This was EXCELLENT!! BBC accomplishes the analysis of a marriage in a funny, smart way in an hour better than all those portentous movies Hollywood has been making for years!! This kinda reminded me of Before midnight!!
There's actually quite a few Hollywood and American indie films that have similar messages and tones as this 1-hour episode. Maybe you should expand your horizons a bit more. It seems like you may be watching the wrong Hollywood films.
+HP R I didn't know Anna Madeley before this, but she reminds me of the actress Claire Skinner. I think they should be sisters or at least cousins, hehe. Kind of a passive aggressive vibe and very similar expressions and eyes I find, in both ladies.
"What are you and I going to do for 11 days?" Let me think...11 days alone with Peter Capaldi in a romantic hotel bungalow with our own pool...oh, dear Lord, my imagination is just exploding...!!
sarah metcalfe Look for Crow Road here on youtube. It's a terrific mini-series, and he's still in his beautiful stage. Also Local Hero, in which he goes almost full dork.
10:52 "I speak excellent Spanish" No se yo chica XD, algunas cosas te bailan~ Es super tierno ver a Peter intentando hablar español!! ¿Algún español por aquí?
The wife is brilliantly funny - her sarcasm made me laugh the most... I sometimes wonder if people are meant to stay married after 20 years - the rare lucky few..
I've been married for 22 years, and this is so painfully, hilariously true to life! Marriages don't just happen - they require nurturing, hard work and care. That's why you celebrate milestone anniversaries, because making a marriage last that long is a real accomplishment.
My parents are 25 years married, sadly my mom is cheating on my dad and they barely have any conversion. It's eating me up from the inside and if i confess i am afraid their marrage will collapse, and probably get devorced and i dont want that, i dont want my mom and dad getting a divorce i dont want to go from on house to the other, i am a emotional wreck and i dont know how i am holding this together. And sometimes in the deepest part of my mind, i hopethat my dad never met my mom.
@@water9892 However ghastly it may be for you, you should be aware that this happens more often than not. The human animal is not monogamous, that's something we must accept. And 25 years is one hell of a long time to stay married to the same person, so your parents really did rather well. A People change over time, and many couples grow apart. It is not in the least abnormal or unnatural.
I watched this last night on RUclips, a first time viewing for me. I really enjoyed the thread of dark humour running thru it, as well as 'the pixie' girl. Is Lewis Capaldi Peter's son? He of the ultra depressing records taking the UK by storm right now.😁😁😁
😮 THAT guy peter whatever, OMG 😳😂🤣 he gives me the creeps, Ike 🤢😎💯. What an absolute PIF, if my husband dressed like that I'd, deny any knowledge of his presence 😂
I was expecting the girl to start singing 'Smelly cat' Except That Phoebe probably has the higher IQ. Brilliant writing and acting when a character irritates you so much. Felipe was like the eye of the storm, trying to keep these damaged English fruitcakes the right side of sane. Great script, so well acted. And nice to see something set in Spain that isn't the damn Costas.
She's medicated because she's sad at the children leaving home. Would he have cheated? Maybe a kiss. So why are they still married. Because they still love each other despite the bogeys on the flannel, despite the farting in bed, despite his not being able to say the right thing. That's marriage for you. It ain't moment after moment of stars and bliss, It can be bloody hard work but, if the love is there, you knuckle down and do the work.
I have only watched ten minutes so far but it astounds me that anyone could be so disinterested in their wife as Peter here. Particularly as they had only been married for 20 years at this stage.
When she said she wanted a divorce, his face said it all. Broke my heart.
I adore Peter Capaldi he's so devilishly handsome :3
WHAT?
Agreed ✨
😂 say what NOW 🥵🤪 are you blind😢
omg Peter in those sock and shorts and shoes is the most hilarious thing I've seen in ages :D
My dad dresses like that... Wasn't surprise to see that. Ha!
I thought it was adorable. And hilarious... I laughed so hard at that damn speedo!
darafilth
oh yes, don't get me wrong I thought it's adorable too! adorably dorky!
MsMoonTheLoon I know! It was!
.....hahaha ..."I may have dozed off once or twice!"
love the 'dad dancing' too.
This is a lovely movie. I'm looking forward to Capaldi's work as the Doctor. It'll be quite the twist from childish and happy Smith, no?
He is so adorable. I can't stand it.
Yuka 😂
Peter Capaldi, he is one of my fave idols through life. And plus he’s funny and unique!

Brilliant dialogue and excellent timing.
That dive tho XD
I love it when he's all drink-wobbly @ 21:52, it makes his accent that much stronger (...which is always a plus!)
I really enjoyed this, thanks so much for the upload. The pool scenes were hilarious. Well acted by all.
Oh my! I loved! I laughed! I loved the wife's sarcasm and banter!!! Hahaha!!!
Thank you for sharing!!!
I must say Peter still has a great body.
as white as white can be!
12 years later and he is still gorgeous.
So damn true
“Jim the Fish.”
Sarah Parrish is at her best in this film. Peter Capaldi is also excellent.

Peter Capaldi = comedic genius = king of awkward.

Such a funny scene.
Thanks so much for posting this.
Checked it out for the actors, captivating from the very first scene.
Absolutely fantastic x
All videos with Peter Capaldi are getting a sudden spike in hits, since his announcement as The Doctor. That is why I'm here.
Okay, so this what happened to the Doctor when he used the chameleon arch and lived as a normal human???
wish the BBC would put this on DVD!
This was great! Pete was so awkward and goofy... like a teenager. Strange to see him in short pants...and that speedo... i had to laugh about that!
This is brilliant. Haven't laughed so much in ages 😂🤘
He's so adorable!!❣️❣️
That Peter Capaldi's a sly fox indeed! Who knew the Doctah would marry the Empress of the Racnoss?!?! #GoFigure! #DoctorWho #LOL

"Uxorious"
Gotta love Capaldi! Cheers!
When the girl asked him if he regretted getting married he described a long-term relationship so well or at least one where you love the other person.
loved it! David Nicholls at his best and a fantastic cast, would definitely watch it again :)
ahhhhhhh my heart T^T
There is that film called Hotel starring Capaldi, McGann, Hawes and Walsh.
excellent!!
12th doctor acting like the 12th doctor before he was the 12th doctor.
That Sarah Parish is THE most attractive mid aged female, loved her in "Viva Bpool" !
This probably does happen often. Cute story David.
bitter sweet
Thank you for posting this, yrnamehere! P.S.- would anyone know where to buy a physical copy of this? Was it ever even released on disc?
Olha que coisa mais linda mais cheia de graça é a menina que vem e que passa num doce balanço lalalala do mar tururuuu
Sarah Parish was very funny
A wee glimpse into the home life of Malcolm Tucker...

Gys Oudhof. What a Standby Carpenter! Without him this whole film would have fell apart.
Hhhh 😅 thank you I enjoy....
*claps* Jim's a good husband
5:45 “Crazy in love” by Beyoncé
Oh God XD
This is so funny
And then there are one's fifties and sixties to share with one another.
'Tuck in' lol...mind you...
'luxurious'
But another very good film with Peter Capaldi is an equally modest resolution. Even times the voices syncronization is not right
What does he say at the end of film before saying "nothing" ?
10:55 Capaldi looks good in plaid.
I died

No, they are second cousins once removed. Peter has one child, a daughter.

w1a meets the thick of it ..
I like the movie very much, just had to use custody of the eyes, WITH THE husband 🌺🙏
What does he say at 22:22?
At 22 30 Jim says Uxurious ? and mutters something after ? Can ANYONE tell me What He Said ??? LOVE UK Rocker XXX
I wonder that too. 😎🙈a mystery Word,he says it in the ens scene too
The word he says is "uxorious" which means "showing great or excessive fondness for one's wife". Cheers.
@@juliachriste9926 Uxorious :-)

WTF how can you find 2 weeks of holidays "too much"!!
It depends who you are on holiday with.
Syncronization does not fit the time or does not fit the process itself
The young lady is attractive. Nice body.
The "young lady" looks closer to 35-40 🤣🤣🤣

Fun to watch such a train wreck . . . but why ARE they still married? She's so depressed , she's medicated and he would have cheated if he could have.
