeJohnette and his band at the Sydney Opera House on my live show of the film "Tribute to Jack Johnson" (from which the album)... I think I may even have impressed myself !
I’ve only been getting into Miles Davis and jazz in general for less than 2 yrs, but I think this was his true genius. An undisputed master of the old school, he wasn’t afraid to move ahead with the new. While the great majority of his contemporaries had nothing but lambast for the youths’ innovations, disgusted at how their precious art form was getting mangled, Miles saw the merit in what they were doing and embraced it. And both he and they were the better for it.
Airto is a freak of nature this is beyond amazing thought it was Billy Cobham n the drums jack dejonnett played some good beats amazing groove thought out till Mike's got sorcerific with his prods
Simply one of the most extraordinary piece of music ever recorded live. Young Dave Holland plays the fundamental role (did he know ?) of gluing all the loose parts into a brilliant performance that broke all the (then) known parameters of jazz-rock & fusion.
This is so intense!! As a 13 year old boy, I was brought up with all the bollocks you get in the charts today but luckily I found this before it was too late!! Miles is just on another level!! RIP
Ein wunderbares Dokument einer Live Session beim Festival auf der Isle of Wight 1970 - Miles und seine illustren Mitstreiter bieten improvisierte Musik a la "Bitches Brew" in Perfektion. Psychedelischer Jazz Rock vom allerfeinsten....! Danke für das Posting ....!
Rien entendu de tel, une perfection, indémodable, d'une force et douceur et simplicité et complexité. Le graal du musicien approché au plus prêt par ces types. Incroyable !
Dayum. This still sends chills up my spine. Call it Anything is a correct title for this jam. Miles not only was a great jazz musician, he was a great musician period. Bitches Brew not only influenced jazz, but rock as well. In fact, it played a huge role in the development of funk as well.
Still one of my favorites. So much goodness wrapped up in this performance you don't know where to start. lol...IF I were talented enough to be backed by Jack, Chick, Keith, Aireto and Holland, as soon as I reached the wings I'd say: "Alright, Lord...I'm ready to go." (R.I.P., Miles and Chick.)
Love it at 33:57 when those two guys turn their heads in disbelief when Miles walks of the stage and the rest of the band still freaking out! Then at 35:04 Miles returns to check out the crowd - you can almost hear him say 'Damn - I knew I was right!' Whoever has remastered and cleaned up the sound has done a fantastic job on this.
Amazing rythmns, from a bass players stand point i would love to have found those notes and been there..i danced in my chair! Completely infectious and transforming Jarrets head writhing and big grins all round says it all! Cheers for posting the video
How remarkable it would be for it’s 50 anniversary for Chick, Dave, Jack and the lot to revive this great concert with Ambrose or Avishai Cohen playing the role of Miles.
Head to 20:00 mark and you can spot legendary Texan folk singer, Shawn Phillips leaning over one of the amps. Apparently he didn't even know he was there until he saw the video. Jumping jacaranda's, this concert was totally next level.
Well, this HAS to be next level when Guy Buttery is here watching! It’s too unbelievable just how inspirational Miles and his generation continue to be to those who followed. I watch this in sheer wonder and as a reminder that I’ve lived in the same time as some of the most extraordinary giants of our time. Life is indeed interesting. P.S. Love your music, Mr Buttery!
The Bitches Brew material always played well live. CBS have the Filmore concert from about 6 months earlier on cd, with Shorter still in the band and just the one keyboard (Corea). Brilliant!
This particular band that MD assembled is at their peak. Those 1970 Fillmore East & West recordings culminated here to transfix the Eurohippies. "Live-Evil" recorded four months later... MD's evolution was rampant.
Aw Jack, the way you play those drums, I am compelled to get up and jam with you. Which could be embarrassing as I don't play anything. That was me on the hill at the beginning in the 2 tents joined together.

There is so much groove embedded in the layers it's unreal!
Airto Moreira (percussionist) is a genius from Brazil. that whole band is unreal!
This is the guy, the percussion magician! 11:38
The one who blows the whistle is called a whistler.
Sound is a type of energy made by vibrations.
The spiritual whistle. 13:00
35:00 Miles smiles
So incredibly timeless, fresh and energetic! Magical!
Oui
I have an Isle of Wight Festival T-shirt from this year, 1970 the year I was born!
More than a half of a century later, it still sounds fresh and revolutionary.
Gary Bartz playing some great stuff
Il a été au niveau oui, superbe, et même donné un truc merveilleux ce soir là en jouant.... en inspirant
Jack, Dave, and Airto were on one this whole gig

Airto Moreira on percussion really reminds me of Stanley Kubrick in this clip :D
damn!!!! around 32-ish . . . I could listen to that groove all day for years

It's really great to see this particular Miles Davis band kickin'it live! I love the Bitches Brew album 🔥🔥🔥
Its so awesome we have this amazing footage that lets this concert live on.
the more i watch and listen the more i love.

You are such a unique little snowflake
Salve Airto Moreira!
This music it seems to be made in a galaxy far away, compare to nowadays... Great !!!!!!!
Oh... Yeahhh 👳
For sure, I miss that galaxy of joy, today's music is often about destruction
Yeah man! The Bitches Brew band ain't no joke! All-star team of musicians
I think Miles Davis was a genius.
Merveilleux dans une autre galaxy......aujourd'hui encore
Makes you feel like your in a rocket shooting through the universe. Amazing.

What a monster set!
A smile and wave from Miles at the end - no less!
If you play like them you have played everything.
I love Miles Davis, and I a so happy I found my "Kind Of Blue" album. :-)

Sometimes I love, sometimes I hate! Sometimes had a lot to say and sometimes nothing. This was Miles.

DVD documentary and interviews followed by the complete performance seen here. Miles Davis Electric - different kind of blue.
I had this album, one of my first ones, I managed to save this lp, it has jimi hendrix on the reverse side.
That's the stuff, right there!
Miles is a time traveller sent by the creator

Wow - 1970 and Dave Holland invents the template for disco bass guitar!
This is My Goodness ))
Was that line up even street legal? Young DeJonette... my my my
What fun on bass. So cool as they got warm.
I love it.... Miles just taking it to another level.... & for all you early Miles fans who didn't like it or didn't get it well TO BAD FOR YOU....
